Including, punching a producer, saying the N word in a deleted footage that the producer leaked, saying that NHS workers should be shot behind the chemical shed for demanding a pay rise, saying tesco HGV drivers were rapists, calling BBC big wigs paedophiles in league with Jimmy Saville in the paper he wrote for. Clarkson is incredibly based.
It turns out that the "not giving a f**k" came first, which led to them becoming one of the most successful television shows of all time. As many have already pointed out, Clarkson was the first to depart the show. His leaving was the result of several things coming together at a particular point in time: first, he found himself in multiple tabloid stories for his poor behavior, then he punched a producer for Top Gear...which also made its way into the tabloids. On top of all this, all 3 of their contracts with the BBC was about to expire, so the BBC decided it was a better decision to simply not pursue a contract renewal with Clarkson. ...though they DID want to keep both Hammond and May. In fact, both of Clarkson's co-hosts have publicly discussed how they were approached by the BBC to continue Top Gear, either as a two-host show or by having a new third host brought onboard. However, they both knew that it was the dynamic between the three of them which was the draw - the open dislike and pranks, with nobody knowing who'd be the next victim - so they both chose not to renew their contracts with the BBC. It didn't hurt that Amazon was willing to give them a (reportedly) 9-figure deal to make a show for Amazon Prime Video. Bear in mind, that's not pure profit for them; all costs for creating the show were to be paid from that figure, with the hosts being able to keep whatever was left over.

Who knows, it sounds plausible seeing how they made a new show afterwards.

There's a bit more to story than just that. Clarkson was still getting over the death of his father, but was being made to film by the BBC. After a day's filming, they got back to the hotel late and there was no hot food and Clarkson was annoyed. The infamous producer offered him a sandwich and he angrily lashed out because he didn't want a crappy sandwich
The reason JC - whilst driving a truck - kept interspersing his commentary with the words "murder a prostitute," was because the trio were filming an article on trucks and what it takes to drive one in their usual tongue in cheek, less than serious fashion. A few months previously there was a series of five murders of prostitutes in the town of Ipswich, Suffolk. They all happened (unusually) within a few days, an arrest was subsequently made and he was convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment - a term which these days in the UK seems to be about 12yrs??? The man they arrested was a truck driver, hence why Jeremy in his inimitable exaggerating fashion was running a commentary on the apparent high workload of a truck driver. It didn't go down well with truck drivers in general who felt he was tarring them all with the same brush as a convicted serial killer who happened to drive a truck.
Season 3 onwards of Amazon's Grand tour are fantastic, as they are doing various trips and challenges. Season 1 and 2 were very like top gear. They are constantly taking the Mickey out of each other, the American RV trip had me laughing until I couldn't see.
Really hope you can get away with doing the Grand Tour without copyright issues - would love to see that. It's just more Top Gear but with a bigger budget and they do most shows from different countries around the world. Shame they had to get rid of Jeremy on the BBC but hey, you can't physically assault a member of staff and keep your job :'D So glad they got to carry on on Amazon - love these boys. Thank you for the reactions Muppet King!

