- This is the first day of my complete US-6 road trip, in real time.
The states passed through are the following.
Massachusetts: 0:00:10 - 2:40:19
Rhode Island: 2:40:19 - 3:14:35
Connecticut: 3:14:35 - 5:57:53
New York: 5:57:53 - 8:11:35
Pennsylvania: 8:11:35 - 12:25:03
I love these videos, thanks for all the hard work!
6:51 - furthest North point along US 6 - N42° 04' 00.3" - Intersection with Snail Rd, Provincetown, MA
35:10 - furthest east point along US 6 - W69° 58' 06.4" - Intersection with Governor Prence Rd, Eastham, MA
Wow, thank you!
Ok! This is my speed, Uncle Coolie! Thank you! Now I can sleep peacefully!😊
That's what I've been waiting for. Thx a lot! This will give me some nights of fun. Take care!
Thank you!
@@unclecoolie this video is certainly one of the best you ever posted. Very interesting to see all the lovely villages and towns and not only the interstate. I visited Cape Cod and Massachusetts in 1995 for the first time and I really loved it. The New England States are simply beautiful. Thx again for bringing back good memories.
@@MikesVoyagesAndDrives I grew up in Orange County NY (so I've been familiar with US-6 all my life), but I only first visited Cape Cod about 4 years after you did in 1999.
What a wonderful highway! I enjoyed going through the less traveled parts of the US. I researched it and learned it is the longest continuous highway in the country. Thanks, Uncle Coolie! Waiting for the next leg of the trip!
That's true, since US-20 is no longer a designated highway in Yellowstone. Even when US-20 was, when US-6 reached Long Beach, CA, US-6 was far and away the longest highway in the US. I'm already exporting part 3 from Virb now, which will take over a day, then I will start editing it next week sometime.
Real time is the best time
I agree
Completely agree
Definetely.
Very nice long video, covering the eastern sections of US 6, the longest US highway. Loved it, I really enjoy watching such long videos while working. The weather was quite good until PA, with rain for the last part. Can't wait to see also the next sections, until the west coast. Thanks a lot for sharing, greetings from a road-tripper from Germany!
Thank you! I'm going to try to get the last parts upload in quick succession, because I want to get to work on the video of my drive back to the east coast from California.
gREAT! More virtual travel to do when I'm supposed to be working. Waiting for the other five segments. Thank you.
😊
Los videos de PCH California-Oregon-Washington excelentes muchas gracias no me canso de verlos
Thanks! Glad to hear that.
@@unclecoolie Thank you very much
Super, vielen Dank für dieses und die kommenden Videos!
My pleasure!
Muchas gracias por tus videos , para toda la gente que no puede visitar USA , podemos ver lo lindo de tu pais y sobre todo lo seguro y buenas carreteras que tienen, Un saludos desde Mexicali, BC Mexico Hermosos paisajes
Thank you! Greetings from Virginia!
@@unclecoolie Thank you very much
Two places I know well: Near the beginning you passed a motel in North Truro I would often go to when visiting Cape Cod. And at 9:55:20 my current neighborhood in Clarks Summit PA is up the hill to the left of the tall bridge (we are higher than the tall bridge).
Wonderful video for the start of a great journey 😎
Thanks!
Hi Chris wonderful video so far thank you very much, buddy
Glad you enjoyed it! 😊
Afternoon Chris, when can we expect the next part of the video to be uploaded? Just wondering
@@rileybarker7482 I will try to have it uploaded in about a week.
OK Chris thank you
Another beautiful video
I do enjoy the real time videos. Hopefully you can do US Route 20 the entire way in either direction. Great video.
Thank you! I was seriously considering US-20 just because it's the longest US-designated highway.
Amazing video ❤❤❤
Thank you!!
November.
Thank you! I will.
loved pensevania the best very pretty statte even with the rain
Thank you so much! 💙
My pleasure. I want to get all of parts uploaded within the next couple of months.
Excellent .merci de France
omg un autre français ici je croyais etre le seul
My pleasure!
Those 2 detours in the last hour😫 As if the day wasn't long enough already!
I wasn't expecting those, either. I knew about one near Dotsero, Colorado, because Google Maps would not let me form a clean US-6 route through there (road closure, similar to what happened in central California during my PCH drive). Fortunately, I was able to avoid getting lost each time.
1:50 - In Switzerland, we'd have a 50 MPH limit on this road (and no speedbumps). No houses, no nothing. It's a rural two-way road without any hazards or dangers. I don't understand how there can be a 25 MPH limit on such a wide easy road.
The low speed limit there, I think, is because there are a lot of bicyclists and beach walkers in that area.
I was just on that route yesterday in Colorado between golden a black hawk
😊
I enjoy the sped up videos quite a lot (actually wish they were a bit faster), but I have to ask...how do so many people have the time to sit through the drive in real time? that's what's most amazing to me
I like the real time videos, and I don't watch them all at once. I'll watch while exercising, while reading, while unwinding.
