The last battle in Platinum is in the Distortion World
Yes...
I really like how sinister Cyrus's battle theme is. Additionally, it's fitting how Platinum more clearly explains his motives to create a world without spirit. The Distortion World is also more fitting for the final battle since Cyrus stays there, still vowing to achieve his goal.
Compared to platinum, battling Cyrus for the last time was so cool in the distortion world. Also he accomplished his goal. Since he's trapped in that world he's finally in a world without spirit.
His goal was to destroy this world and create a new one without spirit. His goal was half accomplished, a new world wasn’t made, but he is in a world without spirit.

The finale with Cyrus in Platinum is so much better, his final battle in DP was very anti-climactic.
@@Elgary.1991 They weren't even faithful, they took his weavile and gave it literally the worst moveset I have ever seen, not one ice-type move, it had aerial ace and metal claw...WTF.
You know what I think would make the final Cyrus battle in Platinum even better? If he were teamed up with Saturn, and you and Cynthia had to take them both down, similar to how you and Steven battle Maxie and Tabitha in Emerald.
@@mikegalbraith9999 Nah, definitely not. Cyrus was too much of a boss. He didn’t need the help of Saturn. It was time to focus on him, as he had more than just 3 pokemon. He had a total of 5. Being a very powerful force. He’s arguably one of if not the hardest fight as is in platinum.

That is because the golbat was “incomplete” that Cyrus made it understood him
I had one hell of a crazy experience with Metronome at one point. I don't know how, but Metronome allowed my Togepi to use Fissure, which hit, and instantly killed the opposing Machop. I was in shock, and therefore grew fearful of every Togekiss I fought then on.
I am still surprised that whenever people talk about difficult battles, they always pitch forward Cynthia, Mother Beast Lusamine, Whitney, Red, Ghetsis and so on...
But not many talk about Distortion World Cyrus battle. Let me explain why it is difficult.
First things first, it's on top of Mount Coronet. A place where having a Pokémon who knows Rock Climb, Rock Smash, Strength and Waterfall are compulsory. Most of the HM moves are bad in a battle which is why even though Cyrus has only 5 Pokémon, technically, you also have only 5 Pokémon for this battle.
Then there's his team. Houndoom has Will-o-wisp which can weaken physical attackers and Dark Pulse for flinching. Sludge Bomb helps for other Pokémon like Infernape who resist both fire and dark type moves.
And that's actually the least threatening Pokémon in his team.
Then there's Gyarados. A Gyarados with Earthquake. Just to remind you, most main game bosses before Cyrus barely used a TM ( look at Maxie's Camerupt who doesn't even know Earthquake or any ground type move ). So his Gyarados with Earthquake was a surprise to remind us that evil team bosses can be terrifying too. With Waterfall, Earthquake, Ice Fang and Giga Impact, this Gyarados will have atleast one move to hit you for either super-effective damage or for neutral damage, just like Ghetsis' Hydreigon ( a slightly weaker version of his Hydreigon but same purpose ).
Next is Honchkrow. It knows Drill Peck, Night Slash, Psychic and ... HEAT WAVE? That's not even a TM move; THAT'S A TUTOR MOVE! Even Ghetsis doesn't teach his Pokémon tutor moves! This is another pokémon for all out attack, this time a mixed attacker.
Now his Ace Weavile. Super Fast, Hits Hard and even knows Ice Punch, an egg move. Granted, Ice Punch is also a tutor move so nothing can be said about how did he teach his Weavile that move.
Finally, his Crobat. This thing will basically whittle your remaining Pokémon to Oblivion with its atrocious movepool. Toxic, Cross Poison, Confuse Ray and Air Slash. For those who aren't able to understand what's bad, Confuse Ray can confuse you and Air Slash can flinch you. When that Crobat uses Air Slash on your confused teammate, there's a 50-50 chance that YOU WON'T MOVE! Combine this with Cross Poison, a move that has a high crit ratio, and Toxic, which needs no elaboration, and you have got a super annoying Pokémon to deal with.
What's even scarier is that the development team was lenient while designing his team's moveset. Imagine if Houndoom had Nasty Plot/Taunt, Honchkrow had Super Luck ability instead of Insomnia, Weavile knew other coverage moves like brick break/aerial ace or Swords Dance, Gyarados knew Dragon Dance and Crobat knew Hypnosis to annoy you further. Actually, I don't even want to imagine that.
Cyrus in platinum is the second hardest evil team boss of all time, he is seconded to only Ghetsis.

