@@liquidboss2719 I disagree on the notion that none of them have great stories, but I will make a concession the stories of DMC games are largely just sandboxes to set the stage for the characters, you don't need to have a great story when great characters can carry them all on their own, something DmC just doesn't have. Also I largely recall people holding the Vergil fight in DmC in largely positive regards, with some of it's harshest critics pointing to the segment as the most amount of fun they had in the game as a classic DMC fan. The fight is solid and the setting is solid, all they were missing were likeable characters. DMC5 was a second chance not just for the franchise and characters, but for many ideas that existed in a half-realized "proof of concept" limbo throughout the franchise, something we should all be thankful for.
@@bubbajoe117 You're totally right about that "proof of concept" getting flushed out. There's a reason that Nero's character more closely resembled "Donte" in DMC5. There's also been a push to get away from Dante's hijinks in DMC1/DMC2 as the series went on, and now manifest in Nero.
So good! Usually final boss themes have all these sweeping epic Melodie’s and choirs, but this is different. It’s heavy, dark, and hard! A very unique take on a final boss theme. Amazing production, who the heck wrote this masterpiece?
True, but the problem is that is attitude is not right to rule. Just look how bad takes defeat. Giving him the power now will just make him Mundus 2.0.
@@OrnchesI wouldn't mind if this an alternative DMC timeline that has nothing to do with the original sagas comparisons. I grow loving the atmosphere edgy of this game.
To me, the best part of the DmC game, as the fight continued the weather and environment became chaotic by the minute, as if 2 unstoppable gods were going to all out war with each other, e.i Dante and Vergil
@White-Van Helsing I don't understand what you asking here. There are gods in the original series. The divinity statue is one. And all the DT abilities Dante gets in dmc2 are hearts from gods.
@White-Van Helsing Uh dude, you do realize Dante is godlike right? Literally killed an immortal with a charge shot. Other godlike characters include Mundus, Argosax, Urizen, Sparda, Vergil and Nero. Like ffs Mundus created a pocket universe just so he and Dante could fight. Argosax is immortal and fucked up the human world's time and space just by existing. You know the deal with Sparda. Vergil is Dante's equal and Nero is stronger than Dante was in the dmc5 prolouge. Trust me, they are indeed godlike
@@xenowarrior282 Nero probably is stronger than Dante considering if the player is good enough he can kick Urizen's ass, this is good for skipping Devil Hunter and going to Son of Sparda difficulty, and going from Son of Sparda straight to DMD.
This is for me one of the best DMC soundtracks ever to date. I freakin love this one. Its so agressive. You can feel the anger. The disappointment. The hate. It is brutal
Interesting fact about this song, it also plays in the first mission of the game when you fight the Stygians in the room with the gears. It’s like that in all versions of the game too.
@@urSinKhal Have you played Vergil Must Die? The perfect release windows are very tight, and if you don’t do them consistently you’ll get your ass kicked. The lack of a Dante boss was because of budget constraints. I’m surprised he even got a campaign at all with his own enemies.
Vergil is the better brother and should have won. His ideals aren't necessarily bad. He wanted to rule over humans to protect them. Vergil is Law. Dante wanted humans to be free to do whatever they wanted. Dante is Chaos.
Kin You do understand that regardless of how Mundus treated humans, he's still doing the same thing. Their goal was freedom, and Vergil lied so he could create his own law. He manipulated The Order, Dante, and Kat, to obtain his "power". Dante did the right thing by upholding what Vergil promised them. Freedom might be anarchy, but it's not a lie like law and order.
Geo Terrifrit Nah. Mundus was pretty much a dictator. And an example of an evil one, for that matter. The world was just his playground, everything was his to take in order to get what he wanted. At the beggining of the game we can see he "blackmailing" a president, for fuck sake! I don't think Vergil would have that same position, but power does can corrupt a person with time. Freedom and anarchy are different things that can be related. Law and order aren't lies. Order is just an abstract idea, while law is just another one of mankind's creations in pursue of that very same abstract idea. And it's mankind that fails while using those ideas. If Dante did the right thing or not is just a matter of perspective. But just like everything in human history, things are told by the winner's point of view. What if Vergil was the protagonist, and in the end he defeated Dante? Order and Chaos, Law and Anarchy, Reality and Ilusion, Right and Wrong, in the end it all comes to one's perception. And that's what makes life in society so hard, even if it's necessary.
