This segment comes from one of the 4 shows he did for Timex in 1959 & 1960. This one featured Bing Crosby, Dean Martin, & Mitzi Gaynor. You don't hear it here but the audience didn't want to stop clapping, whooping, and hollaring after this three song set. They recognized, as anyone who sees it now will, they'd just witnessed something extraordinary. Frank is at his near professional peak at this time and these performance reflect that stratospheric capability. All three performances, all so different, are all as good as singing gets. Sinatra's still #1 by at least a mile & an eighth.

Lake Michigan got it right. When he had finished this medley, the audience was on it's feet, and wouldn't stop applauding & whooping for some 15 minutes. As TV was live back then, it shook up the producers because they had no plan for this, and there were other guest artists waiting to appear on the show. Say what you will about his private life, this cat had it in spades, and everyone there knew they were witnessing history. No one could touch him in his musical genre, and no one ever will. .. Thanks for the memories Frank.

You can say any language,,, it's actually true!!!! Remember,, virtually EVERY male nightclub singer followed in Frank's footsteps, they didn't lead! Sinatra had the ~perfect voice~ every single American male singer is in effect, truly,, a partial copy of the Chairman Of The Board!!! Fact~!~ Not opinion here~!~

Then there's Frank. Nobody came even remotely close to matching him at the
very peak of his sublime powers, in the 1950s.

I treasure the whole Timex Show from which this segment was taken. Had it in VHS and now in DVD. 1-derful combination of artists, songs, dances, humor, camaraderie between them. This "nightclub" section by Sinatra is priceless. Nothing now compares to this.

Sinatra was so comfortable performing as a saloon singer !!! I was watching Kevin Spacey as Bobby Darin in Beyond The Sea (2004) today; in a scene Darin narrates that as a consequence of the 'British invasion' in the 60s night clubs were replaced by concerts in big venues (such as baseball stadiums), so his stage virtually disappeared. The same applied to Sinatra.

That is why Sinatra is unique, what talent, what voice and what life gave to the songs, there are voices it is true, but there is only one Sinatra, and all that talent is worked hard, makes it seem natural, the confusing ease of magicians , what seems natural are hours of work,
great actor and singer, rest in peace frank,

Singing is acting. When Sinatra portrayed vulnerability he was as great as any pop/jazz singer--as he is here in "Angel Eyes": Later on, when he succumbed to pathological egotism is was unable to project the vulnerability that made him able to transcend his medium--and made him great!
