It could be the parking sensor module, but after the siren stopped it did beep and sounded like they were working. It could just be a faulty sensor. I had a Focus that one sensor failed on and it made a constant beep for a few seconds when reverse was selected and then it would appear to work normally. It was just a warning to let you know there may be a dead zone in the sensing. You can check the sensors pretty simply. Put he car in reverse and put your ear to each sensor in the bumper, if it is working you will hear a faint tick from it. I believe switch on the dash will just be to turn off the front ones so when you are cawing along in traffic on the m25 you can turn them off

Had the same plugs removed on fiesta I'm working on, the beep count after the "siren" is related to a specific fault code. (Number of beeps= the fault) I had 7 beeps
Always check a car out in dry weather , think someone has been messing with the parking sensors long be fore you had it , flashing light is usually a fault in the system what a stupid setup

I had exactly the same simptoms with my parking sensor and turned out it was the module! Just changed it and jajjjj it works perfectly! Hope it helps
