  • In today's video, I'm making homemade herbal shampoo and an apple cider vinegar rinse. It only takes a few simple ingredients and it's easy! Just make an herbal infusion and then add castile soap (or vinegar), essential oil, a little preservative (optional), and you've got your own customized shampoo and hair rinse. Thanks so much for hanging out with me!

    Hey cindy! One tip I have is that over the years I learned about safe essential oils use - oil and water don't mix. If at all possible, it's always best to mix your essential oil into your Castille soap before adding it to the water! For a wash off product, about 6-8 drops per handful is safe as a max.

    that's so easy to make actually wow! and speaking of mineral makeup, i also switched to a mineral powder foundation 3 or so years ago and never looked back. i invested in a good quality foundation and big dense foundation brush and it was soooo worth it. my skin is usually sensitive and dry so i was concerned it would look cakey and weird on me, but the way my big sister taught me to apply it, or rather buff it in in circles, makes the powder almost melt and become smooth and not powdery at all

    Oooh seeing you make these herbal products (especially the soap + shampoo) makes me _really_ want to start doing stuff like this too! I just wish doing herbal stuff/diy stuff wasn't so expensive over here in South Africa 🙈 But I really want to look into the shampoo especially since I've always had a battle with my hair because of how curly & fine it is, so I've always struggled with it being dry, broken & frizzy. So I'd honestly love to see what herbal stuff would do with it!

I have super sensitive skin (& basically just everything) so I think going herbal & getting away from all of those chemicals on my hair, could definitely be a great thing! Oh this is fun! It's got me thinking of all the different herbs you could combine. Gelatine is also supposed to be good for the hair if it lacks protein. I wonder if a weak dilution of gelatine would thicken up the shampoo/conditioner without turning to complete jelly/jello, or if using a foaming pump would help foam up the shampoo. Thank you for sharing your knowledge Cindy 💚🌿

    I will try to make this herbal shampoo to use between washes. bcs I use hair mask 3x a week, I do a hair schedule, Hydration, Nutrition and no the weekends Repair. But between washes my hair get pretty oily, so I will try to use as a more gentle shampoo to reduce the oilyness.
    I was checking this Pure-Castile Soap, and the only saponifier used is Potassium Hydroxide, so this will be pretty gentle.

    Cindy,
    How did that natural spring water taste from home? Was is super different? I buy the same bottled water you get so I’d really like to know :) I’ve always wanted to taste “real?” Natural spring water.
    Sometimes I think bottled water is just mostly tap water but I don’t know!
    Hope you are well 💜
    Also- you need to start a cooking show on the reg.

    • @LifePlusCindy
      @LifePlusCindy  Рік тому +1

      To me, it tastes slightly sweet and you can sometimes taste the minerals. It is the best water I've ever had. Much better than the bottled! Most bottled water is just tap water, but if it says "spring water" it is supposed to be bottled at an actual spring. That doesn't mean it is, but it's supposed to be. Lol

      An apple cider vinegar rinse can help balance out a dry scalp and relieve itching, as well as a gentle castile-based shampoo (like the one I made here). Herbs you might find helpful are white willow bark, nettle, and comfrey. They will all help soothe a dry, itchy scalp.

    I wanted to say this in the last video.. But your scalp and hair growth is really healthy looking! You're an inspiration. I did see someone do a rosemary hair rinse and now you're doing it and I feel inspired to do it. So how do you use the rinse exactly. Do you literally use it to rinse out the shampoo or is it the last thing you put in your hair then you DON'T wash the rinse out?

    • @LifePlusCindy

      No, the vinegar rinse acts as a conditioner. It removes residue and softens your hair. I don't need any additional conditioner when I use a vinegar rinse. I'm not sure about people with other hair textures, but this is all I need for my fine hair. :)
