I am from Oklahoma and love me some OSU Pokes! Thank you for sharing that story- we need more like these. Also, OU women's softball coach, Patti Gasso, is a Christian and talks openly with her team about it and realizes the importance of using her position to impact her team in that area as well.
Adrienne, I taught and coached basketball and archery at my elementary school. I always prayed with my students before every game or archery match. One night one of my students asked if he could lead the prayer, after that they all started taking turns. At our last home basketball game before COVID I instructed my students to bring there families onto the court for prayer. Not only did my students and their families come onto the court, but everyone there. It was an amazing testimony to God.
I love this!!! God bless you! Only in a wacky world would this be deemed offensive--when people have a choice to participate or not. But the world is kind of wacky these days. LOL! I appreciate you letting your light shine!
Adrienne this brought me to tears..I've been watching you day one. I'm in Oklahoma Edmond. I can't wait to show my sister tomorrow. I keep pastor Craig from life church on a loop between basketball politics and just in prayer 🙏 for our country our players. I love you. Bless you 🎉🥰

My father-in-law coached women's basketball for high school and they were back-to-back championships and the girls to this day have high respect for him until he passed away but he had imparted different values for life.
It is always good to see people not ashamed of the Gospel Romans 1:16 16 "For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile."

Good on her. I went to OSU '73-77, if your weren't gay you got blackballed. I was asked to join the golf team..no scholarships. I couldn't afford it. 45 yrs later I became a 7 hndcp. My name is on two courses in Nashville as league champ. I can see Caitlin being a pro golfer. It's the mental game.
Hello, Adrienne. I don't believe in organized religion but I do believe in a creator of good and evil and this woman is good and I respect her as a human being. I hope Oklahoma rallies behind her and plays well.
I sometimes see watch sports stars mention God in their victory speeches and it doesn't always seem genuine to. It's seems more like they're trying to impress fans and media. I am trying not to judge someone's faith and should be grateful for any attention given to His name. But this was beautiful. Now maybe not everyone on the team is on the same wavelength, but it is a positive message that is not set out to harm anyone or belittle anyone.
I totally respect the coaches right to have faith in whatever she wants. It's also great that she is positively impacting the lives of these women. But what about any women in the team that are not christian or don't follow any god? How do they feel in these moments where she asks to pray? A moment that they don't have time to excuse themselves, should they not want to pray, a moment that may make them feel uncomfortable. I'm all for mentorship and helping people through their lives, but should it be done en masse, with the whole team? It's perfectly fine if the Coach KNOWS that the whole team are christians, but if they are not, I'm really not sure it should be done this way. If the girls want to go and speak to the Coach individually (or collectively) and pray or end up praying, then that would be fine. And what about encouraging all players of all faiths to join this team. If you knew that there were prayers being said that were not of your faith, would you want to join? And then, of course, you have to turn it around. What if the Coach had another faith? If she mentored the women as well as this Coach seems to do, but stood in front of the women and said "let's pray to the person I pray to" would that be welcomed by the team if there were team members of other faiths, or would the Coach be villified for it?
How will they feel? Did you see the applause in the locker room and the people in the pool? How do people feel when they discuss their sin, for example? We're not raising up snowflakes. We keep it moving.
My take on this video isn’t gonna be the same. I’m a Christian I believe the good lord is in all of us. I have cussed the good lord because of my life I have a hard life you see when I was 5 years old our family went to my dad’s work site he was a construction worker he was so good at it the people asked for him. I just got out of the hospital for getting my tonsils out my whole system was off well we went to Clinton, Iowa things were going ok until I got sick wasn’t feeling good my parents called my doctor he said it’s probably from the tonsils operation. I kept on getting sicker and sicker then I had seizures my mom call the doctor again the doctor told my parents to put me in ice cold water to get my fever down that was the last thing I remember I went into a coma the doctor told my parents to take me to mercy’s hospital in Cedar Rapids Iowa so they did but the nurses ( sisters ) and the doctors won’t doing anything to help me. So my mom bodily took me out of there and took me to Iowa City Iowa to the University of Iowa hospital they did a spinal tap come to find out I had viral encephalitis that I got from a mosquito I had a temperature of 107 I almost died from it it left me with a speech impediment and my right arm and hand are paralyzed I wish god would had taken me back in 1967 when this happened to me. Now I live alone I’m a very strong person not because I want to be I have to be. I had to fight for everything I got in my life fight to get my license fight to go to school fight to get my condo. I’m 62 now I’ve been this way for 51 years my mom lived with me until she died in 2014 she was everything to me now I’m alone yes I have siblings but I hardly talk to my older sister Lori I’m close to my younger Sister Lana and her kids I don’t have any kids I been in relationship before but now you know my story and this is why I cuss the good lord I say to him help me to open this bottle or can or anything I do that takes both arms and my speech I have a iPad to help me talk I forgot to tell you this the doctors said I would be a vegetable if I come out of my coma I proved them wrong again I had that fight in me. Why me I keep on asking the good lord that. I live with my 2 dachshunds they give me purpose or I wouldn’t be here. That’s my life I just can’t go up to a person and talk to her or him in our society we talk. That coach just isn’t my cup of tea. That’s why I’m not jealous of anyone because they couldn’t walk in my shoes. I don’t drink or do illegal drugs I cope as best as I can. 😊
I am so very sorry you have been though so much. My heart and prayers go out to you. I encourage you not to curse the Lord. There are things in this fallen world we don't understand, yet faith, of course, isn't situational. We worship God simply for Who He is. I won't lecture you. I appreciate you sharing your story, and I pray you will be able to open yourself to Him and for God to touch you in what has been a difficult journey, to say the least. I cannot pretend to understand or know how you feel, but I can pray for you, and I will. ❤
