I'm one of those people who are not into cars, although I have a driving licence, I watch top gear though, or did. I also think Clarkson's farming programme was fantastic. You can see he isn't acting and he is just being himself; which is even more fun to watch.
I am not into cars ... but I did learn some stuff from Top Gear ... like "car manufacturers can put TERRIBLE GEARBOXES in a car" that have bad gear switch speeds.

The reason most of the stars appear on Top Gear is because they did a segment in the show called A Star In A Reasonably Priced Car, where various famous people got to drive a really crappy car around the Top Gear racetrack, they were timed and the times were displayed in the studio on a board. It got quite competitive, as a different star turned up each week for years to try and get a good time. I'd recommend you watch the clip of when Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz did the show together, I don't think I've seen actors look so genuinely excited even at an Oscars ceremony.

The caravan episode! A classic! As a Brit who is not very interested in cars, I have to say, I happened to see that one and I started watching Top Gear because of it. It was such a hugely enjoyable, hilarious piece of TV. The bit near the end where...no, I won't spoil it. But I was crying laughing by the end, that's all I'll say.
Top Gear hasn't been anywhere near as good since Clarkson, May and Hammond left to do the Grand Tour on Amazon prime. My favourite Top Gear specials were the Vietnam and the Bolivia specials. I also loved the challenges with the amphibious cars. Try watching the one with the lake and then the English Channel crossing attempt. Keep up the good work
As an Australian, I don't think we're similar to Southern Americans as we don't have guns next to our beds, don't use the bible as a law book and don't dislike foreigners.

Top Gear is a great series to get into. Clarkson and his friends(May and Hammond) make jokes about EVERYONE, and they've had all of the very biggest stars on their show, including F1 drivers. It's a car show for people who might not even be car enthusiasts.
He made the British don't shoot at their allies joke because at that time the US air force bombed by accident British soldiers killing and injuring some.

From a Kiwi perspective, the stereotypical Aussie is a bit like the stereotypical southern US folks. Like that uncle that you really only see at a Christmas BBQ, who gets drunk pretty early on, needs to be kept an eye on around the younger girls, and keeps telling racist jokes that no one else likes.
There was one person who was worse than George Bush at spelling, if you remember him, Vice President Dan Quayle, screwed up the spelling of potato in front of some schoolchildren and on camera as well.
Clarkson is a worldwide gem for all to be offended by. After all, he was declared “offender of the realm” a while back! Personally, I think his filter was turned off back in the 1980s and was never turned back on, that’s a great thing. If it was turned back on, he would of been just another boring journalist who wrote about cars Also, find “clarkson on tv”. That show made me chuckle a lot. He goes after everyone on that one - no quarter!

The best thing about this little pokey motoring show is that F1 drivers took it really seriously. They had an F1 lap board and apparently it got very competitive amongst professional racing drivers 😂
If you can, try some of the top gear challenges. The reliant shuttle or ambulance challenges (or any of them) to see why this show was/still is so popular.
The 'stars' come on to do a lap in a reasonably priced car and compete for the best score. They had a test driver/character called 'The Stig' who they would introduced with a new line every time, which became a running gag. eg He has no face. He is terrified of Scouts. The drinks cabinet in his car contains 14 different types of custard. His favourite T-shirt has a picture of a T-shirt. He is afraid of bells. He is confused by stairs. He never blinks. He naturally faces magnetic north. The Stig's identity was meant to be uknown to keep the intrigue eg he wore a helment and a white jacket so his identity was unknown. Then it got leaked that it was Perry McCarthy a former racing driver, so they had to get rid of him because it was pointless if they all knew who he is. They did one in the US with 'the stig's american cousin' who was fat. However my fav moment was during that post-stig period when they did the Middle East nativity special where they had to buy gifts in iraq (or was it syria? i forget) and drive them to Bethelehem for Baby Jesus. as the '3 wise men bearing gifts'.At the end when they introduced the 'baby Jesus', it was a baby stig. oh and Clarkson brought a Nintendo DS for Baby Jesus.

Most British people love America. I remember being in Texas during American independence day and being asked was it uncomfortable for me (as a Briton I guess), I was so shocked by the question that I didn't immediately have an answer and that's because I've never heard anyone speak about America becoming independent from Britain with any regret which means we are on the side of the American people no? Thank goodness you chucked the British out. ...but also, Clarkson is being funny when he's talking about American cars being rubbish because we all know that's not true and that's what makes it funny. I'm sure he loves both America and at least some American cars. I love America.
It's a bit of a shame, there have been lots of great or at least great looking American cars. They tend to be unfit for Europe because of corners and size, but still have lots of fans and clubs all over Europe. Cadillac was a great luxury brand but the whole American car industry took the wrong turn decades ago. The Escalade was basically a 1950's engine on a 1920's ladder chassis. Americ doesn't need to make efficient well cornering compact cars to do better than that.
There have certainly been some really good looking American cars but the build quality has always been atrocious. I REALLY love the look of the 50's 'vette but it was still a shit car.
@@michaelmay5453 Yes, but that was a cheap sports car, certainly by European standards. Currency and tax has been in the way for good comparison for long, but European high end was much more high end, while Americans replaced their cars with a newer more fashionable model more often. And they do last relatively well for low build quality. There also have been lots more great looking American cars, also in the not too fancy models. Lots of really creatively and neat styled cars that did luxury rather well.