If Vergil was anything like his previous/future counterpart, he wouldn't stop at ruling over the humans and demons. He'd continue to find means to increase his might, whether it be that he creates his own military, or if he finds a more powerful weapon for himself, etc. Law and order are lies when put in the face of real freedom. I'm aware that's personal opinion, but the fact still remains that laws dilute freedom from its real meaning, giving it a purpose instead of having freedom to be free. Dante did the right thing because he was lied to by Vergil, he was only taking back what was rightfully his after defeating Mundus. Are you saying that Dante should have been passive in the fact that he didn't get what he wanted after helping Vergil? If Vergil was the protagonist, he would be an anti-hero, and Dante would be the justice that saves the world from Vergil's rule. If you're saying that Dante would be defeated instead of Vergil, well, it wouldn't be a very happy ending, would it? Vergil would have his way, and humans would be stuck in a similar predicament, now with more people dead.
@@railtus5433 also agreed 1 to 5 has some major slappers like fire away nelo Angelo sword through sword Vergil's boss theme's 1/2/3 subhuman and the best one in my opinion Bury the light
I don't understand why some people think that the reboot is bad. In my opinion it's actually really good and I really like the rebooted versions of Dante and Vergil.
@@kaihedgie1747 Combat is far simpler and far shallower than the core games (3 to 5). Don't ignore that fact. Reboot is a very good game, but there are plenty of objective reasons why it doesn't stand up as well to the core games.
@@supersbbrawl4ever Shallow? Funny, because DmC's Style system requires you to actually be more varied in your attacks than DMC3. Furthermore, this game _heavily_ influenced both DMC4SE and 5. A lot of the conveniences you especially enjoy in 5 were because of things this game introduced first
@@kaihedgie1747 Is that why the original release's style system was so unbalanced and was actually based on how damaging your moves are? It's much easier to increase style rank in the reboot than in 3. Varied? Is that why they limited combo potential in the original release by having colour-coded enemies? 3 with style switch is massively deeper than the reboot and even without it, the deeper combat engine, lock-on, unique DT mechanics, elemental damage, stun values, Crazy Comboes still gives it a huge edge over the reboot. There's a reason why we have far, far more combo vids of 3 than the reboot. Reboot trivialises jump cancelling, has unbalanced weapons (Aquila lel), Demon evade was horribly OP, only like 6-7 moves per weapon (30-35 with all 5 devil arms in the reboot compared with up to 27 moves with just 2 devil arms with Swordmaster style). And unlike the reboot, which deliberately simplified the combat in order to appeal to casual players, 3 was limited to 1 style, 2 guns and 2 devil arms purely due to the PS2's hardware limits.
Idk why every Vergil's theme song is always awesome, for both Original version, and a Reboot version... Hence why We always feel Motivated all the times... We got a Powerful and Badass in Elegant way vibes in one...
And because I can, a personal edit: “You and I, we saved them!” “You and I?” “Who else?” “...a human.” “Kat was useful, but...” “Useful?(!)” “Kat saved my life! Kat held out under torture to keep your existence a secret! Kat lead us through the fortress to Mundus’ lair- we would have failed 20 times over if it weren’t for her!” “Listen! If you can’t see the chaos humans will bring...then stand aside. I’ll rule alone.” “I didn’t help you beat Mundus so you could take his place!” (Flashback to Phineas) “And if you defeat Mundus...who should take his place?” (Flash to the present) “...I can’t let you do this Vergil” “...and I can’t let you stop me, brother. Stand. Aside.”
This was an interesting take on the dynamic between Dante and Vergil. Idk if I like it more than the original one, but it's fine. Like, Donte aside, if this same ideological conflict between the bros were to occur in a mainline DMC game, I'm sure people would eat it up
I love The Duel track from DMC 5, but everytime I play Mission 19 on DMC 5 I just play this track it's so much more chaotic, really makes it feel like a battle to the death.
