Top tip Matt: Dog hair comes out of carpet with rubber washing-up gloves. Works just as well as purpose-made tools - just drag the your gloved hand across the carpet and hoover up the ball of fur that collects. Use a little water on the gloves to stop them getting rug burn and ripping into holes. Source: I used to run my own mobile valeting/detailing service.
No one likes a limp boot strut 😂 Serious note though, loads of content recently which no doubt takes ages to film and edit so thanks for the entertainment Matt! Keep up the good work 💪
Great to have so many videos recently. I find that a steam cleaner is much better at removing window tint. Once you have started on a corner you can concentrate the steam on the area that you are peeling off right between the tint and the glass. You can usually take the whole thing off in one go.
Agreed. Certain other UA-camr is great but jobs seem to be abandoned quickly due to little/no organisation or prior planning. Playing on that as being your 'thing' is ok up to a point but the time quickly comes where the audience wants to see some decent progress.
Plastic tint removal. The longer its on the harder it is to come off. I found it easier to get off using her indoors's hair dryer at full blast. Top tip. Use a stuff called "sticky stuff remover" not a wynd up it is the actual name of the product. It's a liquid you apply it liberally to the residue and after 5 mins wait you rub/wipe it off. Job Done ,no hassle.👌
Tip for getting dog hair out of the carpets. Buy a dedicated brush which has rubber bristles, they are very effective and are available through various car detailing equipment suppliers. Also a stiff brush to use while vacuuming is useful.
It's nice to see you do some maintenance where you didn't have to struggle with rusted bolts and seized drop links. It's the little improvements that can sometimes make the biggest difference. 😊
Great to see Hippo getting treated. My Christine got a good wash and polish today. I call her Christine because she has a mind of her own and does random things at random times weather you’re in the car or not…. Work that one out.
Nice work Matt, small but worthwhile upgrades. That rear tint is frustrating and so labour intensive. Love you taking some time out to admire your handiwork, I can recommend it!
Interesting video, Matt. Lovely to see the Hippo getting attention. By the time you are done, that will be a very neat job indeed. As an aside, I had people ask me what colour the interior of my 79 Ford Thunderbird was supposed to be. Beagle IS a colour, least wise in my lexicon
No way I mentioned the heat gun being an essential part of my kit in the last barn video and you've only gone and bought one! I'd definetly get a bigger 4ah battery for the heat gun, particularly as you've got 4 D20 tools now. Your managing to make jobs look much easier with every tool you buy these days, at this rate of success that freelander will be concourse given another month🤣
Those jobs were booted into touch without any hassle. Often wondered why manufactures reverted back to stuck on screen heaters from the fine almost invisible wire in the glass ones, cost I imagine which was often passed on as an optional extra.
It's amazing what can be run off batteries now!! I recently found a Cordless Henry hoover!! That surprised me, probably more than it should off 🤣 good work Mate
looks like the hippo is loving the care it's getting .. while you've got the lithium grease out , give the bonnet mech & cable a squirt , these have a nasty habit of seizing on FL 1's ( don't think it's lack of use .. lol )
There's a tool to get at that dog hair, many a detailer swears by them! The rear window is fixed I presume; it looks like it would go down into the rear tailgate. Nice job!
I take it your rear tailgate glass doesn't go down half inch when you open and close the door , so it can sit under that rubber seal, it did on mine and you could open the window as well, that was about the only thing that did work on it , I never knew it had that gas strut underneath lo,
These Draper things appear to be the same as Lidl's Parkside 20V stuff. I've got an 1/2" impact driver with 4Ah battery pack. That's probably the battery pack you want on a heat gun.
I too used SGS to get a new boot strut for my Volvo 960, however it still doesn't seem as strong as it should be. Much, much better than it was, but I still don't think it's perfect. I was going to see if the struts change over the next few weeks/uses.
I may not be correct, but it was my understanding that the boot strut was supposed to be that way, having to be opened half way before having to be pushed further for it to extend fully and that it was so that if you were parked against a wall or a car had parked close behind you and you wanted to open the boot it didn't swing wide open and smash into that wall / car. (Tbh it has certainly been useful to me in tight spaces even if I am wrong!) That new strut is certainly very powerful though! I can imagine that heat gun will absolutely demolish batteries too, heat generation consumes a heck of a lot of energy!
It dod have a pause mid way before, but was dead weight dragging until the last few degrees. Maybe Land Rover sell a replacement that does that but that wont be cheap!
I see your strutting your rear again Matt 😁, dog hair is the bane of my life and I only let the dogs sit on the roof while driving 😉 so much cleaner and more room in my car now 👌🏻, nice lock box fix Matt 👍🏻.
by the way the fact that the dude asked if you needed two is cool because he didnt need to ask but he did because he didnt want you to go through the trouble
Matt, I thought we were having a big reveal but instead 1/2 of one (window tint gone). Then you moved on to junk in the trunk (with stowage box). Seriously I have done a tint removal years ago but we used a steam adaptor of wallpaper stripper will depend on the glue if it will be quick or slow.
Lovely jubly again, Matt. Great content and a lot of it, lately 💪🏻😃 Maybe the heat gun works better if you put the flat nozzle on because it will concentrate it better?
If you're fancying another light electronics challenge, it's fairly easy to run most cordless tools corded by using a cheap power supply and some convertors and adaptors. In a similar vein, I ended up using a car battery to run a hedge saw to great effect, until I accidentally cut the cord with my aggressive swiping.
To tidy up that boot flap and the boot carpet, you could try the dodgy car dealer trick of giving the whole floor a dusting of matt black aerosol paint ;-)
Hello. Do you have a “lily” brush. We have one as we also have a Labrador who spends his time in the car weaving his bum fluff into the boot carpet despite rugs towels and boot protectors. A Lily brush makes short work dog it though. Thank me later😉
Pretty sure you're supposed to spray grease all over the entire door hinge area or you haven't done it right. The more body paint you put it on, the better.
Mate, I had a V6 52 plate. Great engine and noise, but omg, everything else was wrong. Wrong wrong wrong. Mine still had four wheel drive. I had a Disco 3 for nine months whilst they had my freelander. Until that broke down. Then they gave me a tdi Focus. First car I ever had that spun its front wheels in 5th.
Have to ask Matt, given the original boot cover was in better cosmetic nick, why not just swap out the locking bars ? Were the retainers broken as well ? Old Tint and rear demisters . . .always fun and games !! She's coming up nicely . . . well done !!
A couple of years ago i had loads of problems with my mobile phone company........ your car reg. number would have come in really handy back then....😂😂
I gave up on cordless tools some years ago as I prefer stuff that will keep working all day. I also found that the batteries don't last many years before they fail to hold a charge.
I have a name suggestion for the Ford crown Victoria. Why not call it Sheriff just because it’s a police spec Americana. It popped up in my head just now. No need to do that but I suggested it just in case. Stay healthy and awesome.
I don't like window tint. It looks juvenile. The police certainly don't like it..."I'm a ba-a-ad hombre' " lol. It's a hazard at night...maybe in the Southern states (USA).
I'm liking the content just recently, the Furious fleet is growing with some decent motors.