Thank you unclecloi 😊
Thank you! I will try to get part 2 uploaded this week.
Excellent road where you can see the life and culture of your country. Many thanks for the metric European system.👍👍
Thank you!
I have a suggestion for a trip you can do in February. You are going from Key West Florida to Barrow Alaska. I want to see the temperature difference.
Driving in northern Alaska in wintertime is just about as difficult as it gets. After I did the drive across the northern continental US in January 2022, I have no desire to drive in very cold areas in the wintertime again.
@@unclecoolie Do it during the summer semester then.🌎🙂
@@mats1268 maybe. Alaska is one of two states that I've never been to (Hawaii being the other), but I'd like to visit in 2025 if I can.
You haven't been to South Dakota and New Mexico either.
Am I correct in that statement?.
For your next 12 hour video, could you do Provincetown to the Sagamore Bridge on a summer Sunday?
My next video will be the Wellsboro to Hammond, IN that I'll upload in the next 1-2 weeks.
Can you do I 90, the full interstate east, next?
Very possible, at least to do a big part of it, next year.
thanks
My pleasure!
Nice video, again! What rules do you use to set op the camera position? And what’s the black towel doing on your dashboard in front of the passenger seat?
Thanks. I try to mount it as high on the windshield as I can, usually to the immediate right of the rearview mirror. The towel is to minimize the glare from the dashboard.
Excellent video, one question: What is the name of the application to put the map in the video following the route?
Thanks! I create the map overlay separately in Photoshop and remove the background so that it's transparent.
8:10:38 A bit of time travel 🕰
You noticed that, LOL. I had mistakenly taken that first right, which went around and over the road and back in the other direction, so I did that and turned around to be back on US-6 before I made the wrong turn. I made a handful or so of wrong turns throughout the whole trip across the county. When I upload the next video, you'll see that I made two wrong turns in Cleveland alone, and I editied it in the same manor as this wrong turn in Port Jervis, NY.
The detour at 7:51:35 ....your old school??
You've guessed correctly. I only went there for a few years, back in the late 1980s. I wanted to check my phone to make sure what the exact routing of US-6 was ahead. I knew the way until Milford, PA, from growing up in that part of New York, but beyond Milford, US-6 was unknown to me.
Awesome videos. But how do you keep your windows so bug free?
Thank you! I clean the windshield almost every time I stop.
Hey will you do a LA to Seattle or can you do a LA to Miami?
LA to Miami is more plausible, but it will be 2025 at the earliest. I would love to do AK and HI as those are the only two states that I've never been to.
we want the next parts pliiiiiiz
I'm uploading it now, so I hope that it will be ready tomorrow. I finished editing it a week ago, but it takes an insanely long time to export from Final Cut Pro, then import into iMovie (so that I can reduce the size to be under 256 GB), then export from iMovie, and then upload and process into YT. This next part if over 13 hours long.
@@unclecoolie 😄🤩
I didn’t know U.S 6 going west out of Providence is so wide
A busy area.
Good!
What equipment do you use?
Thanks! I used the Garmin Virb Ultra 30.
@@unclecoolie sorry, I mean how do you add those information, like gps, speed, on the screen.
@@davidlhgfreedom The camera records the GPS information, and the Virb software is used to put whatever information I want on the video. I create the graphic overlays, including the map overlay of the route line, separately. I memorize the temps displayed on the car's dashboard, and write down the temps when I make stops. The camera can record temperatures via a separate sensor, but it won't work inside the car as I want the outside temperatures (who cares what I set the AC for???)
@@davidlhgfreedom I also record the video on a 512GB micro SD card, and I have my MacBook with an external hard drive that I back up the video to each night. The micro SD card can hold 16 hours' worth of 4K30 video.
Great drive! Have you heard Hurricane Helene is approaching Florida and Georgia where the governors declared a state of emergency?
Thanks. Yes about the hurricane.
When is the rest of this video coming out?
I'm editing part 2 now. I should have it uploaded and posted in about a week.
could you use miles and not "kilometers." This is america afterall. Other than that, nice work you've done here. Can't wait for the next portion to be posted.
please think about europeans viewers like me and shut the fuck up
Thanks. I used miles on the overall US-6 video. If I could use both I would, but the Garmin doesn't allow that.
What speed are these, 1080p? I would prefer 4k, but on something this massive I can see why it wouldn't be possible.
There's a Setting selection, the button that looks like a gear. 4K is an option
This is available in 4K.
@@unclecoolie, OK. Thanks. I was looking at the early morning, low-light part, which isn't all that sharp.
@@michaelhall74 I also to compress this video to get under the 256 GB limit that YT has. The original video exported from Final Cut Pro was nearly 400 GB! With that, some quality gets sacrificed.
Hi Chris you OK?
Yes. I'm editing part 2 now.
OK
On behalf of all European fans: thank you for the metric system 😇
