  • In Infinity every miniature that has the Impetuous skill has an additional order, called an Impetuous Order. The Impetuous order must be used to advance towards the nearest enemy model. It?s risky? but Impetuous soldiers don?t care they just want to defeat the enemy!

Love these vids. Really helping me make the transition from 40k to Infinity

That is the description of the "Frenzy" hability. A "Frenzy" soldier becomes "Impetuous" (and begins the turn with an extra impetuous order) if he caused a Wound in the previous turn.

So Impetuous is kind of like the 'Rage' rule in 40k, except that you can order them to stay back if you really need to. Interesting. I have to say that I really like this system, plus it would give me a chance to use all my d20's from my D&D days.

@parkarboy73 Could be a reactionary thing... we're talking like mere feet here... a soldier running right up to another. That means the soldiers need to identify if its friendly, bring their weapons up to bear, aim, and fire... Seems like it could work.

So, Infinity can never replace 40K for me (I dig the huge scale armies and fluff too much...), but lordy, this is certainly looking better as a secondary game than Warmahordes had.

I also think that shooting is in this case resolved before CC.

Frenzy has two entries, pag 157 and 161 (PDF from the site) The 157 remark is just that, a remark. Page 161 is an explanation of the order layout of frenzy. Frenzy is a state of mind of the troops after their controller/ controler device is dead/disabled.
If the unit goes into frenzy it must use the impetuous order (if active already, i think) and normal orders: that is the only link between impetuous and frenzy.
Frenzy= unit is everyones enemy and uses the orders it has to attack.

@bostria, dont know what you mean. The text i quoted is from the rulebook and it is about Impetuous, not frenzy. Frenzy is something else, maybe something similar that i dont know.

@bostria, No i don't get anry. Maybe a littlebit but that's because of The Beast of War. I do find Infinity very interesting and i have to make a dissision what to play.
So there are two forms of frenzy:
    1) frenzy leading to the impetuous order, and
    2) frenzy from antipode and contained within the settings of antipode?

    Hello again :)
Now you are confusing the "Antipode" rule with the "Frenzy" rule.
There are many troops with "Frenzy" in their troop profile, like an Hospitalier Knight, for example. Then, there are miniatures with "Impetuous" like Shaolin monks.
Page 161. You are reading the "Antipode" rule that is only applied to the "Antipodes Assault Pack", one very specific troop from the Ariadna Army.
Please, don't get angry at me, just trying to help here. Have a nice day.

    Hello :)
Rulebook, page 157. There is a section for "Fury" and it says about three different types: "Not Impetuous", "Impetuous" and "Frenzy" (right below the chart).
Believe me, I've been playing this game for ages.

Wouldn't the enemy all open fire before base to base combat?

  • @nibler887

So the impetuous order is just an extra order with special movemend rule?

  • @nibler887
    @nibler887 12 років тому

After having caused a Wound, the miniature (with the impetuous ability) automatically becomes Impetuous for the rest of the game, losing the advantages
from skills like CH: Camouflage and CH: TO Camouflage, reducing
his skill level to that of CH: Mimetism. The free Impetuous Order
is obtained at the beginning of the next Active turn.

@MrXhukari I think it was to make the video simple myself because in a game it would be death on a stick to make that move without smoke. hehe which is the next video :)

Think about them as different rules, one is "Frenzy" and the other is "Antipode".
"Frenzy" is when a troop that has wounded an enemy in the previous turn becomes "Impetuous" in his next active turn.
"Antipode" is only applied to those Ariadnan beasts. If their controller is killed/deactivated in the previous turn, they have to make a roll at the begining of the new active turn, if they fail, they become "Impetuous" and attack closest miniature, friend or foe.

I think this had potential...they made the rules to convoluted with high and low rolls...they could have simplified it with only beat X number rolls sort of like Kings of War...and less rolls...with all these rolls high and low your falling into the slow grind of war hammer 40k yawn fest...
