I think it looks too bland, don't get me wrong it still looks pretty and I don't want hyper-realistic Animal Crossing. It looks like a up rez'd 3DS game, what with the simple textures, grass, items and animations. I just think it could look a lot better if they tried more variety and details.
I tried using my sister's ddr pad for brawl back in the day, but unfortunately, the arrows were gamecube d-pad, and so you could only neutral a/b and taunt.
"making it user-friendly for modern audiences" I had no problem with the review until this point. Personally, I'm not buying it, it's not my Pokémon game. But that passage made me realize why I personally dislike these games. I played Pokemon when I was 8 years old. I didn't have problems at all. Why do people nowadays need the removal of challenges? The automatic healing from status effect (because "bu-hu I don't like them")? Also, why do people complain about the Zubats? Honestly, It's supposed to be an adventure, not a vacation. When I was a kid I grew up nearby the woods. Going camping WASN'T comfortable, but it was exciting...LIKE an adventure. Bugs, fishing, cooking, sleeping out, all these had pros and cons that made it more memorable and I loved the early Pokemon games because of that. Too many Zubat? Get repels. They are available for this reason, manage your money. Battles are too difficult? Train, get better, adapt. If you didn't want an adventure, go play Sudoku on your phone. These new Pokèmon games cater to an audience of "lazy players". Also, having all the "challenges" placed comfortably at the end, not to "ruin-your-easy-journey" it's honestly insulting. Kids beat these games. I did. We all did without Nintendo holding our hands this much. The challenge made the journey more memorable. This is what pisses me off about these game and "modern" audiences.
I mean Reggie said it best last E3 with his comment about challange in video games - but I do find it funny how offended Pokemon fans are at the idea that people would like to play a game just for fun, nostalgia and relaxing (you know totally valid reasons to play video games). I think a lot of you need to get off your high horse, and wait for the more core Pokemon experience next year. This game isn't for you. Being an old man yelling at the clouds doesn't change that.
Alexander Chilton OK if people want to play video games to relax, then why do they have to ruin Pokemon?? What's stopping them from playing the hundreds of relaxing games? Why does Pokemon have to extremely dumbed down to cater to lazy people when there's already games this audience can play? this is barely a game. Hopefully gen 8 will be as good as a console pokemon deserves to be
@@alexanderchilton911 My point, as I stated in my comment, is not that I hate these games or the fact that they shouldn't exist. It's that these game has been "adapted to be easier for modern audiences" whilst the majority of people played Pokémon when kids. Now, is a game a Kid can beat with a moderate amount of challenge (Pokèmon are not hard...c'mon) too hard for modern audiences? I am not complaining about changes, I do believe the series needs to be updated. I simply believe that EVEN Pokémon Go player might want some sort of moderate challenge, the one enough for a kid to overcome, in their console games. A game can be relaxing, it doesn't have to be easy.
I was holding off at first, but after seeing more of this game and hearing how streamlined it is. I'll take the plunge. Like Smash Brothers, I have been a die hard Pokémon casual since Red/Blue. Losing abilities stings a bit, but I never committed to EV/IV training. I honestly don't understand EV/IV training, and because I have never played competitively... I don't miss those at all. Plus with my own personal life changing and just getting over a really rough couple of months, this game looks so chill and relaxing. Something that I look more for when it comes to video games nowadays. Thanks for the review! I'm going to pick up the Eevee version, myself. I like Pikachu, but I want a different starter this time around.
@Number 5 - Colostomy Bag you could get the digital version if you're dont mind digital. The file size is pretty small so it wont take much space. Assuming you can get a refund. Even if you have to wait an extra day, it'll suck but it'll be that much more exciting!
@Number 5 - Colostomy Bag completely agree. I prefer physical especially for 1st party. Indies like hollow knight and dead cells I have digitally but everything else physical
@@RhythmGrizz That I have to disagree with. The game yes, but not the movie. I really dislike the idea of the Lets go Games. However, I am really interested in the movie. Im just happy theyre trying something interesting and different. They may look weird but I've always imagined pokemon never looking the cutest in real life. But if it helps, the person that made those pokemon in real life fan art, helped design the ones in the movie.
Everyone on the internet: "Im not buying this garbage! How dare they ruin my nostalgia! This game is gonna flop and im gonna laugh!" *game ends up selling 15 million copies
TheAlibabatree Honestly, I was always just not interested in these games, but even I know Let's Go will sell super well. And if they do well enough Game Freak makes Let's Go Johto games, sure, go ahead. "Not for me" just means "not for the individual." Everyone should make their own decision regarding these games and play them if they want. They're gonna be successful, no sense being petty about it. Just go about your lives, people, nothing more to say here.
