So I was hunting for what microphone I should use for an "in the field" interview and of COURSE I happened upon one from you, Sean! Every time I have a questions about my show, there you are with the answer. Thank you for the plethora of valuable content!!!
100k!!! Congratulations! You earned it. Crazy growth.
I purchased the Rode recorder mic and cable as you recommended in this video, along with the M6 Mk ii you recommended in a different video - the hiss is savage. I've tried reducing the volume on the camera settings but then it's too quiet. What am I doing wrong and why is the hiss hugely present at all volume settings?
You might be the most helpful human on UA-cam. I’m updating all my sound equipment and this video (and a few other tech vids of yours) saved me hours and hours of research. Just bought the reporter mic/sennheiser kit which was exactly what I wanted, but didn’t know how to go about finding it. THANK YOU
Thank you for this Think Media! I was looking for this and wondering it for years!
Almost 100k subs man, well deserved, great helpful channel!
Road to Pro ua-cam.com/video/XxW4D_-CQZY/v-deo.html

Jesus, dawg, thank you bro! I’ve been looking for videos about interview microphones and couldn’t find any!!
I cant believe youtube hasn't recommended this channel sooner i love it!!!!!!!!!!!
Try this too
sir I must say, you are helping me and inspiring me to start my own channel, even though I might be starting with my phone, but with your tips and tricks I feel less stressed and not as doubtful. I thank you, your my favorite when it comes to tech reviews and information
Its really hard to find reviews on handheld wireless mics.. thanks bro!
Bro you’re always the first person that pops up when I’m looking for something I love your channel
So close to 100,000! congrats! You've helped me SOOO much w my new channel and I'm growing everyday. I have a very specific niche audience but thanks to you I believe I'm adding great production value also (which is not common in my section of channels). Can't wait for the 100,000 subs video.
I just checked your channel through this video, and just a minute ago you uploaded a video about your gear getting stolen :( Hang in there buddy ! Maybe crowdfund for some basics ?
Little nervous about the hiss on the RODE mic. I just purchased the mic, how do I reduce the hiss?
hi All - One more question. Any recommendations for a wired handheld interview mic that will go straight into a smartphone?
Sean, thanks for all of the great advice and tips. Starting my own UA-cam channel. Every step of the way I always check your channel first. Keep up the good work, your the best and most professional.
Jan
You're so awesome! Love this channel! 🙌🏽
That first mic, can u use some kind of adapter and turn it into a Lightning plug? I wanna buy it for a friend that uses a iPhone for live streams.
Might as well congratulate you on reaching 100k subs Sean, as you are at like 99k now. It's been great to watch your channel grow. I think you were around the 15-20k when I subbed.
Hi Sean I have a question can you do a tutorial how to attach the mic how it works which DSLR I'm using Canon 200D
Thanks for the video Sean! You're best ___ videos have been great for me in learning to use my camera. Also appreciate you and Benji on your other channel.
You are the man!!! Needed this video today.
Yes! thank you for this video. That handy recorder is well needed!!
Danm, Ive looking for a videos like this for a couple of weeks now, All mic videos talk about the mic itself but do no make test or even put an example, and most important thing, how the mic goes connected to te camera (wire or wireless, or mic device recorded) best video ever lml definitely I will subscribe
Thanks so much for this video Sean. I have the Zoom H1 (I used it with a Sony lavalier for my movie reviews) but was curious how it would be for interviews. I have one at a horror convention in December. Now I know so thank you so much! Quick question...what input level setting do you use on the Zoom H1 for interviews?
Drumdums i need this informations alo
*also
Was a good review but should have monitored the audio on the H1 before doing that interview, was a little over cranked, also be aware if you run your fingers over the plastic on the H1 it will pick it up, great mike but would avoid holding the body when recording if possible, speaking from experience.
great information bro! Thanks!
Which microphones is best for live group musicians(drums, singer, guitar, etc)????
High to low range
Awesome video again, thank you!
Thank you for the informative video, but I have a question about using the Rode Reporter with the Sescon cable: What audio settings do you use on your camera? I purchased the mic and the cable based on your recommendation, but I can't get the mic to sound right on my Canon Rebel t4i.
Thank you this video was very helpful !
Great information, great reviews!
I use zoom h5, do you recommend and external xlr mic to use ,just for doing medical videos
Hi Sean & Everyone! Sean, in addition to the Zoom H1, what other wireless handheld mics would you recommend for $250 or less? Also, I have lapel mics, and use the iRig Mic HD corded handheld mic. Pros on that is it's a great mic, with volume control right on the mic, cable is micro usb to lightning cable which goes records right into my iphone. The con is that the cord is only 5 ft., and needs to be longer. Thanks in advance! David
Thanks for this.. I have been looking for a good wireless mic. Lately thought I used the Zoom h1 as a mic at a live event and it was a great solution for cutting out the background noise. Thanks for the tips.. Have you used the Rode Filmmakers kit? If so what are your thoughts on it vs the Seinheisser?
Hello Sean! I love your videos. Can you do a review of Lumix GH4? I am struggling to choose between Canon 70D and Lumix GH4. Which one can you advise? Thank you so much!
hello great video
I am intending to shoot a series of home recipes from our kitchen. I have my cell phone for video, but would a clip on microphone is good choice for the chef?
What is an affordable good video editing software that would allow me to cut the audio of the video and Sync another from a external source?
I currently own Shure 58 Dynamic
I m also considering the Zoom H5 for my music recording at home.
Hi, Sean. Is there a good handheld mic that can plug into an adroid phone or android tablet that is affordable? Sorry if you already made that vid and I missed it but haven't seen one as of yet.
can i use regular handheld mics with cables to record videos on my smartphone?
thanks for this..5 years later the Re 50E senheiser still looks expensive...what are current options?any one?
Great video thanks for the info.
Sean - can you suggest a handheld microphone for outdoor on-street interviews? also would it need a mixer/preamp to connect to a dslr?
Could you have a video of the best mics for podcasts? Thanks 🙏
Is the RODE Reporter mic and cable a good handheld mic for use with a GoPro Hero 7 Black?
Hi sir what kind of microphone using in public that can be compatible in mobile phone vivo
a great live ongoing event would be a critique setting where peeps can get together and critique each others work. the great thing about a real school is one learns from the cohort not just the teacher. live chat is perfect for encouraging engagement and give peeps individual help. it is also rewarding showing work together.
thank you for this video!!! you're the real mvp
I most often use the Zoom h1. Allthough you have to get the Wind cover for it (included in the accessories kit) otherwise you might experience swosh noises if the interviewer moves the recorder too rapidly..
I am considering upgrading the setup further with a Røde Reporter or similar and then using a xlr to 3.5 mm adapter cable to connect it to the H1
Thanks your videos help me so much
Hey Sean!
Is it possible to do a how to: monitor set up video and talk about monitors in general. I'm trying to start a beauty channel but I'm only using my phone for now, is it possible to set up an iPhone to a monitor?

