    David, there is a talent to being able to capture people’s attention, even as a corny pirate, and get information and products out to people. I’ve found these to be really great filters overall. They definitely warm up the footage a bit, but that’s easy to adjust for. I got mine a few months apart, and I noticed the newer one is built slightly different and seems to be a little nicer 🤷🏻‍♂️

    Question: Would you attach a polarizer to this? They make a ND / PL but the VND is only a ND then. I’m new to all this and just trying to figure out what I need for my Sony A7s3 / Sony 24 mm f1.4 GM

    • @robbryan3044
      @robbryan3044 4 роки тому

      Not true. Even if you have a point & shoot...as long as it has a threaded lens capable of accepting filters...it's ALWAYS good to have/use filters.
      At an absolute minimum, you should have a UV filter, and ALWAYS use it (unless your using another filter), as it helps to protect the lens. It's cheaper to replace a UV filter than replacing a lens (or an entire camera, can if using a point & shoot). The other two filters I always have are a circular polarizer (extremely helpful when shooting buildings with lots of windows, or when shooting at/through water), and ND filters. While this particular ND is quite expensive (EXTREMELY expensive, if you get the combo pack), compared to purchase multiple ND filters, it actually ends up being cheaper. I would recommend watching Gerald Undone's UA-cam video comparing this variable ND filter against other variable ND filters. So as to not 'spoil' anything, I'll just say, "Watch the video" - ua-cam.com/video/mL-BxhQvdIE/v-deo.html

    Thanks for a great review! I started with the 6-9 because I was going on a holiday to Thailand (bright sun, white beaches and sea) and it was perfect. When I went back to cold and dark Sweden I got the 2-5 and it’s great here. So if you’re in a tropical setting, you might want to try out the 6-9 first. 😃

    does it actually stack with a polarizer? Did you test in a real world condition like long exposures of water? I've never, ever, ever wanted an ND filter on while shooting someone on rollerblades. I can't see how action photography with a high shutterspeed requires ND filters.

    I got the 2-5 several months ago and love it - it pretty much stays on my 70-200 all the time (I usually shoot exterior daytime) - my only complaints are that I can't seem to use a lens hood with it and it doesn't stop lens flare so I occasionally need to shade the lens with my hand, also I can't thread anything over it so I can't use a polarizer in combo with it - unless anyone can offer advice on how to overcome these two issues. Otherwise it's a dream to quickly adjust my exposure without needing to switch filters or adjust shutter, fstop etc. I used to pack a "wallet" full of nd's in my camera bag - now it's just one. I got the 77mm size (my largest lens width) and just pop a step up ring on my 72mm lenses and it works great for those as well.

      I was looking for anyone else talking about this - I have noticeable vignetting down at between 15-17mm at the 5 stop mark. I guess this is just a VND issue that cant be completely solved. Either way I'm not normally shooting that wide with a VND, so for the most part shooting at around 20mm this thing works great!

With a red camera of course. It's all show off for the easily impressed. Now he makes money selling very expensive gear using his name as a brand. I won't fall for it. Most people don't.

    Truth be told, I've been needing to get some ND filters, I've been considering a variable ND, and I was leaning towards the B+W. However, after watching this video, as well as Gerald Undone's "variable ND filter comparison video", this PolarPro is the obvious winner - essentially, just as good as the B+W, but for $50 less...plus, it comes with the 'defender' cover, and the magnetic closure case. Btw, for those considering the 6-9, or the combo pack, according to Gerald Undone's testing, it's not really worth it, as the 6-9 had noticably lower results...but, the 1-5 is a clear winner. Ok...time to order mine.

      You got cross polarization?! You should have exchanged it. This thing guarantees no cross polarization. That’s why they have a 2-5 stop and 6-9 stop separate. The dark X usually happens on ND filters with too many stops crammed into one filter👍

    I was looking for a serious review from a serious channel with the big question to be answered ... IS IT WORTH IT and instead I got a lot of silly with funny nose and glasses with no real info and an infomercial for Peter. I'm no hater but that is 9 minutes and 2 seconds I'll never get back. This should be 101 filters for brand new beginners. BOO! Your title is click bait and you got me.