Yes, it's a very casual pokemon game mainly aimed at Go players, but still looks alright. If you don't like it just don't buy it. A mainline game is coming next year, don't see the point of people complaining a lot...
@@mypenisisunbelievablysmall5258Again a mainline game is coming just next year.... doubt it will affect the quality of the next game tbh, and budget is never a problem for nintendo/game freak
@@ATNtalk it's very lazy product. I don't wish to buy cause I don't want to incentivice game freak into making more product like these. It's used with existing assets and strips away plenty other content. Though the creator is finally leaving which I consider a good thing for the franchise. I mean don't get me worng most pokemon games are very say but they try using small changes. Thus completely regressive in my opinion. However I am really hyped about the new detective pichacu movie. Anything that promotes change moving forward rather than back if happily pay money for. Sorry for the rambling
Same. While it would be nice to revisit Kanto in its HD glory, I really don't care for the GO! mechanics, and it would have at least been nice to choose your play style, even if it meant segmenting players in multiplayer. Can't wait for next year's main installment.
I would have liked for them to keep a normal battle system for wild Pokémon. Then once you've weakened them use the "throw" mechanics. That's kind of how I throught this was going to be and I'm kinda bummed that they didn't do that
To be fair, he said only in the heavily populated areas - I doubt there will be walking Pokemons everywhere next gen since it is a more "core handheld experience" (Gamefreak's own words).
@@KOSTNOT Eh, isn't it more based Pokemon Go and Yellow? (sort of in the name). Don't know, I think the game is pretty, but hope for a more exciting art style in the 2019 game.
The silent majority is with you. In hindsight, this "lets go series" will be seen as a blight on the franchise. Pokemon Company is in the habit of screwing around with the past ( the new retcon movies)
Is catching really simplified? In real Poke games you just weaken the pokemon. Now you have to pick the right berry, pick the right ball, and throw the ball correctly. Seems more complex and frustrating.
@@RhythmGrizz There are also those who really hate random encounters. Give them some chance to dabble in the universe, keep calm and wait. Or enjoy all the same.
@@RhythmGrizz Pokemon is about catching pokemon. Ive been catching them that way for over 15 years. I can deal with ine game changing the formula a bit.
I don't. When I'm trying to get through Mt Moon, if I can do it without running into a Zubat every 2 steps, that's a major improvement to me. And no standing around, grinding, waiting for that 1-every-30-minutes Clefairy.
Magnes G you dont need to have random encounters to keep the “Battle, weaken, capture” mechanic Removing the battling aspect for wild pokemon is a completely ridiculous move by Nintendo especially with wonky motion controls
@@jowysw well pc has usually alot more resources available to it compared to a switch which essentially is just a tablet so yes pretty big difference in what each can do. Don't get me wrong I do like my switch for out and about gaming but thats what it's meant for is something mobile where my Tower or laptop not so much
I can understand peoples frustrations with the "Let's Go!" games being really dumbed down compared to the classic originals we grew up with (Blue version FTW). However, I can kind of get where Nintendo is coming from here. Pokémon Go opened up a whole new player base who may have literally zero experience with RPG games or elements thereof. So, in this sense having a game that will be mostly familiar to them (the mobile capture mechanic) will be reassuring to them while introducing the traditional battle system. I completely agree that there's way too much hand holding and catering to what could be perceived as "lazy" gamers in a lot of titles, however in this instance I can see why they did it. I plan on getting the Pikachu version towards the end of the month, because it does look fun and relaxing which is something I could do with at the moment. Fear not Pokémon vets, there's a full main line game in the works... we just have to wait a little while longer for it. Hopefully with all the usual RPG bits and bobs we love and hate... ... including a bazillion Zubats in Mount Moon...
Please share. There is no Random Online Battles in this game. You have to use a code and have your friend use the same code if you want to battle someone far away. HOWEVER if all of us use the same code pikachu pikachu pikachu. We can make this a way to have random battles with other trainers.
Catching hundreds of the same Pokemon to level up and train Pokemon while inferior ones or just extras are discarded in exchange for candies still goes against the very core of every other game and the series itself. Impossible to have a close bond with a Pokemon if you've caught innumerable amounts of them. And I think the companion Pokemon is meant to offset that but can you imagine if Ash threw every one of his Pokemon away Everytime he caught a new one of the same kind?