Test from OUTSIDE Outdoor? sorry i forgot that Interviews are sometimes outside...thanks
What do you recommend for a 2 in one system? I need something for public speaking where I will wear the bodypack with earset mic and a handheld to field questions. The problem is sometimes the venue only has one mic input. I hear the Saramonic UwMic9 solves this problem. Have you used that system and what is your opinion? I would prefer Sennheiser or Shure but don't find a 2 in one I can use for run and gun. Thanks.
Would love to see you guys do an update on these. I just finished testing and reviewing the Comica interview mic for smartphones and for the price the sound is pretty damn good.
Try this also
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THISS!!!
Amazing video. Beyond compare man. Thnks a lot!!!

is there a way I can use two Kimafun handheld mics plugged into the same phone?
What was that filter you had on the H1? Is it needed and if so where can you get it?
Hey Sean! Your so close to 100K!!!!! You've blown up recently and is so happy for u!!!! Here's to another 100k!

Hi there,
Just looking for a mic for a hobby UA-cam channel. My friend and I do reviews, interviews, etc...I am planning on maybe podcasting during my time in a physical therapy program and need something with clear audio that will not cause noise when transferring hands as well as not pick up background noise...thoughts?
Do you need two receivers for two mics or does one receiver record 2 mics?
Awesome video!
Hi I'm trying to buy the second option, I have a canon t21 rebel...do you think it will work.
Does the cable option work for plugin the mic to a iphone? (Rode Reporter + SES-TR-150 Cable + iPhone) ??
The music in the back round on the 3rd mic was that put in or was that being picked up in the back round?
Great channel! You got a new sub.
I have a question, if the community can help me. I'm starting a new journalistic project now and will be using the smaller Zoom audio recorder for outdoors reporting and interviewing. But I was wondering, what hand held unidirectional microphone could I use with it? Jack the mic onto the recorder and put the recorder in my pocket, for example? Is there a brand/model you recommend?
Is it possible to have multiple of thes Zoom H1 mics connected to one another/ the same camera, action camera, or smartphone?
Hello Sean-Diddy, informative even years later. Over the past 4 years there have been half-a-dozen XLR transmitters (Rode, Senn, Deity, etc...) I'm sure we'd love to hear your take on the sound quality and/or features (like the Deity record to card & transmit at the same time). I'm sure you're at no loss for content to create but please add that one to the list for 2022. ;) Thx for all the amazing content!
I’d be curious to see what recommendations you have for an iPhone or Android setup.
Can u show us a hack to use the rode wireless go as a handheld mic for interviews?
Can you do a sole review on the zoom h1 and its accessories, if its possible can you show us some other different configs while using the mic thank you
Just subscribed. What you guys would recomend for a setup with handheld mic?
I mean camera + mic ( would be nice if i would not have to spent all my money xP )
I want to get nice sync ofc . So i need an advice . Thanks for help
Love my Zoom H1N. Glad to know it's "legitimate" to use it for ENG stuff and not just capturing effects. I use it as an on camera mic more than anything else!
Hey thanks, the video was great and helpfull
do all these option work with a smartphone?
hi Sean, do you have a more recent video on the topic? especially street interviews, I have a couple of ideas for media projects + vlogs.

Can all these be used for iPhone video recording instead of dslr
Do you have any suggestion for classical music videos ? especially for microphones ? I have a zoom q3hd but the sound quality , especially for the violin , is not very good .
would it look weird to use a handheld usb mic for regular vids or put it in a close proximity off camera to get better quality?
thanks
Is the 80d or 70d worth it? I cant decide! I want to do reviews, social experiments, and blogs... so basically I want a good DSLR for general, multipurpose use
Anyone have any dynamic handheld mics for the sonya6300? Do I need a converter cable or any extras?
Does 2nd Mic with xlr cable will work with smart Phone???
What ia a reasonably priced mic for use directly into an android smartphone?
