- In this episode, the work on a neglected 2002 BMW E39 530i Touring continues. We repair dead pixels in the cluster, replace LCD screen in 16:9 Navigation unit, replace tailgate shocks, taillights, repair power folding mirrors, install a new stainless steel exhaust, replace the windshield and the rubber seal, PDC sensors, and then, go for a first drive! Mutzi is also back.

When I was a kid, I used to think that the top gear guys had the best job in the world… now at 35 years old, I would LOVE to do everyday what you do Sreten. Keep the amazing work going. Great episode on a great car.
Are you sure? There is a lot of what you don‘t see. Making research, repeating takes, because the camera failed, editing videos and don‘t forget, learn how to edit videos. And after all my understanding is, he still has a main job. Be careful what you ask for. I think, this guy doesn‘t sleep much.

I love that Sreten will do extended footage of driving and puts us in first person. Too many youtube channels fix a car, drive it for 20 seconds on film then call it a day and move to the next project. Well done Sreten!
Those model years rank as some of the best looking BMWs made, elegant but understated, plus they communicated a feeling of solid construction. The new ones look like cartoon caricatures. I don't know what possessed BMW to adopt the current styling. Good work and enjoy the fruits of labors.

The E39 with the M54B30 is such a balanced combination. I miss my 01 sedan and this video series makes me miss her that much more! Good job rejuvenating a classic brother.

You probably know by now that I loooove a nice set of wood trim, but base E39 wood trim I never liked. Birch, Pappel Natur... are much nicer, though hard to find. I'm going to put Technical Graphite trim, works really well with a gray interior and current wood trim is cracked all over the place.

I can highly recommend Eton speakers for the E39! You won't get spine-shattering sub-bass from it but together with a small amp pretty decent sound! And it all looks original!
I really love all BMW touring models, even the old E30 Touring looks fresh.

How can I find the podcast?
Doing little things to a car you love really does make it special. My daily car is a e60 535xi, it’s mostly stock and will remain mostly so. My old love is a 2002 Miata that is far from stock. It was stored (badly) for about five years due to an exploding relationship. When I met my now wife she said that I should make it drive again. She now loves it when I am covered in grease and swearing like a sailor in the garage, she says that it means a lot to her that I’m saving something that means so much to me. She’s the best, the car is a heirloom at this point and yes we have a fluffy little white dog like Streten now! Happy spring to all.
Amazing attention to detail, as always. This is the gold standard when sorting out all the little issues that need to be done right when recommissioning any older car. When I do these sorts of projects on my own E90, I try to keep up to Sreten's standards!

Thank you, that was great fun. Always learning with you. When watchmakers remove hands they often place a ziplock bag over the top and use a pair of curved levers: the pair of levers keeps the forces balanced and the two layers of the ziplock bag slip over each other without marring the surface.
I have a 2001 E39 Touring and started watching your channel because it had heaps of great info and tips about BMWs. I'm so glad you now have the same thing as me and you enjoy it so much! Thanks to you and 50sKid I have done most of the things you've done to Project Rottweil, however next for me is full suspension overhaul. Seeing you do it first has been great, lots of little tips and info to get the job done. Appreciate the info on the B6s too. I can't wait to see how the supercharger goes! I agree with you, E39 Touring is a great car, love mine (an '02 525D Titanium Silver with 270.000Km, just did a major refresh with all new struts and supports, new water pump/fan clutch/thermostat/EGR thermostat/belts/idler pulleys/alternator and a brand new AUX fan. Was driving fine before and now it's driving even better!).
Master Class work on the instrument panel. Those are obiteratingly nightmarish to work on and get perfect, and you did it! Amazing talented guy you are!

I appreciate You Tubers that have a healthy dose of OCD, like you, and others like Sarah n Tuned. Many You Tubers are frustrating to watch, they get the job done, but their methods are so 'bull in a china shop'. They don't sweat the details, and only care care about pumping out 'content'.
I had an E39 525tds 10 years ago. Replaced the shocks, brakes and fixed the damn trunk-struts. That car was a joy to drive. It just felt planted and stable.

Inspired me to do many of repairs to my e61. Very satisfying working through all the little faults and slowly getting it back to an enjoyable condition.
This channel has inspired me to start working on my car. I have a mk6 gti (insert memes here) but over the weekend i changed the oil did the filters and did spark plugs and coil pack upgrade. Gotta start small but was so satisfying doing it myself and not screwing up!

man, its 2am, but this is motivating me so much on getting the cars in my shop done tomorrow, I'm in the process of restoring a neglected 323ci auto by swaping in a full 325i manual conversion, and have so many other cars in the back burmer, seeing your work is so amazing sreten, thank you for the content, and thank you for saving these cars that trully deserve another chance at being on the road.