Its really disheartening to see all this hate for a game that Game Freak have tried so hard to make appealing to Pokemon fans and newcomers. It just seems that people find out about a new system, they hate, it gets an extra feature or new detail that makes it just as good or even better than it was before and then the fans hate it even more. Maybe after release when word gets out about how good the game really is, people will change their minds and maybe give it a shot.
I dislike this game because it's a joke. So much of the experience has been striped away and the price has increased. I've been a fan since HGSS and this game most certainly isn't aimed at me because I like to have a challenge when playing.
@@jeff3221, | can see where you're coming from, as a fan who also started with gen 4 (HGSS are my favourites) but I think that you aren't looking at it from the right angle. This game isn't supposed to be the next big mainline game even if it is sometimes labeled as such. This game is supposed to be a back to basics imagining, inspired by both the anime and Pokemon Go. To be honest I always found Kanto to be the worst region: its tiny, the only terrain is grasslands, caves and water with a single forest for good measure, terrible and broken balancing, any Pokemon with a high special stat was instantly god tier, the cities and locations (except for lavender town) had little to none personality, items and HMs where a massive pain to use and everything felt painfully slow (and this is coming from the guy who started with Diamond and Pearl). With Let's Go the balancing has been fixed, all the locations really pop and have memorability, the stats are fixed, POKEMON CAN FUCKING FOLLOW YOU AGAIN, encounters are mostly optional and depend on the wild pokemon's AI, catching Pokemon is now more immersive and meaningful than ever, you get an adorable little fluff ball that can really take a hit as a companion and Gym Leader rematches return. Whilst the removal of breeding ma be sad and make getting into competitive battling seem even harder to get into, with the new catch combo feature, after 31 consecutive catches (which will also get you many catching rewards), you are guaranteed a Pokemon of the that species with 6 flawless IVs and are 6 times more likely to encounter that Pokemon's shiny form. Just you tell that that isn't fantastic. Pokemon has never been challenging except for some post-game or extra content, something that has been carried through to Let's Go in the form of the master trainers. In addition to this, many Pokemon have been leveled up post Lt. Surge.
I think it's to be expected that the current hard fanbase wouldn't like this. It looks to be a nice game though. I'm still on the fence by the forced motion controls. And don't worry, there will be many many people playing this. Think of all the GO players that will get interested.
@@benjaminbrown2795 I could just play Soul Silver and experience a challenge, Pokemon walking behind me, etc. Shinies seem like a pointless concept at this point, GF has constantly made it easier and easier to get them. But why? They're supposed to be uber rare genetic anomalies. Getting a shiny off a random encounter always had more satisfaction for me. As for competitive Pokemon, that doesn't interest me as it's too much work. If I feel like getting any semblance of a competitive experience, I'd just play Showdown anyway. This game not being for the core audience is insulting as this is the first time a main entry has been on a console. If this came out after the 2019 title I wouldn't care
@@jessesalazar6774 The name for starters. They're also meant to be more closer to Pokemon go with the simplified catching mechanics and lack of things like abilities and held items. Severely limited Pokemon roster only 153 whereas main Pokemon games introduce more than half that much as new ones while also keeping a majority of the old ones from other generations. These are meant to be loose spin offs to reel in Pokemon go players to buy a switch.
Really nice and concise review. Thanks. I'm still on the fence since there are so many other good Switch games to play but your review was really good.
This would've been a *GREAT* Kanto remake had it not been contaminated by Pokemon Go's awful mechanics. Why remove something (wild battles) that's been a staple of the series since its conception? When I catch a Pokemon in the core games, it makes me feel like I have a new partner. In Pokemon Go, it feels like I'm *quite literally* collecting candy--you get it, say "Oh, look at that", pop it in your mouth, and continue searching for another quick and fleeting burst of enjoyment. I don't feel like I'm building a team, I feel like it's Halloween.
Pretty sure you can despite what the other comments say, in handheld mode you don't have to use motion controls you line it up with the L stick and throw with a
funny how the fans have asked GameFreak to change up the series and they complied and now the fans are crying about said change they asked for now they are asking to revert back and when they do they will cry about the series going "stale" and the cycle starts anew. this applies to every game and fans of said games. also the fans crying about the difficulty is justified.
the world aint black and white kid no one wants change just for change sake look at starfox or anything miyamoto's been doing most of it gets panned for the bad and uneeded changes being made
You have to be fair here they changed the gameplay to coincide with the weakest version of any pokemon game (spin-off or core game), pokemon go. If theres one game that gets stale fast its pokemon go. Most people stopped playing pokemon go by the time they even announced this game. Essentially they tried to reboot pokemon go to get more $$$. This game has cash grab written all over it. It's quite pathetic to see that even pokemon go, a mobile game, features more pokemon than this game.
