Beautiful work, well done. Kris Harbour recommended your channel, and I'm so pleased that I visited. I find that watching other people working creatively is very therapeutic!
Your tip at 9:08 as simple as it was, I've never thought of. Great tip. I've only tinkered around with inlay on smaller projects and never struck out on something as large as your table there. This is going to be extremely helpful. Thanks for sharing.
That is fantastic. seriously impressive mate. you should be getting more views. Im going to do a quick post on my community chat to tell some more people about your channel.
Wow thank you so much, Kris! I'm a huge fan of everything you do, your hard work is some of my biggest inspiration right now and your endorsement means a lot. Thanks man!
@@GillisBjork Its always nice to hear that and im glad you are enjoying the videos. Im always impressed with your woodwork and honestly i think you should be getting a lot more attention on here. It really shows that you can do quality woodwork without having a huge workshop and big power tools.
As a fellow woodworker I admire your work and the videos I have seen so far were amazing. Therefore I am sorry to say your videos without this disturbing background music were much better.
You managed to amaze me once again. So grateful you're sharing your footages in the tube. The leaves… the acorn… seem alive. I can smell the scent of the forest.
scary i started inlaying think every chisel stroke i'm going to ruin months of work had to put it down 3 times as nerves are shot ha .makes the heart beat faster when i make a mistake just watch you again get the confidence back thanks for the help great work
Gillis you may be getting a taste of this by now but I can assure you that your future will be very very busy. Your skills, art more aptly will be in popular demand for decades to come. The pieces you make will command a lot of attention and compensation. Enjoy it my friend. Stay true and pure to it. Another feast for my eyes. The Taipan
Recently attended an inlay class where we used these for glue application - Monoject Curved 412 Tip Syringes 12 Cc. You might find them useful for future projects. All the best.
I have done quite a bit of this type of inlay using a specialized router with fine down cut spiral bits. Doing it by hand requires incredible patience. I have tried it your way with limited success. And it’s very time consuming.
Thanks for the detailed inlay segment. I’ve down inlay with straight lines and will attempt my first curved inlay soon. I use a power router for the interior of the field to be removed, hand tools as you did for the boarders.
This is beautiful work, you are incredibly talented and I'm so glad too that Kris linked to it. When UA-cam turns back on my ability to subscribe (I've sent feedback again, wish I knew what keeps happening!) I'd be delighted to sub and watch your other videos. I'll save a few for now to 'watch later'. Hope all goes brilliantly - am sure it will. :)
Thank you very much, Benjamin! That's an old type of router plane. There are also metal ones with more functionality, and you can make a super simple version by drilling a hole at 45 degrees through a block of wood and shoving a chisel through.

Did you take the inlay parts right from the fret saw, or did you do some sanding after the sawing out?
Mostly right from the saw, some spots I took a sliver off with a chisel. And a few strokes of sanding to break the edge that goes into the cavity.
What is that super narrow plain you used called?
Ambidexstrocicity I believe it's called
Sounds about right
