Grateful to be born in the land of jangly guitars and Tom Petty tunes.
Fantastic. Bring on the Petty! And thanks for being so approachable in your lessons. Clear. Understandable without the UA-cam “look at me” nonsense that’s on so many channels
Man! What a great breakdown (no pun intended, of course) of a fantastic Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers tune. This lesson was so well executed. Few on YT have the skill to teach these tutorials like you. Thanks much. Just liked and subscribed, because I know I can learn a whole lot more from you. Cheers.
Welcome!
Thank you. Your tutorial was very helpful.
You are really good thanks very much from Ireland
Yeah I love their live, ending jam! Really studied that a few years ago and taught my band.
12 FC is a go-to place for lessons!
Thanks!!! Tom and the heartbreakers are my favorite. Looking forward to seeing more of your great lessons.
Yes, that was fantastic but now my wrist hurts from playing that solo part, the right way finally thank you. I think I got better at alternate picking with my finger to. I always played that with a pick and you pushed me a bit today to work on that. And now I'm going to have to learn that ending that I never learned. Thank you again. I recently watched one of your other videos for the first time, very good player and teacher.
That was super cool! Lots of great stuff happening there. I do agree, Mike Campbell is an awesome guitar player. So melodic.
Another brilliant TFC lesson and demo! 🌌🌅🌠👌🏻🕊. Thank you!
One of my favorite songs. Great job. In a side note, I read on a tab site that the verse uses the E7 chords (vs Em) and it sounds good to me.
Finally a teacher for the Petty heads. Yes. More more and more please
Bring it on. Great to watch. There are some fantastic ideas in there. 🎉 A Superbowl legend.
Great stuff - he never played the tricky picking ascending lick anywhere near this fast live or on the album & Mike himself frequently murdered that section in the heat of the moment onstage!
Loved it. Great mike Campbell video known which one your talking about
Yes, Thank You! And more Tom Petty, please. Mike Campbell is my favorite.
Brilliant, thanks!😊
Thank you for another great lesson 12 Ft, love The Heartbreakers ♪♫♪♫♪
Absolutely fabulous... Sounds fantastic and thank you very much I'm going to rough it all the way through till I get it !!!
You almost always pick songs on my List To Learn, THANKS!!! 😊
Outstanding.
Gave you an upvote for this one. Very good lesson on a complicated solo. Many thanks!🤘
Thank you.......Tom Petty & the 💔 are my fav. Looking forward to the next few months of lessons...!!! (great channel)❤🩹guitar🎸🎩
Great song, great tutorial, great chanel! Totally agree on the Tom Petty front! Thanks a lot for the great content, instant sub!
Yep, you nailed all the parts! Finally, someone who plays it correctly. Ty!
Great news about more Tom Petty content. Don't Fade On Me would be my request as there is not a lesson available anywhere that I am aware of. I really enjoy your style and look forward to learning more songs. Thanks for all you do.
Agreed and help learning don’t fade on me would be much appreciated. Thanks
Amazing stuff man. Love your content. If you mary janes last dance that would be amazing. Or refugee. Two my favorite petty tunes.
Someone was watching MIke's recent overview ;)
Great lesson!! At 17:10 - I've heard Mike make this mistake in concert before. It is really a Lydian implementation with the C#. Easy mistake to make. This section is the hardest for me, haven't gotten it yet.
Crazy...my cover band have this pencilled in for next rehearsal, ha ha.
Great lesson. Looking forward to Here Comes My Girl!! (What happen to the HD video?) 🤣🙃
I think it's just taking time to process. Don't know
Would love to hear the old blonde bassman on these great lessons !
Mike teaches this song too
So I'm going to be forced to learn tom petty for the next month or so.. Count me in...
The breakdown at time 6:00 is actually G A D7.
yep I think you are right
Curious? Doesn't the 3rd Repeat Fast Lead LICK, go into or towards Minor Sounding? Even though the Chords are All MAJOR??
Yeah, not sure how to explain or think about it, other that if you think about a D major scale, the note Db is the major 7th note of the scale. The 3rd riff shifts to include that Db note instead of the C. I think maybe that keeps it more sounding like major in the context of a D scale on that one. It's a G chord that part solos over and you're right if you just play Mike's way over the G it's a little odd. But maybe because it's going by at 100mph and that everything is key of D major is why that works. Didn't go to music school but that is what comes to mind when I think about it.
@@12footchain To me it Creates just a Hint of Tension that Needs to be Resolved and the Last Lick does just that, to me Soundwise. I don't understand that much about theory, but I kind of Hear-Feel it. Thanks, though, and I have several Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers I want to do, including their Cover The Yardbirds HEART FULL OF SOUL.
