Pro tip for people looking to be super optimal with resources: upgrading your health also heals you, so consider keeping enough Nodes on hand to get to the next HP upgrade when you really need it. The battery glitch in chapter 12 can actually be fixed without having to reinstall and delete your saves. I ran into the same issue earlier today when finishing my first playthrough, and I believe it has to do with using the save point just before that section with the 2 guardians on the door (I think it makes the game have trouble rendering the area fully, which includes the batteries). If you save there for whatever reason the batteries never spawn. I reloaded a save I made right at the beginning of chapter 12 and played through the whole section again and didn't save at the point before the guardian door and the batteries were there.

I have never played a Dead Space game before and I am trying to do this on my first playthrough using a guide by Aussie Gamer 17. These tips are going to be very helpful. Thanks!
I just completed the impossible challenge today. My three main tips are 1. Flamethrower is essential since enemies peel and weaken easily making the plasma cutter or pulse rifle unmatched. 2. Stasis is a must always have packs ready and use it frequently. Do the side mission to get the upgraded stasis it’s OP 3. There’s multiple areas in the game that can be easy Insta deaths. Just remember where they are from previous playthroughs and you’ll be fine. Play a separate hard mode run side by side with the impossible (each chapter back and forth) if needed
Dude I am trying to do impossible and that PSA is super helpful! I saved in chapter 2 because I need to break. But I plan to finally getting all the steam achievements for this game!
I heavily relied on stasis as a safety net in dead space 2 impossible . It was a throw back to see you explain that especially because in that immersive atmosphere it was on of the first things I latched onto knowing ammo would be hard to find. I found myself carrying around slasher spiked to get a free high power shot off on the first enemy I saw. It feels amazing clearing a room using only the enemies own body parts as weapons
As someone currently going through this exact mix of challenges, currently at chapter 5, this run is teaching me how fucking strong kinesis is in the remake. It's definitely dead space 2 kinesis. Necromorph limbs as weapons are an instant knockdown, fan blades from the vents everywhere can sever limbs in a single throw, and of course the spears are a hard instakill. The first thing I do in a new room in impossible is grab a kinesis weapon as fast as I can and use it to chain more kinesis weapons from enemies. I'm using it more than the damn plasma cutter.
I remember playing the original dead space on PS3 and beating it on impossible difficulty (which is not hard at all because dying doesn't matter in that version) with only the plasma cutter. It was my first platinum trophy so dead space is a even more special game to me. I'm probably buy the remake on sale as I have too many games right now to play.
Classic tactics from 2009, but the only weak point and problem of the only Plasma Cutter is little sht swarmears, this real nightmare. So this why Hanz always brings Flammënwerfer
I managed to pull of Impossible mode on the 2nd/3rd of february and had no technical/mechanical issues with the game. I'm kinda glad I didn't know how many ways there were to be softlocked though.
wow you smashed it easy, iv watched a few playthrough's by various gamers & this one was the more incitefull regarding ways round to make things easier
This is honestly just the most efficient way to do impossible mode. It was that way back in the original, too, as it allows you to maximize your ammo efficiency and not worry about it much past the early 2 chapters when ammo is tight. Honestly, it's that way with all the dead space games. Both 2 and 3's challenge runs are best done with just the plasma cutter as it's the most ammo efficient.
Personally I think the plasma cutter is the best weapon in the game. I usually don’t use anything else unless it’s for fun and also ran the Impossible run with it. Nice vid.
15:00 The best part of this is that I died to the fire at this part on a normal play through. and when I respawned all of the fire was glitched out and I could just walk through. XD
I recently beat this game, using only the plasma cutter (3 play throughs and Ingot all the achievements except one gun and untouchable). I died twice, one time in chapter 1, and one time in chapter 12 (thankfully I moved quick and quit the game before it could register that I died in 12 or else I’d have been pissed). Upgrading the plasma cutter to the max setting, including the whip blade is the best thing ever and made the final chapters on impossible mode so much easier.
Fantastic video. Using it to prepare for my final run through the game on Impossible. I do have a minor correction. The game drops ammo for what you carry on your person, not what is equipped necessarily. Basically the same but with a minor difference.
