This video gives a detailed description of how the 175 talas are derived in the carnatic music system. The video also talks about Suladi talams, Jatis and Gatis/Nadai in detail
Sir it was an excellent class. All the basic concepts about the carnatic thala's were explained very well here. Thank you sir. Expecting more such classes, especially sruthy, how to find out one's own sruthi and find out shruti of a song, etc from you . Thank you 🙏
The taala system in Carnatic music is complex and difficult to understand. Your effort will surely help students of classical music. God bless you! 🙏🙏🙏

No wonder I could never find the downbeat in Indian classical music! (Westerner here.) Thanks for helping to demystify it, even if I have to watch this a few times to get it.
This video is better than most other intro ones. Thanks very much.. Few suggestions too consider: However before Step 1 a step 0 will help - singing same song in multiple tala so we can know the difference. Is that possible? Also please adjust volume is barely audible except at high setting.. A larger white board so you don't have to keep erasing!!
Thanks Andrew. I will upload another video explaining all the terminologies as well. I will also try to incorporate all the other inputs from the below comments. Thanks for the support 🙂
@@muzikforlife28 Appreciate alot and thanks again.I'm very much interested in your Music, altho' I live in Myanmar(Burma).I've been a professional music teacher as well as a prominent musician and it was my dream since 1980 to study your culture. Thanks again!Hope you and all your countrymen are SAFE from the COVIT PANDEMIC as well.
Namaskar Sir, I've gone through your videos on your UA-cam Channel. They are wonderful and show your dedication/passion for music. I'm also classically trained. But I want to create a muktayi with more than 30 matras to be fitted in Adi Talam. It would be great if the same muktayi can also be fitted into Rupaka Talam (12 matras per avartha, executed with three beats). In both the talas the mukthayi should be arranged till the last matra of the avartha. Can you please help me with the same ? ~Reshma

But are they gestures without a meaning, or do they transmit concepts and have meaning?