@@michaelmay5453 What I mean is that well to do Americans boughtt a new luxury car more frequently whle Europeans bought more expensive cars. I also believe the American manufacturers changed their models more often, not like a completelu new design but slightly differen styling, different fins and stuff. But maybe that's just me geting confused with the many different looks of the same models.
Top Gear isn't a car show. It's a show that has some cars in it for comedic effect or to make you drool as they take on the latest and greatest. We all make fun of Americans and if you'd like us to stop you could try not making it so easy. :P
I went to Didcot when we were allowed to travel after the first lockdown and it was hard to go abroad but I wanted out of Scotland, it's a lovely wee town with fab transport museum and lovely friendly people.
The thing about Top Gear is, it is more about the friendship between Jeremy, Paul Hammond and James May in particular the practical jokes that they play on each other and cheat when they race each other to different locations around the world. Also the show always featured a special celebrity guest who would basically have a brief interview and would also have to race around a racing track in a crappy car and try to beat the times set by other celebrities on previous shows, there was even a proper Leader Board and stuff. It was such a cool show. Jeremy is the miserable guy, Hammond is kind of a clown and James is the conservative, reserved type.
The guests on the show compete in a 'star in a reasonably priced car' race and at one point they had on the SAME episode............Tom Cruise AND Cameron Diaz and Jeremy just went nuts!
Top Gear was great show, you would of loved the experiments, blowing stuff up and tasks. Problem is times and cars have moved on. Not to sure if would be a good show to watch back in 2022.

It's a bit better compilation than the last one , the show with this trio was massive , Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz did the lap ( as individuals ) on one show and lots of star names appeared over the years . The challenges and specials really were funny , spectacular and unmissable even if you don't like card .Seems the copyright people may have relaxed a bit when lockdown was on and now they are going back to being strict .
Those clips are either from Top Gear or The Grand Tour. Both series incredibly successful. Top gear lasted around 22 seasons before Clarkson got fired and the other two (May and Hammond) left with him in unison. They then created The Grand tour and that appeared on Amazon. You'll know the difference between Top gear and Grand tour from the studios. Dark studio (audience standing) is Top Gear and the Grant tour is a big tent with a huge window behind the presenters of a different location behind. Clarkson is one of a kind. He hates most things and is always moaning about something but on a whole, it's for entertainment purposes.
One thing that would have pleased Clarkson is that where it shows the clip of being able to turn right at a stop sign, the picture was reversed, so it looked as if Americans drive on the left , which Clarkson would say is the proper side of the road :)

When you talk about cars, ie. The Cadillac Escalade.... it's what both Ford and GM do, Badge Engineer.... take a utilitarian (working-class) GMC Yukon, the middle of the road Chevrolet Tahoe (and Suburban) and then the Cadillac Escalade, under the skin they're the same SUV, the bling and fit out is all that differs - maybe the power options too.... the same with the Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator.
If you ever want to see the real Clarkson.. go watch Clarksons farm in your own time. Its incredible.. not many people on this earth could make farming interesting or funny.. but its honestly one of the best short series of the past 5 years

The license funded BBC are actually quite laid back when it comes to republishing their clips on youtube. I have many on my channel. The problem you see are with BBC Studios - the BBCs commercial arm. Also many programmes are made and owned by other companies (HIGNFY/Graham Norton/ etc.) and if you get a copyright claim on any of these, it will be from that company, not the BBC. and some are again stricter than others. Yes, BBC Studios is owned by the BBC, so, yes, you are right, and I'm not trying to correct you, just pointing out that it's a bit more complicated than it may appear! There are also issues with music licensing and potential actors repeat-fees. These may require the BBC to pay out if things are rebroadcast in ANY form. It's done in the Glasgow dialect so you'll be learning a new language. A few other Americans have reacted to it and have picked the dialect up pretty quickly. From a Kiwi perspective, the stereotypical Aussie is a bit like the stereotypical southern US folks. Like that uncle that you really only see at a Christmas BBQ, who gets drunk pretty early on, needs to be kept an eye on around the younger girls, and keeps telling racist jokes that no one else likes.
There was one person who was worse than George Bush at spelling, if you remember him, Vice President Dan Quayle, screwed up the spelling of potato in front of some schoolchildren and on camera as well.

The best thing about this little pokey motoring show is that F1 drivers took it really seriously. They had an F1 lap board and apparently it got very competitive amongst professional racing drivers 😂

The 'stars' come on to do a lap in a reasonably priced car and compete for the best score. They had a test driver/character called 'The Stig' who they would introduced with a new line every time, which became a running gag.