Top gear still exists with new presenters but about a quarter of the viewers. The three of them are irreplaceable
For a little context - this is the "New" Top Gear... the original ran from 1978 to 1997 (or something to that effect) - and was more like a magazine program, think 60 minutes or current affairs program about cars, road laws, etc.... Jeremy and James both were presenters on it, James was fired or let go, for some pedantic reason.... The whole Back in Black AC/DC sequence was from a crossover episode (or two?) they filmed with the Australian Version - Top Gear Australia... there was a challenge where a large car was placed under a small car, the large car had the "driving" controls and the small car had steering (of the large car, which it was attached to)... as it was Australians their small cars were placed upside down.... the same challenge was done with a crossover to the German version.... where the British arrived on location in three spitfires...
They left Top Gear because Clarkson got fired after getting in a physical alteraction with a producer, Hammond and May resigned out of solidarity with Clarkson.
@@barryburton1570 Wrong. Jeremy wanted to renew his contract. The BBC fired him by refusing to renew his contract. Then May and Hammond decided to go with Jeremy.
Taking shots at Ze Germans or the French is pretty much a national pastime in the UK. Funnily enough that's why we love German comedian Henning Wehn. He plays on that relationship and has a real sound grasp of British humour. Check him out some time. The slope on the bridge. Yes Clarkson knew exactly what he was doing. It's called a joke. He makes you think he is referring to the oriental gentleman before Hammond points out that indeed the other side of the bridge does have a distinct slope. Unfortunately some people are so easily offended they don't take a moment for analysis. Clarkson has always been outspoken and politically incorrect. It's why he is loved, and hated, so much.
Not only was " Top Gear " with these three at the helm, the greatest show ever, but when it got cancelled the whole world went to crap, " coincidence, i don't think so ."
Basically, the "slope" thing was the final nail in the coffin for BBC which basically cemented Jeremys kick from Top Gear. Him punching the producer only made it faster.
I don't know if it's ever been suggested but you might want to respond to Goldie Lookin' Chain. The best Welsh comedy rap group that are probably completely unknown in America. Hilarious Lyrics.
There were quite a few worse than that .You are quite right the dear o!d BBC had quite a few complaints , but also the top rated show in the World - well most of it - and things eventually came to a head after they had been filming in horrible weather and Clarkson was sacked after an altercation with the crew . Hammond and May finished the series and resigned and that was the end of the show as popular entertainment . The viewing figures even for the UK are pretty poor , they have tried several presenters but they can never reproduce what they had with these three. Their show on Amazon is called the Grand tour .
I still watch the full episodes to this day even though I’ve seen them all a million times before. Admittedly I normally skip the star in a reasonably priced car though
The sloping bridge was from the Burma Special. They had to drive across Burma in lorries (now called Myanmar) into Thailand to build a bridge over the river Kwai. The Vietnam Special has them be given 15 million Dong(currency in Vietnam) to buy vehicles to get from Saigon to Ha Long City in less than a week, I think maybe 10 days, I can't quite remember. A journey, they say, that took the Americans 10 years to do. Hahaha. It turns out that 15 million Vietnam Dong is not very much money at all. haha
I heard that JC was bored with the format of the show and wanted to change it, but the BBC refused. JC had a clause in his contract that would cost him if he left, so he did more and more outrageous things to get fired. Ultimately he punched a staff member. The show continued but wasn't as popular and has had several different presenters and has changed some of the format, but still has much lower viewing figures
The non renewal of Clarkson’s contract was exacerbated by him striking a producer in the face but before that he was on thin ice with the beeb after a few incidents including the number plate in the Argentina special.
Thanks bro! Yes, it was the greatest show ever and not only for "car guys" cause there is/was so much more. Yes, everything he says is very much on purpose! Do not even bother to watch Top Gear after these guys! I am proud to say they shoot a new episode here in Finland for the 5th season of Grand Tour. And they are making fun of everything and everybody always. But the US has a special place in Jeremys (cold) heart. And the Germans, French, Australia etc. 😁😁😂😂😍😍
