    I just got an inlay kit today it fits the cheapo Katsu trim router, I used uv resin with crushed mother of Pearl and a gold flake outline in bow tie inserts on walnut for a tissue box lid, I’m pretty dang impressed with the outcome.
    Excellent video I love this type of stuff 👌

    I really hope I remember this after surgery. I'll be functionally blind for a couple weeks then I really want to try some of these techniques for Christmas presents.

      Save the video, I have probably 20 different playlists I save videos under. Ex; Carpentry projects, safety videos (for work) then everything is organized to go back and watch again later.

    Technique #3: Neutral Color Glow Powder and Casting Resin in Ebony for fretmarkers :) Casting Resin takes a bit more hardening time (24 hrs at room temperature to set and 72 to dry), but awesome results. I only need to remember to NOT radius the fretboard before doing the inlay! also, if the fret slots are cut, teflon tape (plumber's tape) the slots! excellent video.

      I also use the same stuff for binding, rarely. It's a bit messy if the makeshift mold leaks even a bit...but GLOW binding is so tempting to do...🤣

      @@KingBespokeCreations more detailed tid-bits..it's all learning from mistakes, hopefully on scraps, not projects, but...sometimes we fly by the seat of our pants, so to say. A re-fillable Butane Cigar lighter can get the bubbles out, too.

    Tagua nut! It's machinable and translucent. I have cut the nut into slices, shaped the slices on my CNC to perfect circles and arcs, and then inlayed those pieces into cavities that have a central through hole, painting the floor of the cavity white. Then, an LED is put behind the piece, and it all lights up (pretty well) when the LED turns on. Had I used the UV resin technique you showed over top of the pieces, it would have worked even better. Whether you wish to light up your inlays or not, it's a great material to work with and not so difficult or expensive to purchase.

    Thank you for all the videos They have been a great inspiration to me, do you think mixing the resin with sawdust would be a useful filler?

    • @KingBespokeCreations
      @KingBespokeCreations  7 місяців тому +2

      It’s worth a shot! Generally I would use sawdust and wood glue or CA glue. But resin is very similar to a thick CA glue 👍

    Level the workpiece if using the UV resin. It's easier to fill the cavity.