The Stig's identity was meant to be uknown to keep the intrigue eg he wore a helment and a white jacket so his identity was unknown. Then it got leaked that it was Perry McCarthy a former racing driver, so they had to get rid of him because it was pointless if they all knew who he is.
They did one in the US with 'the stig's american cousin' who was fat.
However my fav moment was during that post-stig period when they did the Middle East nativity special where they had to buy gifts in iraq (or was it syria? i forget) and drive them to Bethelehem for Baby Jesus. as the '3 wise men bearing gifts'.At the end when they introduced the 'baby Jesus', it was a baby stig.
oh and Clarkson brought a Nintendo DS for Baby Jesus.

Most British people love America. I remember being in Texas during American independence day and being asked was it uncomfortable for me (as a Briton I guess), I was so shocked by the question that I didn't immediately have an answer and that's because I've never heard anyone speak about America becoming independent from Britain with any regret which means we are on the side of the American people no?

It's a bit of a shame, there have been lots of great or at least great looking American cars. They tend to be unfit for Europe because of corners and size, but still have lots of fans and clubs all over Europe. Cadillac was a great luxury brand but the whole American car industry took the wrong turn decades ago.
The Escalade was basically a 1950's engine on a 1920's ladder chassis. Americ doesn't need to make efficient well cornering compact cars to do better than that.
There have certainly been some really good looking American cars but the build quality has always been atrocious. I REALLY love the look of the 50's 'vette but it was still a shit car.
@@michaelmay5453 Yes, but that was a cheap sports car, certainly by European standards. Currency and tax has been in the way for good comparison for long, but European high end was much more high end, while Americans replaced their cars with a newer more fashionable model more often. And they do last relatively well for low build quality.
There also have been lots more great looking American cars, also in the not too fancy models. Lots of really creatively and neat styled cars that did luxury rather well.

I also believe the American manufacturers changed their models more often, not like a completelu new design but slightly differen styling, different fins and stuff. But maybe that's just me geting confused with the many different looks of the same models.

I went to Didcot when we were allowed to travel after the first lockdown and it was hard to go abroad but I wanted out of Scotland, it's a lovely wee town with fab transport museum and lovely friendly people.
The thing about Top Gear is, it is more about the friendship between Jeremy, Paul Hammond and James May in particular the practical jokes that they play on each other and cheat when they race each other to different locations around the world. Also the show always featured a special celebrity guest who would basically have a brief interview and would also have to race around a racing track in a crappy car and try to beat the times set by other celebrities on previous shows, there was even a proper Leader Board and stuff. It was such a cool show. Jeremy is the miserable guy, Hammond is kind of a clown and James is the conservative, reserved type.

Top Gear was great show, you would of loved the experiments, blowing stuff up and tasks. Problem is times and cars have moved on. Not to sure if would be a good show to watch back in 2022.

That is a classic bit and when harry went back on top gear for the second time, they played the whole bit! Apparently clarkson’s son found it before Jeremy did!
It's a bit better compilation than the last one , the show with this trio was massive , Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz did the lap ( as individuals ) on one show and lots of star names appeared over the years . The challenges and specials really were funny , spectacular and unmissable even if you don't like card .Seems the copyright people may have relaxed a bit when lockdown was on and now they are going back to being strict .
Those clips are either from Top Gear or The Grand Tour. Both series incredibly successful. Top gear lasted around 22 seasons before Clarkson got fired and the other two (May and Hammond) left with him in unison. They then created The Grand tour and that appeared on Amazon. You'll know the difference between Top gear and Grand tour from the studios. Dark studio (audience standing) is Top Gear and the Grant tour is a big tent with a huge window behind the presenters of a different location behind.
Clarkson is one of a kind. He hates most things and is always moaning about something but on a whole, it's for entertainment purposes.

One thing that would have pleased Clarkson is that where it shows the clip of being able to turn right at a stop sign, the picture was reversed, so it looked as if Americans drive on the left , which Clarkson would say is the proper side of the road :)

When you talk about cars, ie. The Cadillac Escalade.... it's what both Ford and GM do, Badge Engineer.... take a utilitarian (working-class) GMC Yukon, the middle of the road Chevrolet Tahoe (and Suburban) and then the Cadillac Escalade, under the skin they're the same SUV, the bling and fit out is all that differs - maybe the power options too.... the same with the Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator.

I don't think the BBC like any of their programmes going on UA-cam. Usually the celebs have come to do their lap in the 'Star in a reasonably priced car' section. Some were very competitive!!
The license funded BBC are actually quite laid back when it comes to republishing their clips on youtube. I have many on my channel.
The problem you see are with BBC Studios - the BBCs commercial arm. Also many programmes are made and owned by other companies (HIGNFY/Graham Norton/ etc.) and if you get a copyright claim on any of these, it will be from that company, not the BBC.

I'm not sure how to put forward requests so I'll just leave it here and hope you get it. Could you react to the Scottish sitcom Still Game please. It's done in the Glasgow dialect so you'll be learning a new language. A few other Americans have reacted to it and have picked the dialect up pretty quickly. It would involve slightly longer videos as each episode is 30 minutes but well worth it.