Couple of feedbacks. They did get complaints from Mexico! The lorry driver one might not make much sense now, but there was a high profile murder case in the UK around 15-20 years ago where a lorry driver murdered several prostitutes. The show got hundreds of complaints from lorry drivers. The slope one was very very controversial. It’s not widely known or used as a derogatory term in the UK so most people, myself included, didn’t know what the fuss was about and could believe the excuse of them not knowing. I think they probably did know, they make too big a deal of the scene not to. The eenie meenie minie mo, one was also very controversial. It was all over the media with calls for him to be sacked. Not sure if you use it in the states but it’s a kind of nursery rhyme kids use to chose between something, the words are “catch a tigger by its toe” but apparently the rhyme is so old that it used to use the N word. Someone kind of unscrambled his voice and it sounded like he said the N word. You missed one of the best ones, they went to Argentina for a tour and Jeremy bought a car with the number plate H982FKL, in a clearly deliberate reference to the 1982 Falklands war, something Argentina are still very very touchy about. Again they claimed innocence and showed documents that proved that the car had always had that number plate and they hadn’t changed the reg for the show, and it was coincidence, no one believed them! They got chased out or Argentina.
The reason they left Top Gear had nothing to do with complaints etc as that was going on for many years, it was because Clarkson punched a producer and did not have his contract renewed so the other two followed him in solidarity. The thing about the offensive remarks, they were obviously done in jest and to create controversary rather than being malicious. Unremarkable singer, Will Young (one of those Pop Idol/X-Factor types) went on there once to do star in a reasonably priced car and Jeremy was very friendly with him and got on well, but James and Richard made jokes about the fact Will was gay and that Jeremy was in love with him. Will had no problem with this as he was still famous at the time and was just more promotion for whatever he was doing at the time (new album or tour, not sure which). Years later though, after his fame had dried up he started going to the press to say how homophobic they are and the Grand Tour is full of homophobic jokes. He was obviously trying to drum up some promotion again as nobody was buying his latest album or whatever. Abbie Eaton who is the Grand Tours version of the Stig defended them. She said, as a lesbian, do you think that I would be working with these guys if they were homophobic? So yeah, while Clarkson does have some less than PC views, pretty much everything they say about anything that is offensive, is just done in jest.
I think that was only a small sample of their offensive jokes - they were like that every episode - one of the reasons they became so popular. You should be able to find full episodes on BBC America - not sure if you would need to pay to see that.
top Gear reached its zenith with clarkson and cohorts , acted as a sort of travelogue too in a way ( burma , vietnam and ahem the states... it started a blueprint ( 3, 40 something blokes acting daft) was absolutely unmissable though
Do check out the Grand Tour, even if you can't stream it. The first few minutes of S1E1 is quite touching. Mates sticking together and it makes you feel a bit warm inside.
Lots of great Top Gear specials: Middle East, Burma, Vietnam, India, Polar, Bolivia, Botswana, Africa (Source of the Nle), Patagonia (Argentina), Winter Olympics and USA special.
That slope part was actually removed from the BBC iplayer version. Everything they say is on purpose. It wasn't just one of the most successful shows in the world. It was actually THE most watched show on the planet.
Check out where James & Jeremy made their own adverts for the VW Passat. They made some together first, which they got the actual PR firm VW uses to judge, but then went and made their own individual ones as the VW execs kept rejecting theirs and got the studio audience to vote who's was best!!!!
They left the show after Clarkson punched a producer. The BBC is publicly funded via license fee so he had to go. Hammond and May left in support. Top Gear went through various incarnations afterwards with various presenters and hasn't quite been the same. Clarkson, May and Hammond signed big contracts with Amazon to have their own car show - Grand Tour.