Funny. Did this myself today. Was fun. Only took me one try thankfully but I had to quit out in chapter 9 cause the bomb guy hit the nuke and nearly killed my run. Glad the PC isn't stupidly overpowered compared to everything else in remake like the original. I hated twitchers and dividers that playthrough. Another satisfying platnium trophy
@ 9:10 The game will drop you ammo for guns in your inventory at a much lower rate too. The games AI handler also seems to be responsible for all item drops in most containers, lockers and all of the item crates, re-shuffling what you'll get out of a smashable crate specifically after dying, with the exception of item lockers within the vacinity of a new weapon's location. It also seems to be particularly mischievous in a couple ways I've repeated through my first Medium diff playthrough. If you've smashed open an item crate, looted the item and then die for one reason or another after looting that item for the first time, the next time you recollect the item from that item crate, it's almost always a card for 100 credits. I've replicated this throughout most of my playthrough across multiple save slots. There is a chance of the crate dropping ammo again, but the chances are much slimmer.
I beat the game using only the plasma cutter not knowing about the achievement. I just used it because I knew I'd get more ammo for one weapon rather than splitting between two or more. Also I reinstalled to play (and finished) Dead Space 2 on hardest difficulty and it is NOTICEABLY harder.
The line gun's alt fire is the real ultimate weapon in the game. you can fire it against the wall in front of the vents and just sit back as it LITERALLY fries the the necros.
Lol the save thing, me playing 6 hours straight because I wanted to advance as much as possible before I could rest brought me dead space 2 flashbacks.
I still remember this as my proudest moment, and first and only platinum trophy. The PS4 had reset all of my trophies, that’s losing it, but still my proudest moment
I did this in 2008 with the OG. Plasma is unironically the best weapon. It's cheap to buy ammo, it's strong as hell, and situationally it's great in every encounter. If you store every other weapon, you only get drops for that gun too, which means your ammo issues are semi alleviated, as all reaources can go to one weapon. If anyone reading this is planning an impossible run, I highly advise you use *at most* only 2 weapons. Either don't pick up the others at all, or bring them to storage and forget they exist. The game won't rando drop ammo for a gun you don't have on you. For a second gun, if you feel like you want/need it, I'd advise something like the force gun/ripper. Force gun is a great "get off of me," that also deals with the little crawling things. It's weak, but can come in handy. Ripper is extremely strong upgraded, can deal with the little guys, and it's ammo is a lot cheaper than alternatives. It's also insanely good at dealing with the later stasis necromorphs, which can be a big challenge if you aren't prepared. For all of my runs I instantly throw the pulse rifle in the trash. With enough upgrades it's okay, but why waste resources on an "okay," weapon.
One thing Ive noticed is if an enemy doesnt drop something when killed, just stomp the body and youll get an item every time, even in impossible. Currently doing my impossible run. I did One Gun on Medium though, since i dont feel I am skilled enough to do it on Impossible. Im using Plasma Cutter and Flame Thrower for the crawlies and wall guardians.
Plasma cutter is the best gun anyway lmao it’s old reliable, especially when fully upgraded. The melee knockdown you get in one of the upgrade paths is also super clutch, way better and useful than I thought it would be.
Him: Impossible Mode only let's you have one save slot. Me: **has been playing Dead Space with one save slot because I don't like having multiple saves in one game**
I remembered the past games that's how the ammo system works outside of specific places that has specific loot, otherwise the game only gives you ammo based on what you have equipped in your inventory slot, and i remembered one way to earn money was having your main weapon and a contact beam equipped so you can get contact beam ammo, which sells for the highest price.
I recently got the One Gun trophy on Hard difficulty and only died about 3 times, none of which were to any of the bosses so I'm pretty confident about Impossible mode. Just using the plasma cutter allows you to focus on the mission instead of worrying about what ammo to buy or what weapons to use. I found it pretty enjoyable.
Only using the plasma cutter is a legitimate strat for impossible mode as item drops count against the amount of weapons you have in either inventory and even the storage. That is why it seemed like you were getting so much cutter ammo in the beginning. For anyone who just wants to beat impossible without the other achievement, I recommend only running cutter and flame thrower as they are arguably are the most versatile weapons in the game. Also, with having less guns in your inventory, you can prioritize node usage on less things, allowing these guns to have max-level stats early on, and also allows you to upgrade your suit more.
Nothing happens when you make it into the room with Hammond and Chen with the singularity core. You can't interact with them or even die to the core. You just get a closer look. I even picked up the core before the cutscene ended and no softlock or anything 👍
My ammo conservation method is shooting off arms and nailing necros to the wall with their own bone spears. The sound and sight of which, are immensely satisfying.