Phooey - enjoy it all you want, but it will never be *better* than Devil May Cry. I don't know what DMC you may have played (Dumbass Might Cringe). First of all, Donte was absolute garbage: they completely misunderstood how the actual Dante was intended to be cool, and wound up making an interpretation of him so thoroughly awful that I'd rather play DMC 2. Now he can't make smart jokes, swears every two seconds, takes drugs, and fucks a million girls - he's just an edgy kid trying to come across as cool. Sorry for the rant, but you're trolling here.
The game is just really edgy shit - the alcohol, the dirtiness, the sex. Thank God Ninja Theory won't make a second. Still, you're entitled to an opinion.
In this one i felt like they were more vulnerable and not untouchable semi devil's like in the main games were you have boomer Vergil and Wacky woohoo pizza man. I guess they left Dante personality from DMC3 because it worked but I liked more the personality that he had in DMC1.
I Like how a cutscene is shown whenever you hurt Vergil, Kinda like showing that the bond between him and Dante is being cut ( especially when Dante apologized mid fight and Vergil replied don't be ) .. DmC
> Me and my bro for the first time playing the game > He does something cool > "Wow, how did you do this?" > "I don't know, randomly mashing buttons" > check his alt profile > hours played - 371.4 *music plays*
DmC represents the styles of today's current trends in terms of looks. Don't get butt hurt over a reboot, because if Ninja Theory used the actors and styles from DMC 1-4, then would it really be called a reboot? I loved the game. Between the actors, the combo system and the storyline.
Well, Ratchet & Clank had a reboot in 2016 and James Arnold Taylor, David Kaye, and Jim Ward all reprised their roles as Ratchet, Clank, and Qwark, respectively, even in the movie, so I don't see what you're getting at there. J.K. Simmons also returned from the Sam Raimi trilogy as J. Jonah Jameson in Spider-Man: Far From Home, so again, I really don't see your point about reboots not using the original VAs.
It was more so that they didn't think there needed to be a reboot at all. While I did like the game, I think it would have worked out much better as it's own title rather than having to hold up to the standards of the original games. It certainly didn't help that Ninja Theory straight up insulted fans of the original series in the marketing.
My one serious complaint about this game was the ending. I loved fighting Vergil, but I felt like it was rushed. It should have had Mundus as the final villain. The sequel should have had Dante slowly realizing what Vergil was up to and had them fight at the end. Game three would have Vergil free Sparda from his prison. Sparda is insane with rage and Dante has to stop them.
Allen Babylon there is no offical statement yet. but wouldn't you play it? hell I do! as long as it's well written and visually sexy like the last one. they'll announce it end of the year I assume. *they better ;
mupheminsani From the fact DMC 4 is getting a Special Edition with Vergil, Lady and Trish as playable characters, if it sells better than definitive edition I would be willing to bet the next DMC game will be in the original universe and not the new one. That is if they dont pull a From Soft and let Ninja make DmC while Capcom deals with Devil May Cry.

@@slig4656 >DMC series
>Great stories
They're great games, but none of them have a great story.
That's what I call a battle theme

@@xenowarrior282 in the DmC universe.

Vergil is the better brother and should have won. His ideals aren't necessarily bad. He wanted to rule over humans to protect them.
Vergil is Law.
Dante wanted humans to be free to do whatever they wanted.
Dante is Chaos.
Kin Right amigo!
Kin LOL. Never thought that way. It actually makes sense
This game is very underrated, didn't deserve the hate it got.

@@kaihedgie1747 Ask any hardcore DMC player. They'll tell you that 3 is deeper than the reboot.

DmC represents the styles of today's current trends in terms of looks. Don't get butt hurt over a reboot, because if Ninja Theory used the actors and styles from DMC 1-4, then would it really be called a reboot? I loved the game. Between the actors, the combo system and the storyline.
It is actually an alternative universe more connected to ours but yea right
Well, Ratchet & Clank had a reboot in 2016 and James Arnold Taylor, David Kaye, and Jim Ward all reprised their roles as Ratchet, Clank, and Qwark, respectively, even in the movie, so I don't see what you're getting at there.
People are still gonna get butt hurt over the stupidest shit, like the color of the main characters hair.
