Just had a customer ask me to make her shampoo bars for hair loss. I never thought of the egg yoks, and I have chickens! I did some research and pumpkin oil has been clinically trialed for hair loss and got high grades, so I used that along with most of the ingredients you used as well and peppermint EO as that is also good for hair. But wow I will surely try egg yolk next time.
I would recommend a strong brew of nettle and rosemary tea in place of the water, or use rosemary oil if you don’t have the herb. They are both great for hair follicles. But just not using commercial shampoo and conditioner will help repair the scalp.
I have made 13 shampoo tablets using your recipe and it came out very well in a lovely cream color. I used it on my hair and it had a lot of lather leaving my hair soft and manageable. I thank you very much for the recipe. 😋👍👍
I am DEFINITELY going to make this! I have very long hair & have been troubled with hair loss once I got into my 60s. It's worth a try! I already use shampoo bars & would NEVER go back to bottled shampoos. Thank you for this!
I just wanted to say, I made this recipe this beautiful shampoo bar, and I love it!! I have used it for about 2 months now and all my friends wanted to know what I had done to my hair. So, I just gave them some to try. I will let you know. My hair feels great. Thank you. Now, I have to make some more! LOL
Hello again ❤ I’ve been using your recipe for a week( but I tweaked the recipe a bit by infused oil with ginger and bergamot for the benefits) and I just love love love it. My hair loss stop. No need to use any conditioner at all. Thank you!!
I made this soap this week because I had been searching for a great shampoo bar. I have to say that I was NOT patient and tried it early and on dirty hair, I gently used the soft bar and OMG what it did to my hair was amazing!!! I cannot wait for them to cure so that my old color treated hair to begin to get healthy again! Thank You so much for posting this wonderful video.
Wonderful to see a shampoo bar that doesn't require a press, would love to see more and even conditioner bars. The bubbles on this one looks really good! Thank you.
I love your accent, and your simple recipes. It was the beginning when you said that these bars don't have a ton of ingredients...that had me laughing. (I just watched someone else and their soap had 20 ingredients at least... I want mine good but I want it simple and effective. So thank you for showing me how and dropping all the gems of knowledge in there. I could watch you all day, but I do have a life to try to live, and im sure you do too. ❤😊
Thank you so much for this recipe. My better half kept asking me when I am making some shampoo and I kept saying that I didn't have a recipe with natural ingredients. Now I have 0 excuses :D
Thank you ...loved it, I used your tutorial on how to use a soap calculator and changed the tallow to mango butter and avocado to sunflower oil..hope it will turn out nice...
I used to used egg yolk to wash my hair for many years and did wondered for my scalp and hair. I've gone back to shampoo in recent years and it's been terrible for my hair.. So I may just go back to the eggs, or try this recipe out. Thanks.
I'm so glad I made this shampoo! I added powered goat milk and powered honey to mine. Also, some extra chelators due to the really hard water here, sodium phytate and sodium gluconate work really well with citric acid to combat soap scum. Technically my soap is still curing, but I couldn't wait and grabbed a bar early.
Omg thank you for sharing this recipe I have just washed my hair with a bar I made 3 days ago and already can tell the difference my hair has gone through menopause is bleached and very dry I’m amazed at this shampoo bar and it will get even better after curing ❤️ where is you accent from NE England
I make egg yolk shampoo and egg whites as well. Have a hard time keeping them on stock. I also infuse my olive oil with coffee since coffee is amazing for hair too. Love your soap
Hello Sarah, thank you for your videos. This shampoo bar is a winner! I made this bar and tried to wait the full 4 weeks before using but I couldn’t help myself. I used it within the first week. I’m amazed at how well this shampoo bar works. I love the fact that it’s natural and it actually works without all the expensive ingredients other shampoo bars have. This beautiful bar left my hair shiny with lots of body. I can’t say enough about this simple-all natural shampoo bar. Thank you for coming up with this fantastic shampoo bar and sharing the recipe. Have you ever considered making a all natural conditioner bar? Thank you for your videos! I’ve made many of your soap recipes and my favorite so far is your cocoa butter soap recipe. It’s my go-to soap. It’s an awesome soap! Again, thank you, for the videos you make, they’re much appreciated! I look forward to your next video. Have a wonderful day!

