- Brazilian metal legends SEPULTURA have announced their farewell after 40 years with an 18-month worldwide farewell tour featuring current members Derrick Green, Andreas Kisser, Paulo Jr., and Eloy Casagrande. The farewell announcement just begs the question though - will founding members Max Cavalera and Igor Cavalera take part in this? Why did they leave the band to begin with?

You know I agree but it didn't have to go that way. Andreas made it that way and been selling bullshit mediocre at best material since but the Cavaleras put out a bunch of QUALITY as well as more consistent and toured relentlessly since😊... Cavaleras are Sepultura. Should of changed the name FOR sure. Not to mention any Sepul show is almost a cover band with a few originals 😆 that is still 30 years after the split basically...
Hell not even original members in Sepul and if you know history Andreas isn't an original member either and wasn't even on first two albums 😆 ... I would say Paulo is only link to it being really Sepultura. Paulo always seems like a more genuine guy than Andreas to me. It's sad egos,mudslinging,media,peoples wifes kids and brothers even got to be part of this epic bands Demise. None of that should of mattered but it's been constant since 96. I've met Igor,Max and Gloria over the years a couple times. Not a lot. Igor was really genuine and nice. Max is badass but really doesn't care about fans much 😆... Gloria seemed like a control freak and narcissistic to me back stage... I'm from Phoenix where they all live/lived which I know people who know them very well for decades and I ran into them when I was running from a criminal Case living in Colorado at a small venue in Colorado springs. I've met the Cavaleras kids Zyon and Igor several times more than the rest over the years as closer in age... They used to party with all my folks etc and I will tell you they are real and fucking awesome. Ritchie is a bit full of himself but the younger brothers were really good and fun chill folk.

Great cover band! I wouldn’t personally go see a cover band, but they had a great run. Sepultura ended with Max and Igor and Roots. It was one of the best bands in the world.

@@michaelgibbons2556 Andreas was a fundamental part of the band and till this day he's the power machine for the current incarnation of the group. He and Max were like the Lennon and McCartney (Max himself made this statement on his biography) and the chemistry between the four of them made Sepultura.
Although, once the band parted ways, the essence of what was Sepultura in its very core lies on the shoulder of the Cavalera brothers.
Almost 30 years of dragging a legacy through the mud. It's about damn time.

ORIGINAL SEPULTURA IS THAT MORBID GARBAGE, AFTER ANDREAS JOINED IT SHOULD CHANGE TO PESTILENCE (NAME OF ANDREAS' FORMER BAND) BECAUSE BENEATH'S SOUND IS JUST THE SOUND THAT ANDREAS MADE IN HIS BAND, WITHOUT ANDREAS SEPULTURA WOULD NOT HAVE EVEN LEFT THE BRAZIL TO DO A SHOW, IT WAS VERY BAD.
Real metalheads will always know who the real Sepultura is, After Roots I spot listening to them.
I still listen to the band and enjoy some of the music they released with this formation but I don't consider them Sepultura.
Most metalheads listen to Metal and don't care about drama if you don't like the sound of that's fine but all that drama shit is lame

I bought their first album out of interest, NOPE! It was quickly apparent who wrote the vast majority of the music and it wasn't Andreas (he contributed no doubt but you know what I mean).

@@miletitytivadar4974 Probably but you never know. The power of money (if you really need it) is very strong. A reunion would be a huge thing in metal scene.
They should have broken up when Max left the band, so this is long overdue. That said, I believe this is a temporary deal. With Max and Igor reunited once again in Cavalera (which is basically a continuation of the classic Sepultura that everyone knows and loves) I believe that there will be a reunion sometime in the near future with the OG Sepultura lineup. It's just bound to happen. After so many years, they have to bury the hatchet at some point, reunite and make some money again.