I've just stripped all the back tints off my Frontera and found nail varnish remover (with acetate) did the trick and got the glue off nicely too.
08:43 Note to self - Check key before you start 😁
Another great Vid.
Cheers Matt 👍
My rear glass got broken and finding the correct OPTIKOOL tinted replacement was much more difficult than I expected. I still use it daily, great car.
1:08 somebody threw in the towel! And you could'a been a contender, Rocky! 😁🥊
I like how you’re organised and get stuff done. Unlike a certain other UA-camr who’s head seems to be all over the place

3 videos in 24 hours??!.....'ambassador, you are spoiling us!"
Lovely Jubbly Matt, your FL is improving with every video.
I turned on the heated rear window aswell as a heat gun that worked well.
if you use the heat gum without an attachment the heat will go everywhere , stick the wide tapered attachment on
The Freelander is coming along now, the rear window tint certainly is a distraction with the sign writing, it’s great go see it gone lol ❤️.
You're on a roll with all the fix videos
Tip for getting dog hair out of the carpets. Buy a dedicated brush which has rubber bristles, they are very effective and are available through various car detailing equipment suppliers. Also a stiff brush to use while vacuuming is useful.
SGS are first rate, great service, and a photo emailed to them once, they corrected the orientation of struts fitted to a Scimitar - doh!
It's nice to see you do some maintenance where you didn't have to struggle with rusted bolts and seized drop links. It's the little improvements that can sometimes make the biggest difference. 😊
Heat guns use waaay to much power to be cordless for everything but very small jobs
Great to see Hippo getting treated. My Christine got a good wash and polish today. I call her Christine because she has a mind of her own and does random things at random times weather you’re in the car or not…. Work that one out.
Well done for doing the gas ram. So few FL1 owners bother doing it. Then they moan like mad when they rip the tailgate handle off.
Good effort! Would it not be easier to change the tailgate glass?
Wrap sellotape or any tape around your hand to remove DOG hair , great content matt !!!!! 👍👍👍👍👍
It looks like the rear window guides are a bit worn. The glass is wanging about an alarming amount relative to the boot.
Nice work Matt, small but worthwhile upgrades. That rear tint is frustrating and so labour intensive. Love you taking some time out to admire your handiwork, I can recommend it!

It was in the box with the other stuff but I was saving it for this!
Loving all the new fleet members can't wait to see the rover getting fettled again & back fighting fit
Its always satisfying making your car a little bit better. 👍
I just used petrol on the tint matt devolves the glue and the rear heater element is still OK Al the best donny
Boot strut is easy , Waits for Ian of Hubnut to say "Ever done a Citroen C5?? " Nice to see the hippo getting some love.
It was a bit obvious that a battery powered heat gun would not last long, ok for doing bit's like heat shrink cable insulation and small jobs.
The man from Draper he say yes 🤓😉
Rubber bristle hand brush is best for dog hair. Brush into a pile and then hoover.

Nice self opening tailgate. Just the thing in a car park when you're only 3ft from the wall or another car.
just open the glass
When you spotted the storage lid was broken and you tightened the bolt back up, the ratchet sound was almost sad!
Great video, have you got that old p6 running yet. 👍
Where there sparewheel covers for this model? And is the size of the tire standard, if not, maybe one of those won't fit?
covers were available, not standard on all trims
Another great video has always matt

I thought it better to spread it rather than focus a hot spot on the glass, which might crack then
Another great tinkering video Matt, just a quick question what's the filler cap in the lockable boot storage area?
is that the yellow thing? Its a screw down thing to keep the jack tool box in place
@@furiousdriving that's the one! And that's the answer! I thought maybe you had a MGF Style oil filler

could have possibly used the rear window heater to do the bulk of the work?
might have given a head start but this is much, much hotter
I would love to buy that car when your finished with it!! good work
Enjoyed that, many thanks.

There’s something oddly satisfying watching you peel that tint off 🥴
Totally agree, hate the stuff. If it wasn't on originally why have it? Recently de-tinted my Frontera and looks far sharper and less chavvy now