Hello Sarah, When I was a young lad (I'm 66!!) my mother would always buy egg shampoo... and I have (still!!) a full head of hair. So yes but no to your question "Have you ever tried Egg Shampoo", yes for commercial shampoo, no for artisan shampoo. It is about to change as I will try your recipe for sure. Hi Sarah, a quick update on your egg shampoo recipe: It is by far the favourite of my family and friends (me included)! I have since made 3 batches of it, everybody wants some!!! I have added a blend of essential oils (lavander, rosemary, cedar Atlas and patchouli) which is quite wonderful!! Thank you again
Hi Sarah, I didn't know you could put eggs in soap. I never heard of that or seen it done. Will the bars last very long? I remember as a kid my sisters washing their hair with an egg every so often to make it shine or give it body.
Does the egg replace some parts of the water? I’m planning to swap some of the oils that I already have so I’m quite confused how this will go in the soapcalc , thanks loads!!
@SoapSchoolUK 0:44 For the distilled water can I substitute it with beer? 🍺 I would really like to add the benefits of beer to the shampoo bars. Also can I add 3 egg yolks instead of 2? How do I know how many egg yolks is too much? I am a complete novice. I have never done a shampoo bar. I suffer from a lot of hair loss. Even putting my hand through my hair I lose a lot of hair. I just want to find something that helps me not only grow my hair but make it stronger and stop all the fall out. Thank you so much for your knowledge. And sharing these wonderful videos 🩷
Folks, if you don’t like the smell of apple cider vinegar for a rinse, then get citric acid powder and dissolve in water well. But do know that you can dilute the apple cider vinegar a lot, and even add a bit of essential oil to it. I’ve apple cider vinegar rinse for years instead of conditioner, you get used to the smell and grow to like it. It does dissipate as your hair dries. The apple cider vinegar will have added benefits over the citric acid.
Great to have you with us! There wouldn't be a direct replacement for these, you would really need a new recipe. Both the tallow and palm give firmness and stability to the soap, so simply adding other oils would not result in a good soap.
I just cut my first log of egg shampoo. It looks exactly like yours with the partial jell. I didn't use any fragrance. But...my bars smell a bit of rotten eggs. What did I do wrong? Will the smell go away. Looking fwd. to trying it even if it stinks! lol
Great video! I’m just wondering about the tallow, is it some special tallow made for making soap or can I buy tallow sold in a normal grocery made for eating?
It does not require a preservative. The high ph will prevent the need for it and in this case the fats in the egg yolk will be partially saponified too
Hi Sarah, I have been making this egg shampoo for a while now and it is a favorite amongst my family and friends. However, my niece experienced some less agreable results: her hair would not rinse as if too much shampoo inbeded itself in the hair cuticles from rubbing the bar on her head. Would it be possible to turn this recipe into liquid shampoo?? and how, I'm not very familiar with liquid soap making. Thank you in advance for your reply.
Hi Sara, im also Sara. lol nice to found you! i have two questions, 1. can i use extra virgin olive oil ok as well? 2. sould coconut oil be refined or unrefined? thank you for your sharing
I am so confused right now. People say these cold pressed soaps cannot be used on hair due to the PH being different and one must use apple cider vinegar rince..... and that scent put me off. What is your experience Sarah?
A pressed syndet bar has a better ph level for the hair but there are millions of people around the word that use this type of shampoo bar and swear by them. Try and out and see if you like them or not. I would suggest always using a good conditioner.
You are correct but do your research. Rely on reputable scientific research to make an informed opinion. Remember, centuries ago people used bar soap because they didn't have the technology and the research we do today to know it's not the correct PH balance for hair and it does destroy the hair over time. With that said, sydnet shampoos meet the needs of hair.
I am making this recipe right now and wondering if you can CPOP this soap to get a full gel? Ooooow, do I dare to, worried about the egg , as it would go into 170 F temp. I turn stove off when soap goes in. I will not risk it this time.
did you keep the oils & lye fairly cool for this recipe so that the egg yolks didn't curdle or cook before they were incorporated as part of the saponified soap?
I've been looking for a CP recipe for shampoo soap and this looks fab! Thanks for sharing. I'd love to see a CP hair conditioning soap or know if you've come across a good recipe? Many thanks, Fiona (Brisbane, Australia)