Amazing game. Played the original back in the 2000s and playing the remake now. Plasma cutter is my number 1 go-to weapon though. Its definitely the best in the game. And by far one of the great iconic guns of gaming history. Id say its up there with the supershotgun from the original DOOM II Hell on Earth
pro tip: if you’re in a room that you know an infector will be in (eventually) stomp out every corpse in the room, the infector won’t be able to infect those corpses anymore
I just did the same, the game is far easier then the original's Impossible, made it through my first playthrough no deaths and only died on my final runs to clear achievements by, 1. Walking into the gravity plating (Which you can survive with enough health but I believe you need HP upgrades) 2. Touching the stationary blades when going to the asteroid to plant the SOS, purely because I just wasn't paying attention and touched them after completing all objectives, they weren't moving so I just guessed it'd be safe to switch off and hold W. I was wrong. 3, 4. The torpedo room, first time I just wanted to see what happens if you shoot the exploder, second time I had the DoT Stasis upgrade which made him blow up. Amazing remake though, if RE4 and System Shock can nail it then 2023 might start off as a really strong year for gaming.
You madman actually fid it! I can't watch this now, cause I want to beat impossible on my own knowledge/strategies. But still like the vid for the grind!
I did this in the original Dead Space 1, however impossible mode in that one was not permadeath. I'm planning on 100% this game so I was gonna do it anyways. Plasma Cutter only is probably the best route anyways due to ammo scarcity
I feel this may be the most possible way of going about things where trophies are concerned. Trophies are now like necromorphs, no matter how much you may tear them up... they may return, tore down and reanimated with the same amount if not more, Salt(in the wound you newb)!
Nice to see allready some speedrun techs. I found it surprisingly easy to do that with only the PC. I just needed the contact beam in the US Valor cause I had no PC ammo anymore... My tip. Just use the PC and have the contact beam or force gun in your inventory and just sell every stack of ammo you get from these two. With that you have never ammo or health problems. (I went only with 100 PC shots into chapter 9 cause I thought it has a shop, it has not...). Good luck.
Beat the Impossible/1 gun run! I died twice. Once the AI director got me in a tiny hallway with like 6 necros. 2nd time in ch. 12, I decided to play drunk. The stakes so high make the game so much more tense and engaging. Impossible with the Hand Cannon though? Feels like Story mode. Pew pew!

"Caution you are about to overwrite a previous save file" 😂😂😂😂 I never used more then one save back in the day lol 😂
I locked up exactly where you did at the end on my impossible run. Thank God I was able to load my last save with no issues and get the platinum.
It's definitely not worth £70 anyway.....
Classic tactics from 2009, but the only weak point and problem of the only Plasma Cutter is little sht swarmears, this real nightmare. So this why Hanz always brings Flammënwerfer
the last upgrade of the cutter that makes you mike tyson is such an awesome spike of power
i liked the video when u used the phrase "hitting' the griddy on them necromorphs" xD
I got soft locked more then 10x my first time playing. The fact you beat it without it doing it is mind blowing
I managed to pull of Impossible mode on the 2nd/3rd of february and had no technical/mechanical issues with the game. I'm kinda glad I didn't know how many ways there were to be softlocked though.
love how you got Machine Girl playing!
Here before this blows up 👀
wow you smashed it easy, iv watched a few playthrough's by various gamers & this one was the more incitefull regarding ways round to make things easier
This guy is a godsend for the single weapon ammo exploit. This saved my ass big time
Personally I think the plasma cutter is the best weapon in the game.
Love that plasma cutter.. shits OP once you upgrade it fully.
Please, the plasma cutter is goated, it's no shock that you can beat it all with it
Fantastic video.
Glad to see you can still kinesis throw pipes and stomp enemies to death while still doing plasma cutter only achievement
Also I reinstalled to play (and finished) Dead Space 2 on hardest difficulty and it is NOTICEABLY harder.
person who's actually gotten every achievement: Doubt
The line gun's alt fire is the real ultimate weapon in the game. you can fire it against the wall in front of the vents and just sit back as it LITERALLY fries the the necros.
