I fill my moss pole over my potting mix container. Like... in it. Makes it easier and cleaner. I just put the container on my potting mat too and fill it up.

I saw a video recently that suggested putting the base of a moss pole into a small pot which is then put into the main pot, the idea being that you could water the pole without over watering the whole plant, not sure if that would also help filling them be less messy (if the whole length was moss I guess)

Loved the update at the end! Why is it beneficial to put soil in the moss pole? I have a few moss poles and am wondering if I should put some in them.
