thank you the trick with the wire save me a disassembly and has my dryer closing again, now I just need to figure out what bearing needs to be replaced to stop the drum rumbling

Thank you! I had the latch replaced, but I couldn’t work out why the door wouldn’t close. One bent metal curtain hook later, it was closing again!
So simple!! this saved me a call-out charge from Bosch, which would have cost me £110. And it's not obvious what causes the problem, until you see this. Thanks.

Indeed a great tip. Doesn't matter which brand or type you have, seem to be the same for all these devices. Door now closes fine again after having replaced the latch.

Pulling the latch out! I could not work out what I was ding wrong (on a completely different dryer) after I replaced the broken catch! After watching this and finding a bent piece of metal (used a bulldog clip) I was fixed.
I doff my cap to you Sir! I thought I'd need to get a new dryer, but a £6 catch on Amazon + your unlocking technique has saved the day.

Broke the latch.. it went in.. had to take most of it apart to get it back. Then realised it was just the on door hook that was broken. Swollen hand and found a dead mouse. If only you said check door hook 1st. It was such a clean cut, didn't realise it was broken.
Very useful, will give the wire trick a go.
