It's been a wonderful, fascinating, and oftentimes tasty look at our drinking past. I was just wondering though, in terms of French Vermouth (which I understand to be a dry vermouth) is Cinzano Blanc, or Cinzano Extra Dry a suitable substitute?
Blanc will be sweet but both are good alternatives. I'm exploring vermouth as well check out Spanish vermouth if you can get it as well as the French quinas. They make great summer tipples as well as good cocktail modifiers.

Ummm a Cosmo should actually be a light pink...so a splash of cran. It's super red in the series cause they were fake. Actually sometimes it would vary in the show. Buy should definitely be light pink 😘

For better or worse, Don Draper's old fashioned is a period-correct interpretation (you'll sometimes see it called a "mid-century old fashioned"). At least he didn't put in the bright red maraschino cherries that would have been popular at the time.
Knob creek is a beautiful rye but a bit heavy for an old fashioned. An older variation on the old fashioned, as opposed to the orange flavoured modern, does used ang bitters plus a sugar cube and a splash of soda and a more subtle whiskey is more ideal. Knob creek rye is more ideal for a Manhattan as proper rye has very strong notes where as an Old Fashioned is a bitter expressive cocktail. A classic Old fashioned, of a genertion or two ago, you nailed a good rendition. That said for the example of the show you might be 100% on point as the character is someone who seeks to over power others so a strong rye in a subtle cocktail is appropriate.
As a cocktail and coffee enthusiast, seeing the redeye compared to what a redeye is in the coffee world, im terrified. The coffee version is just a cup of strong black coffee with a shot of espresso poured in. Much better, but nonetheless the same idea of a solution to tired mornings.
The bitters at the time of madmen was Abotts bitters they collapsed in the 60s when the fda banned Tonka beans in any product ingested by man after that Angostura became the standard