Jeremy was drunk and hungry and one of the crew members got him a cold sandwich instead of hot food so Jeremy punched him. It was something silly like that. The details are loose but he did punch a crew member over an argument about food. Lot's of people including the press and some low rate news sites reported that he was sacked, fired, or kicked off. That's not true... The BBC decided to not renew Jeremy's contract which was just about to end anyway, I think there was only a couple of shows left to air anyway, which the BBC edited into 1 long one, IIRC... James and Hammond didn't apply for a new contract saying that they are a team. But you should look up some of the stuff of James and Hammond during that time. The press are all outside James' house and when he comes out he says to everyone that Jeremy is a knob. Hahaha. James also created a very funny YT Channel called "JM's unemployment tube". If you get a chance look it up and watch the first hand full of videos posted . He tries playing a musical recorder, making food, It's a very surreal cooking show. haha

Not ffired he didn't renew his contract neither did may or Hammond
@@barryburton1570 Wrong. Jeremy wanted to renew his contract. The BBC fired him by refusing to renew his contract. Then May and Hammond decided to go with Jeremy.
@@barryburton1570 wrong, he was fired for punching his producer, may and hammond joined him to show support
Damn! That French holiday joke really caught me of guard I spat my drink out!
MuppetMonday (maybe MuppetSunday) it is then!
Great stuff as always Mr King!
6:38 British comedy is extremely popular in Germany.
Your missus is a nutter mate 😁
Grand Tour is on Prime. You can watch that one
Hahaha. It turns out that 15 million Vietnam Dong is not very much money at all. haha
7:00 theres prob a version aired without the copyrighted music
You need to watch Top Gear Supermarket Sweep , 80’s Hot hatches in a shop 😅
Clarkson punched the director after he wouldn't allow them to have a break to eat after 12 hour's filming
Clarkson punched a producer and was sacked. The others left with him.
New Amazon show is called The Grand Tour " the scandi flick is a great ep " , There's also full old TG episodes on youtube you can check out.
When’s the inbetweeners coming?
I heard that JC was bored with the format of the show and wanted to change it, but the BBC refused. JC had a clause in his contract that would cost him if he left, so he did more and more outrageous things to get fired. Ultimately he punched a staff member. The show continued but wasn't as popular and has had several different presenters and has changed some of the format, but still has much lower viewing figures
I heard the producer didn’t give JC any break, food or drink which is why he punched them
@@Dando_1201 No. It was because by the time they were finished filming, the place they were staying at had stopped serving food
The non renewal of Clarkson’s contract was exacerbated by him striking a producer in the face but before that he was on thin ice with the beeb after a few incidents including the number plate in the Argentina special.
The situation was annoyed, galled, irked...or maybe you meant exacerbated?
@@pistonburner6448 I’ve been getting that one wrong for ages 😅
@@johnbarnes888 At least you don't resemble that remark!
Top gear used to be one of the best shows on telly.
Top gear Winter Olympics, doing the Eddie the eagle with a car 😂
4:50 I believe he was explaining to the cop how someone else had showed them the finger. He was recounting past events to the officer.
Didn't know will young had fame issues, also just wanted to say nice they was not pc as I can't stand how much people are like you must all be pc
That was from the Burma Truck special
I like the king boomer he has a good sense of humour
The Grand Tour. New episode was released last Friday, first one in a couple of years.
Race to the North Pole...
"In the world" is a reference to Clarkson and the way he speaks to camera often
Englishman here, never been to Australia, but in its defence, I own an Australian Kelpie... BEST DOG BREED IN THE WORLD!
The "Slope" part was the special when they built a bride in Mayanmar
They ‘left’ TopGear because Clarkson punched a BBC CEO (or something similar) in the mouth. 👏🏻🤣
The show on Amazing n is called The Grand Tour.
Classic Top Gear: Oh that's too far... that's funny.
Patiently waiting for your next inbetweeners episode.
You have to do the Top Gear, Reliant Robin Rocket episode!
Clarkson is a british tresure. infact all 3 are. And thankfully i belive the germans have a great sense of humor or at least they have by now ;-) Great video dude Peace out
You should do top gear supermarket sweep very funny
The Argentina special Top Gear is a one to watch
Videos to react:-
1. Sir Steve Timothy "There are no gays in Ireland, Kathleen"
2. "Scottish guy can't say Purple Burglar Alarm"
3. North Carolina "High-Tide Road Accent"
Edit: 4. "Aussiest Interview Ever"
He tries playing a musical recorder, making food, It's a very surreal cooking show. haha
The grand tour on Amazon is very good
They left Top Gear when Jeremy punched a producer for not cooking him a steak. Lol
You MUST start Patreon and watch the Top Gear specials. HILARIOUS
11:11 - "...like they (the Germans) did on their French holiday in 1939". The Germans didn't invade France until the 10th of May 1940...and France surrendered 6 weeks later!
I have every top gear episode and every top gear special on my HDD. I can always pop them up on GoogleDrive for you. You'll have to edit them down and choose which bits you show and react to avoid copyright.
I only have the free 15gig GoogleDrive. So I can only send 15gigs at a time. But you'll mainly just want to focus on the specials. They are the best ones. All the good stuff from the actual show, like the video you're watching, is in compilations already on YT.
Clarkson was fired from Top Gear for allegedly, punching a producer and Richard and James left in support.. then they started the Grand Tour for Amazon together.
Damn, you cut Back in Black! I can see why you had to but loved the head banging.
1970s love thy neighbour not pc A MUST for retro uk tv . start with The cooking pot episode and all episodes are on utube .Love you and the queen love from the UK☔☔

Dude, if you've got amazon prime, defo do the top gear guys on The Grand Tour! You'll love it!
There's 7 episodes for free 👍
@9:20 What is the word you're talking about? Aussie here and don't understand what you mean, I even asked a couple of others and they don't know either.
What do you two do for work?
Apology accepted.
Also, 2:20 ish - you need a pause. Most offensive clips... ... IN THE WORLD! 😜
ALSO! Lived in Australia for 6 years now, and with regular bug-spray, I've only ever seen 3 spiders in my house, and 10 total. Yes, there's some scary stuff here, but yeah, nah, it's not as bad as people think.
now that you've got a handle on who these three guys are I implore you to watch Stewart Lee, UK stand up, giving his take on the presenters of Top Gear..simply 'Stewart Lee-Top Gear' will get you there. A tiny bit of background..Richard Hammond has been in a couple of high-speed crashes..that's all you need to know KB :)
Dude, drinking while watching Top Gear is a bad idea 😂
Nice Teup impression
You want to watch the top gear episode, you want watch them paint there cars and drive through some hickville town, somewhere in the USA.
Yeah you gotta do the Vietnam special lol
The gran tour 👍🏴 new top gear
I feel when

that group of guys are so unique the new never is boring and doesn't really work and you should react to don rickles
Different subject. King Boomer.have you seen the full Dead Parrot yet wihich includes the Lumberjack song ?
These are surprisingly tame, or is it because I’m English we are just used to dry satire😂
It was taken off air because Jeremy punched a producer.
Now they do THE GRAND TOUR
Dude if you think Jeremy said “slope” without realising it was offensive then you haven’t watched enough Clarkson.
He was eventually fired after punching a producer in the face. That was the “straw” that broke the BBC camel’s back.