The thumbnail is pretty good
The Plasma Cutter is like a Jedi's Lightsaber, the only thing you need! :)
Dead Space is the reason why I keep upgrading the first weapon to max first Plasma Cutter just feels so good
Lol the save thing, me playing 6 hours straight because I wanted to advance as much as possible before I could rest brought me dead space 2 flashbacks.
I still remember this as my proudest moment, and first and only platinum trophy. The PS4 had reset all of my trophies, that’s losing it, but still my proudest moment
This dude is informative with tech & hilarious 😂 great channel
Impossible + Only Plasma in Original: easy peasy lemon squeezy
Impossible + Only Plasma in Remake: “I want my old Plasma back 😭”
i cannot wait to see that kind of crazy tech people will come up with to speedrun this game, this was just a taste.
11:42 don’t forget to grab those bombs with kinesis an throw them back at the Leviathan.
Plasma cutter is the best weapon in Isaac's tool bag. Remains undefeated 🙌
Just discovered your content, love the commentary, subscribed
One thing Ive noticed is if an enemy doesnt drop something when killed, just stomp the body and youll get an item every time, even in impossible. Currently doing my impossible run. I did One Gun on Medium though, since i dont feel I am skilled enough to do it on Impossible. Im using Plasma Cutter and Flame Thrower for the crawlies and wall guardians.
I can't believe I've never played this game till this remake on pc. Holy cow batman! It's guuuD
literally subbed because I love when you say hit the griddy 🤣
You got my sub once you mentioned the griddy
“Hitting the Griddy on these necromorphs” ☠️
I recently got the One Gun trophy on Hard difficulty and only died about 3 times, none of which were to any of the bosses so I'm pretty confident about Impossible mode. Just using the plasma cutter allows you to focus on the mission instead of worrying about what ammo to buy or what weapons to use. I found it pretty enjoyable.
Jokes on you, I beat DS1 & 2 like this on my 2nd playthrough. Kinda sad that I had no one to share it with :c
This video has been very informative for me. I think I’m ready to attempt this challenge, thanks
Literally the only weapon you need anways, gg
Dude the Ishimura has logged more deaths on me than the necromorphs and in the goofiest ways possible
"Impossible" but the game gives you everything you need all the time
Noice! I did the same as my first playthrough of the game. This remake was soooo goooood!!!!
Nothing happens when you make it into the room with Hammond and Chen with the singularity core. You can't interact with them or even die to the core. You just get a closer look. I even picked up the core before the cutscene ended and no softlock or anything 👍
I finally got the pew pew bang bang hun and I love it!
I think this is how most people that finished impossible difficulty did it. I did, cutter OP! Pew Pew Bang Bang!
already having speedruns on the third day of release is wild
You're wild bro
My ammo conservation method is shooting off arms and nailing necros to the wall with their own bone spears. The sound and sight of which, are immensely satisfying.
lore accurate isaac clarke
Step one : be built different, step two : refer to step one
Amazing game. Played the original back in the 2000s and playing the remake now. Plasma cutter is my number 1 go-to weapon though. Its definitely the best in the game. And by far one of the great iconic guns of gaming history. Id say its up there with the supershotgun from the original DOOM II Hell on Earth
pro tip: if you’re in a room that you know an infector will be in (eventually) stomp out every corpse in the room, the infector won’t be able to infect those corpses anymore
I just did the same, the game is far easier then the original's Impossible, made it through my first playthrough no deaths and only died on my final runs to clear achievements by,
1. Walking into the gravity plating (Which you can survive with enough health but I believe you need HP upgrades)
Little Caesars? Uh BASED! 12:02
Honestly what makes the challenge trivial is the Prototype Statis Module you get for Doing Nicole's Side mission
I thought that was mercer's side mission
You madman actually fid it!
I can't watch this now, cause I want to beat impossible on my own knowledge/strategies. But still like the vid for the grind!
I did this in the original Dead Space 1, however impossible mode in that one was not permadeath. I'm planning on 100% this game so I was gonna do it anyways. Plasma Cutter only is probably the best route anyways due to ammo scarcity
Based, its how I play the game. I dont use any of the other weapons just to try and sim what it could possibly be like
I feel this may be the most possible way of going about things where trophies are concerned. Trophies are now like necromorphs, no matter how much you may tear them up... they may return, tore down and reanimated with the same amount if not more, Salt(in the wound you newb)!
Plausible not possible... apologies
The American school system has failed you" LOL
Pew pew!