Thank you for sharing those recipes. If Tallow is not available, what can substitute for it?
Palm oil
There are lots of tallow options or even lard too
Lard
Thanks for this video. it was very helpful. 2 questions: 1 can I replace the water with apple cider vinegar, and if yes, then is the quantity the same? 2. Can I use this recipe but use it as a hot process in a hotpot? Thanks
I would not use only ACV as it would be too acidic
I'm not an expert. I've been making soap for ages but going to attempt shampoo bars later this week. I think perhaps using 75/25% water to apple cider vinegar may be a good thing because this is basically a soap recipe with a higher than average (5%) superfatting and soap is more alkaline than shampoos... so it may make a bar with a PH closer to shampoo than soap. My thoughts on hot processing would be that it's preferable to CP recipes for one reason only. If you made a batch of HP soap with no superfatting, then you can add all the luxury beneficial oils right at the end and they will not be 'eaten up' by the lye as it saponifies. I don't know about adding egg to HP soap... I'm a little concerned it could create scrambled eggs but like in cooking, you could try tempering in the yolks perhaps. I'm going to try making shampoo without using lye but the ingredients are way more expensive so if you try a HP shampoo bar, I would really love to hear how it went for you.... and yeah, the viscosity of vinegar and water are the same, so using the same amount should be fine.
Great recipe, thank you so much 😊

Hi, could we substitute tallow with coconut oil?
Just wanted to add that Tallow is known as beef driping in the UK if im correct . You can purchase it from marks and spencer in the grocery section
Tallow is mean:beef tallow?
Folks, if you don’t like the smell of apple cider vinegar for a rinse, then get citric acid powder and dissolve in water well.
But do know that you can dilute the apple cider vinegar a lot, and even add a bit of essential oil to it. I made these last night, cant wait to use them!
Definitely making this and adding to my product line, but might color it a bit to avoid the green center for eye appeal
The green should go as it cures but I think it would look great with some colour :) I hope you like it and cant wait to see you launching them

Great to have you with us! There wouldn't be a direct replacement for these, you would really need a new recipe. Both the tallow and palm give firmness and stability to the soap, so simply adding other oils would not result in a good soap.

tallow is rendered beef fat, and lard is pork.
This is a newbie question...When u use products like eggs that can go off, do u need to use a preservative? Or does lye serve this purpose?
It does not require a preservative. The high ph will prevent the need for it and in this case the fats in the egg yolk will be partially saponified too
Hello! Can you use another oil or butter instead of coconut oil? Thank you!
Babassu is also a lathering oil
I made some egg facial soap but haven't tried it yet. Hope it bubbles up like yours :-) Wow amazing.
I hope you love it Barbara x
While I am here, the yolk would go on my hair and the white on my face as a mask. Haven't done it in years!
She could rub the shampoo on hands first to get less rather than directly on the hair :)
Thank you!! New subscriber!
Welcome Lisa!!
Hello Sarah, can i use potassium hydroxide instead of sodium hydroxide in this recipe?
Hi Sara, im also Sara. lol nice to found you! i have two questions, 1. can i use extra virgin olive oil ok as well? 2. sould coconut oil be refined or unrefined? thank you for your sharing
I am from Bangladesh.
Can i use steric acid and BTMS for conditioner agent without tallow??
Recomandati acid citric in reteta ?
this looks fantastic💜,
n this can also be done in hot process ?
Hi Chica, yep it works great in HP :)
@@SoapSchoolUK thank you!! can't wait to try it.
I might have missed it but I wonder what temperature is your oil so it does not cook the egg yolk?
I was wondering, do you have to add preservative since you’re adding a raw egg?
I was wondering the same thing
Is there something i can use instead of tallow?
I am making this recipe right now and wondering if you can CPOP this soap to get a full gel? Ooooow, do I dare to, worried about the egg , as it would go into 170 F temp. I turn stove off when soap goes in. I will not risk it this time.
Hi Sarah, can we use Palm Oil instead of Tallow. Thanks for sharing the knowledge...
Yes you can
Hello can we easily preserve this product with egg yolks in it?
It does not go off, it works beautifully
How can I get sodium hydroxide? Thanks
Will it make bubbles to clean hair?
Yes it lathers well
Are these shampoo bars can be used for the
face and body?
They can be used on body as well yes Zakir
Will the egg yolks not to rancid? Can they be left out without affecting the overall recipe?
Will it strip color from dyed hair?
did you keep the oils & lye fairly cool for this recipe so that the egg yolks didn't curdle or cook before they were incorporated as part of the saponified soap?
No I soaped at my normal temperatures
I have all of the ingredients except the avocado oil, is there a substitute? I plan to make this recipe. Thank you!
Substitute for Avocado oil will be Chia Seed Oil or Sweet Almond Oil according to Soap Queen!
@@ZakirHussain-rs5dx Thank you. I have almond oil! Thanks again. I can hardly wait to get started.
Yes you can! Switch it to olive oil :). I hope you enjoy it
I have a question, it might be a dumb question, if you make a batch, does the bars start rotting after a certain time since it got egg yolk?
Please explain oil and eggs ratio
Is there a substitute for tallow?
