Are you changing the drive mode, highspeed+ (~40fps electronic, 12 mechanical), highspeed, (~20fps elec, 5/7 mech.)? Low (~5fps elec, 3 mech). While there may not be a super easy way to change to each of those. That gives you the choice of either~ 3, 5, 7, 12, 20, and 40 FPS. To me, that seems like a pretty good set of options.
I should have been more clear in the video. My idea would be for the user to define how much lower they’d want to go, not a predefined value. Also in sports anything below 10FPS in my experience is slow and while workable, not ideal, so anything below that I’d ignore. Why can’t we have the best of both worlds 😅 (mechanical and electronic shutter).
PS - those values you mentioned, for those not aware are actually in the manual. cam.start.canon/id/C012/manual/html/UG-05_AF-Drive_0120.html Again though, not exactly the point I was trying to make, my bad.
@@MLeeMediaahh, so you want something like 10, 20, 30, 40? That indeed would be nice. While they would all have to be approximate, based on batter power and other settings, it certainly would be cool to have more options to choose from.
100% agree. 40fps is a non starter, 20 is overkill. I want 15fps in my R6 ii. I mixed up electronic and electronic first curtain today. The distortion on the football means I couldn’t use the ES too much.
Well stated David. It doesn’t pertain to me as I won’t be able to transform to mirrorless any time soon as my wallet won’t allow. I’ll have to stick with my tried and tested 1DX bodies complimented with my 6D. Old man using old equipment.
Both of my DSLRs shoot 4 fps...I still get good results. I couldn't deal with the volume of 1,000s upon 1,000s of photos from a 40 fps camera! There will come a day, when photographers will just shoot 60MP video at 120 fps at this rate.
That’s what I miss after switching from Fujifilm to Canon: Fujifilm let’s you reduce the fps in my X-H2s and it makes clicking noises as a simulated shutter sound in electronic mode. Still: I only shoot electronic with the R6 - this works, cause the number of pictures in a burst shoot is OK, even a bit slow. With my X-H2s I had to limit the fps to 30 or 20. I come home with3.500 - 5000 images and it takes me around 45 - 60 minutes to chose the keepers in Photo Mechanics. I usually keep and edit around 250-350 images per game.
@@stubones Wow - when I bought the R6 I really searched for that feature and got the answer, that it does not exist. I will look for that option again immediately!
By the way, how R6 ii is doing with electronic shutter in terms of rolling shutter issues? I’m mostly shooting tennis and I hate bended rackets and egg-tennis-balls when I’m using ES in my current camera.
I actually have a video talking about that (rolling shutter on the R6 II) already scheduled for November 1st, but not to make you wait, mechanical shutter is preferred for most situations, and tennis would definitely be one where I would not use ES. That's not to say ES doesn't have some advantages though.

@@malmedia Yeap exactly. Just like we can adjust other settings (i.e. shutter speed, aperture, etc) it would be awesome if we could do the same here.
@@MLeeMedia Maybe one day we will see the R5 Mark # come out with some "Medium" drive modes, and that may trickle down the to lower end models.
Exactly! Being able to control the amount of frames in electronic shutter mode would definitely be a boon.

If it does the job then that’s what matters. ✌️
I'm still "stuck" in the stone age with my 5d2 but I love it!

nunca tinha pensado nisso, mas faz muito sentido.
Would be great for sports and wildlife areas to have an adjustable frame rates

Canon has a simulated shutter sound in ES. It even has different volume levels. I use it with the sound on low just so I know I’m actually shooting 😂
