Oh my stars. How my heart aches. When you went through Wickenburg and I saw how the city has changed I shed a silent tear. All the beauty that is Wickenburg is gone. My mama used to take us kids there when we were younger and we would walk through the shops and learn the story of Wickenburg. I understand the need for progress but pardon me if I don't care for it when it destroys some place so wonderful. The desert is gorgeous and I miss it terribly. Thank you for the ride friend :D Oh the stories i could tell you about downtown Phoenix. Thank you once again for the memories. :D
@@xray606 I could onlly see what Adventures showed but I am sure a lot of the museum sites have either been moved or are not anymore. Wickenburg is so beautiful :D

I live in Hawaii, (driving around an island is easy) but I did this exact drive from So. Cal, Vegas, Az. I had to prove to myself I could do a long haul drive...I was exhausted but amazed....
Did this drive back in December except went further south from Phoenix. After a few days continued even further south! Anyone wanting to do this drive, pro tip: fill up in LV, dont pump gas at the stations in the desert. The cost per gallon is 50% higher.
I've been to Las Vegas so many times I've lost count. The trek through Henderson and Boulder Dam was the thing back in the day. For a Phoenician, it’s 6 ½ hours driving; 13 all together is a lot of driving but I like the Desert Beauty. Laughlin has mostly taken my money in recent decades, as I get a similar effect as Vegas but without the gouging and hustle.
Thank you so much for this wonderful video. I'm looking forward to finally coming back to Las Vegas from Germany in two months and then driving this route to Scottsdale

It's difficult to tell when The Desert changes, from Mojave to Sonora, but my indicator was the change from Joshua Trees to Saguaros, which started about 7 miles outside of Wickieup. Then there was this mixture of JT's and S's, that went on for some miles more. Around Palm Springs, Saguaros are commonly used as landscape/garden ornamentals, so, those could be highly confusing to folks not educated to the finer points of desert life.
That's definitely right. There are areas that have Joshua Trees with Saguaros right next to them as the Mojave transitions to the Sonoran, it's very cool to see.
I GENERALLY, would NOT recommend it, but with the addition of a very FULL moon, one could be tempted to douse their headlights! As a skier, I'd be tempted to try a resort that already offers night skiing, where they likewise might be tempted to douse their slope lights, during full moons, under CLOUDLESS night skies. The snow ought then, to throw off plenty of glow to guide you down the hill.
Fun fact: The Las Vegas Strip has around 30 hotels and casinos lining its path, and their enormous signage and neon lights make them the brightest spot on the planet.
I agree but they’re two different deserts / ecosystems California, Nevada & NW Arizona are the Mohave (Joshua trees) Arizona small part of Cali, Baja California & Sonora, Mexico are the is the Sonoran desert (Saguaro Cacti) I believe New Mexico, West Texas, Chihuahua, Durango & Coahuila Mexico are the Chihuahuan desert
All drivers on the freeway have good manners.I'm familiar with Arizona because it was featured in the TV series "The X-Files." I've also been to the Grand Canyon. It was a beautiful sight.
Early to mid spring is when you would get that. This was late summer early fall. It got really hot this year and very little rain. Desert insects are long done at this time of year. As there hasn’t been anything alive to nourish them for weeks.
According to Google, there is a real life Desert Bus which goes from Tucson (through Phoenix) to Las Vegas, which takes 8 hours 15 minutes. Yes, your guess is right. Not like the video game, the landscape is really awesome!
Too much resemblance of Vegas Free ways with our South Africa freeways the N1 specifically. Straight, smooth and wide. Overall Vegas is squeaky clean, not too much vegeation around but lots of concrete which is understandable under those conditions.

Never understood why americans arent using crash fences between opposite lanes. They are standard all over the world and work well in case of crashes. And easy to replace.
Highways, roads such as these are certainly NOT for everyone. I'm quite excited, every time I traverse the 60-odd mile section of I-80 that goes almost like a rifle shot into Wendover, from the East, across the DAZZLING white flats of The Great Salt Desert. Perhaps, you, might go "salt blind", from those??
@@jasonplatt2228 Actually, it makes no difference which direction that it's traversed. It sure would be interesting during a full moon. Those horizons seem to stand still, they're so DISTANT at the beginnings.

Wow so few cars, so less traffic and the cars are so relaxed. In Germany is much more traffic. It must be a pleasure to drive this way.
The SW United States and Western states in particular can have 100’s of kms between any significant population centers.
Amazing driving ❤️❤️
Thank you 🤗

You can do the return trip by night, the view of the night sky in the desert is incredible. No light pollution so its a ceiling of stars ...

I always like those highway sections where they used the red granite. There’s a number of those up around Trona.
Zion and Grand Canyon features "pink" asphalt, too, maybe a whole slew of selected Arizona's & Utah's highways.

I think Arizona’s desert is more colorful and picturesque than Southern California’s🤔🤔🤔🤔
I agree but they’re two different deserts / ecosystems

Depends on where you are in SoCal.
The desert in Southern California is 99 percent sand has no grass growing
Its very drier in SoCals deserts, we hardly get any monsoon rains
