I like one thing about this braid more than most of others braids. You don't have a sticker in the hole of the spool and you don't have to break it. A lot of brands do this for show that you used it and you put the braid in the reel. Doing that you can't change the braid if the seller want "because you used the braid already" if for example don't match the braid with the size of your reel
Just wanted to point out a minor detail. At 2:12 you say average thickness .208 mm, claimed .160 mm and that this is +130% above claimed. This is actually +30% above claimed or otherwise 130% of the claimed thickness. Just thought I'd mention it for the sake of accuracy. Nevertheless the results were quite surprising, but at least it's relatively uniform.
Have you used/tested the x4 kairiki? The 15lb line is also 0.16mm (advertised), same as the x8. It is priced cheaper than the x8, so there should be a difference in quality, but not sure what. What do you think?
The x4 I am yet to take a look at but it would sure be interesting to compare the x4 and x8 back to back to understand the difference in construction, diameter and strength.
The rating level on market so fake.. but i have the original rating kairiki from original factory. So you test same the original rating.. well done. U have good tools.

Shimano aren't the only ones that do it, its very common across the industry from what I have seen. As for the reasons, after talking to a few manufacturers about this issue and doing a lot of research I do have a theory on why, however I'm not in a position to state my opinion and risk being a target of some angry people. So for now all I can do is publish the numbers and let people make up their own minds. The Grappler is actually probably the most requested braid so far but I am yet to get my hands on any to test. if your able to donate a little that would be amazing! @@thelinelaboratory ok thanks sent you a message. My guess is they measure the line when it’s at that tension and thats the label they give it. Eg pe1.5 might be rated at 39lb but 0.18 diameter but only when under 39lb of tension. Am I close? Lol

Just replied 😏 actually I have tested diameter under tension and it makes no difference in my experience