Here’s the deal, the bros will never reunite with Sepultura. Why? It would have to be on their terms. You said it, Gloria is a mini Sharon and if you know anything about that Sabbath reunion in 96/97 Iommi had to give up 50% of his ownership to the Osbournes for it to happen. I’m sure Andreas would have to do something similar to the Cavalera’s. Granted, it was their band first but they left and Kisser took over. It’s been his band since 98. That’s 27 years of his devotion, blood, sweat and life he’d have to just hand over to Max and his wife. THAT’S not going to happen.
Max and Igor are re recording classic Sepultura albums and touring under that moniker without the name. Hell! They even are using their old band font. In their heads Cavalera Conspiracy IS the true Sepultura. A lot of people with agree with that. I do not. Max left, end of story. He could have fought for the name, he didn’t so it went to Andreas.
It would be nice to get one final show with the OG lineup but Max and Igor aren’t retiring so why would they do that show?
You say Iommi signing over 50% of Sabbath to Ozzy as if it's a bad thing. They had some good albums in the 80s and early 90s, but financially they were in the toilet and the brand was suffering. The deal with Ozzy brought the brand back to prominence.
You say Gloria is a mini Sharon as if it's a bad thing... Both Sharon and Gloria are pretty awesome managers. Where would Ozzy and Max be without them?

Good-Bye Sepultura, I might say this is the farewell tour, thank you for your impact with the music that had influenced me a lot through my metal journey, Cavalera was the best years of Sepultura for me but I did liked the early Derrick Green Stuffs as well, I am thankful so much with your unrelenting brute music that had inspired me to play Drums willingly and passionately🙂.
Although i think they wasn't the same band after max and igor left they still made great music together and Derek green is a great frontman and singer 💯🤘

In 2015 and 2016 there is so close reunion between the Cavalera brothers with Andreas and Paulo Andreas willing to accept Max return to Sepultura for 30 years anniversary of beneath the remains and Arise tour but Max included his manager and wife Gloria to manage him and Igor but Andreas doesn't want Gloria to involved which is a good move by Andreas if Max not let Gloria involved in the reunion mybe the reunion have happen and we have finally see the original members back together again. Gloria is worse thing that happen to Sepultura she is the reason all of that mess in that band

Calvera conspiracy is really sepulatera and it's as good as chaos but max won't do another masterpiece like the first 6 albums. Roots was the end until late soulfly and calvera conspiracy.

Every album up to and including Roots, are almost equally good in my opinion. There are good songs and there are bad songs pn each. I tend to switch between them, pending my mood and what I else listen to at each given time.

I don't believe they will reunite for any show, but I think would be nice for them at least to take a picture together, with no hard feelings and everyone in peace. It is clear that still today there are a lot of negativity between the sides (sepultura one and cavalera one). Every now and then each side say some shit about the other. Both sides are old enough to act the way they act, I think.

The impression I always get is that the negativity comes from Max. He keeps talking s**t about the band, while Andreas, at the beggening chose to respond, and now just chooses to ignore it.

Nobody stole anything, genius. In 1993 Max drew up a contract that each member owned 25% of Sepultura. If a member were to walk away, they would forfeit all rights to Sepultura. Max left his ball and walked home like a bitch followed by Igor 10 years later.

I hope Derrick and Eloy start something. I don’t want these guys to up and disappear. I hope they have some sort of side project to follow. They don’t need to do anything with the Cavalera brothers, they bailed on their own. No need to bring back past drama.

@@swampcrypt I think it would be cool for nostalgic reasons because I never got a chance to see the classic line up, but I have seen Cavalera and Sepultura on separate occasions and Sepultura with Derrick was better. There’s no need for Cavaleras. I think bringing them out at a Brazil show would be cool. I don’t think it would work for a full tour though

Chaos is my favorite album. I would rather see Sepultura without the Cavaleras to be honest. Those two are still going strong and it's great to see them doing the old stuff.

It really depends. I think some bands do do it as a money grab for sure, but then there are others that have issues that leads to a statement like this which then gets patched up over the "farewell tour" cycle that allows them to continue on.
That being said, I don't think Sepultura would be the type of band to say this as a money grab tactic. I think they are just burnt out which is understandable...The dudes have been going a long time.

Based on their most recent output I still feel they have lots to contribute, I'd honestly rather see Megadeth or Judas Priest call it quits. At the same time I'm 53 and I've been buying metal since I was 11 and I decided next year I was going to quit, except for new releases from my favorite bands, so it feels like a send off for me as well

It's been a painful few decades for them. I'm sure they enjoyed their run in their own way but considering what they could have been verses what they became. Ouch! If only the lead guitarist could have patched things up with Max and his wife.