@@hoopaz3952 Because he isn't a psychopath nor a madman, his ego isn't sky high, he cares about his team, he "plays" with the player ("acting" the main "villain" in the "hero's story") and is overall nice, but still a bit twisted persona
ghetsis is by far the best villain.. he tried to kill a whole child

Gyarados then proceeds to defeat Garchomp like in the manga leaving Cynthia the loser of the battle.

3. Cyrus’ Pokémon: Houndoom, Honchkrow, Crobat, Gyarados and Weavile
I'ma be so furious if the DP remakes don't follow the Platinum Course of events, while keeping their box legendaries exclusive to the Post-Game. Platinum was a Masterpiece, damnit XD

On the third Cyrus boss fight, in my head I constantly yell, "USE ANY FUCKING HEALING ITEMS!!"

I remember specifically grinding up the whole team to lvl. 48 for the battle. The battle was pretty fun.
My team was (in order of it being sent out in battle):
- Empoleon
- Togekiss
- Weavile
- Flareon
- Gallade
I had a Staraptor but i left it behind to give a slot for a HM mule. One detail i remember is that it was easier than expected.

QOTD: Infernape, Roserade, Jolteon, Staraptor, Garchomp (Gabite, when I was fighting him in the Distortion World), Floatzel and Weavile.
So I've seen a lot of people talk about how it makes no sense for Cyrus to have a Crobat since its a friendship evolution, and I have a theory about it. I imagine that Crobat is a pokemon that Cyrus had when he was younger, but something happened to Cyrus to change his worldview and he kept Crobat because of how strong it was.
He had a golbat in Celestic town lmao

If I had my own Pokémon evil team I would have Pokémon from the ancient Pokémon world like Claydol and Bronzong for example, and the legendary Pokémon we would go after would be dialga, our goal would be to change the Pokémon world back to the ancient ways
My team would be: Lunatone or Solrock, Xatu, Claydol, Bronzong, Sigilyph, and Metagross, so if you have some Dark or Ghost type Pokémon on your team you should be able to beat me. Lunatone and Solrock are version exclusive in Pokémon sword and shield.
This man really used metronome and got an ice fang freeze
I still fear about this fight i remember his Gyarados swept three of my 6 Pokemon. At last i won somehow by luck with giving his Crobat being paralyzed for 4 consecutive turns.

He almost succeeded in creating a new world. the only one's who literally succeeded in their plans is team magma/aqua.
1st battle:ridiculously easy
2nd battle: still very easy
3rd and final battle: I GUESS I WILL DIE NOW
( my game actually froze while doing this battle once)
If I has a nickle for every person whose game froze during a battle in the Distortion World, I'd have two nickles, which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice.
His final battle was actually kinda hard ngl

Hey guys what if Gamefreak decided the Sinnoh remakes would be hard af so they gave Cyrus Moxie honchkrow and Gyarados or intimidate gyarados and moxie honchkrow and maybe give him a pokemon that can absorb the one typing that does destroy his team being electric cuz like he has 3 flying types from what I remember like maybe probopass since it's also knows volt switch to spice up and flash cannon for fairies besides crobat.
Before BDSP came out, I was praying that Cyrus won't be nerfed. I enjoyed that Cyrus' final battle in Distortion World was actually difficult.
So when it was announced that BDSP would be faithful to DP, I was praying that Cyrus would be in a post game being extremely difficult in Distortion World ( going too far I know) with a team something like this:

@@irondragondxd3836 That's basically Renegade Platinum Cyrus. Easily an iconic battle in itself. Why I thought Metagross (if available, like in a post-game where Cyrus is like a superboss in Distortion World) is a good pick was because I thought most bosses have atleast one pseudo so why not Cyrus. Metagross seemed like a good pick because it synergies well with the team and Cyrus' interest in Robotics and AI as mentioned in Platinum (you know ... about Metagross being like far superior version of AI)
