You’ve inspired me from barely knowing how to accurately measure oz/ml to now making cocktails that are actually enjoyable to drink. Keep up the great work bud!
I've been the family "bartender" for about 4 decades and I am really learning how to make mix drinks the right way with your videos, the first 3 decades I didin't drink alcohol so went by what family members told me. Keep them drinks coming!
I went to Smugglers Cove SF a few months ago and got the Rum Milk Punch. I watched them make the drink and they added some Wray & Nephew overproof along with the dark rum. Very yummy drink. Pretty cool bar.
Smugglers Cove is a great bar. Visited there a couple of years ago when we were in San Fran. I have the book but am yet to try any of the recipes. You’ve inspired me 👍
@@StevetheBartender_ nothing it made me laugh when u said you tried making a hollowed out pineapple mug. I also love when u talk to the camera person. You videos are great. I'm a former bartender it's nice to see you enjoying what you're doing.
Has anyone ever complained that something has too much vanilla flavor? I don’t think so. I’ve never precisely measured vanilla for a cocktail (and very rarely when cooking) and it’s always turned out great.
Haha, good old Tim! Proper legend that guy! I'll be honest, I've not got Smugglers Cove, I'm still on Beachbums books. Might treat myself to an early BDay Pressie!
Thank you for the video I have been into tiki for quite some time I do have the smugglers cove book and have made several syrups and drinks from it. And I'm sorry that you spent several hundred dollars in US money for that blender when I bought with the same one for $32 dollars.. keep up the good work really enjoy watching your videos.
Excellent book! If I'd recommend just a couple of books for a bartender to own, it's Smuggler's Cove, it's Death &Co, and The Bar Book by Morgenthaler. Throw in Imbibe! if you have some money spare after that. Should you have even more money spare after that, it's Sippin's Safari by Beachbum Berry. Happy reading
Hi Steve love your videos. We built a home bar as a pandemic project- the 'Voodoo Lounge" we have a selection of all sorts of alcohol & struggle to use the right ones for the drinks you teach. Could you list the ingredients and alternatives - if you see what I mean?
dammit, that flash blender is becoming more and more necessary to acquire 😂 Love the idea of a White Russian blended with that! Great vid :) And Timmmm!!! Tim Kirkland is the absolute best 🤗
Maybe Jamaican Milk Punch was so good at getting people drunk because in the 18th century the rum would probably have been navy or even cask strength. I'd try Smith & Cross in it and maybe the proportions would make more sense.
hey great video!! sorry but i cant understand the website that you said about finding nice glasses and straws..can you write it down plz?? keep creating such of good videos!!
I'll have to get my hands on that book! I only made a couple milk based drinks so far but enjoyed them both very much. This whole Tiki thing is also very interesting. But how to justify getting those big (ugly) mugs to the mrs... ;-)
I always wanted a tiki bar. My bar is more a beer and bourbon place. Had a tequila bar but was "forced" to sell to a corporate competitor who was opening across the street. Anyway, love the tiki cocktail. Thanks for the vid and good to see you. Haven't been seeing you in my feed for months.
Question on the last drink. You used 30ml of whole milk and 30ml of cream. Why not use 60ml of half-n-half? Wouldn't that be the same thing? Or do they not have that in aussieland? Or is it not the same thing, I thought that's what it was. Side note: I would have assumed the same thing about the bourbon vanilla
Half and half is about 10-12% fat content... I don't think it comes in a carton in Australia like it does elsewhere - I could be wrong.. but yes, you can just use 60ml of half 'n' half :)
@@StevetheBartender_ people use it in their coffee here a lot instead of the fatter whole cream. I have some in my fridge for making real hot chocolate which is why I asked/wondered. Thanks. Hey, when you moving to the new set up?
Great video as always. Got to say, miss the taste notes right after the drink is made. Takes away a bit of the impact for me when they are collected at the end
I’ve had my eye on that book for a while, time to go for it I think. What surfsidesip straws were they? We have metal straws but they are too short for our hurricane glasses which is less than ideal
Get the book. So much information about rum and tiki. Decent images too. After you read through its a great conversation starter as a coffee table book.
Yay Tiki! Got my Smuggler's Cove book for Christmas, and been trying out recipes (but find it a bit difficult with the amount of different liqueurs and syrups needed..) How do you crush your ice Steve? Got myself a Lewis bag and mallet, but I'm sure my neighbours hate me when I'm hammering away :-|
the secret is, let the ice sit in the bag for 15 min, I use a metal meat tenderizer, after only 1 or 2 bangs it's done, without making holes in the bag
Its not the Gin that makes that drink flat, its the garbage coconut water. I have always refused to sell coconut water signature drinks at bars. Theyre always so shit lmao
I wanted to test that particular blender because I kept reading that it was the go to blender to use at home.. not available in Australia though so I had to have one shipped from the US.. when it arrived I realised it was a different voltage so had to buy a transformer.. lol, expensive!

Most definitely-you will live it!
Tiki cocktails: mix a lot of ingredients with rum... Sounds good to me. Rum cocktails are my favorite. Nice and fun video Steve, good job! :)

I sell them on my website, cocktailkit.com.au but they are a Libbey glass - should be relatively easy to find in the US & UK...