Question, if you transfer Mew into your Pokémon file but it somehow gets deleted, does Mew basically regenerate when you start playing a new file? I know Pokémon Let's Go doesn't support the Nintendo Switch Online cloud back up from what I heard. I just want to make sure you'll always be able to access Mew on a new file or say you buy a pre-owned one in the future, will it always come with Mew?
Massive Pokemon Fan (Kanto is King), but I'm a little more than discouraged by what I've heard and seen throughout multiple reviews. No more grinding and everything that seemed remotely tedious seems to have been replaced by boosters or gutted entirely. I miss working your way through Mount Moon, no potions, elixirs, repel, escape ropes your Charmander was poisoned and your party had fainted. You needed to get to a Pokemon Center before the Zubats overwhelmed you. I miss the challenge of grinding my pokemon for so long i knew how much they could take, working your way through the tall grass to find that male Nidoran so you could work your way to Nidoking. Pokemon has yet to disappoint me in all of their iterations, I just wish they implemented a "Challenger Mode" to seasoned trainers, smarter trainer AI, less clues as to where everything is at. I havent played the game and I really appreciate these reviews, I think despite all my complaining this is a getting medium between 3DS and a premier Pokemon Switch game, I just hope Pokemon "insert singular titles" will implement a more challenging side for their more seasoned trainers.
I'm going to be nuzlocking this game on my first playthrough with a few additional rules. One once you load into an area you can pick which pokemon you want to catch but if you run into a different pokemon along the way well then damn. Sucks for you. That's your encounter. Second only 3 heals at anyone pokecenter. If your starter faints you can sacrifice 2 pokemon to revive it. Then dupes clause, and shiny clause
Things to go for 2019: pokemon go mechanics THE HANDHOLDING!!! no wild battles Things to stay 2019: pokemon in overworld pc on you always (maybe) overall hope yall enjoy it tho..
Carl Williams I can see why you'd want that. the reason why i want it to stay is cause it gets rid of the tedious task of running in the grass for one pokemon (and gets rid of the zubats and money on repels, oh my glob!!). If i see a psyduck, I dont have to go through 3 pidgey's and a rattata to get one. Although I do want them to make spawn rates of rarer pokemom to be less so it really feels like your searching for them. Like the shiny's in this one. And they could make wild pokemon tough so when you encounter one by mistake, like it can happen here, (if wild battles return) you'll really know you're screwd and more determined to look for you're specifc one, while leaving a grinding option for those that want it.(not me tho haha). But yeah, no such thing as a perfect game right. just my wishfull thinking.
Wait, so you're locked to one joycon when docked? Personally I'd like to use the left stick for movement and the right face buttons for "face button-ey things" Can you use a pro controller at all?
Jmillar742 that's funny cuz they released a statement saying its not... But oh well, people will believe whatever they want. They even specified saying Pokemon 2019 is a "core" game which surprised me since I didn't think they would refer to it as such.
@@skylanderking7645 the both of you are confusing "core" with "generation", as this is clearly NOT the next generation since it's based off generation 1, but is an RPG, and that's what the translation referred to, they called it an RPG, which fans have interpreted as "core"
As a person who loves Pokemon battles and especially wild ones, should I still get this ASAP? I like catching too, but not as much. Or should I just wait ‘til it goes on sale?
So if I don’t want to play Pokemon go I’m locked out of some fetchers. Like a alola forms. That’s a huge thing to mis out on. And I don’t like the Pokemon go style capture mechanic. This Pokemon go stuff better not be a trend for future games. I know this game is designed to bring over the go audience but i feel like it pushes away core Pokemon fans. The one thing that’s added I do like is seeing the Pokemon in the overworled. That’s nice.
i fail to see why you gave this an 8/10. also why the hell are they trying to make the game easier? back in the 90's millions of kids played the originals and managed just fine. i played pokemon blue when i was 7 and didn't struggle for even a second. just has me wondering who the hell this game is even meant for.
The newest generation of child-friendly games have progressively begun to hold the hands of the user, and anything more might be too difficult. They're trying to cater to all ages, and this is how they've taken it. I understand your point, and the next mainline game might bring interest to you.
Okay? And? Are you trying to throw shade at the younger generations? How bout you calm your flared man tiddies and wait calmly for gen 8 and let us the people who play pokemon for fun enjoy our spinoff
What makes you think this is easier? Just because they makes several QOL improvements doesn't mean the game is easier. It just makes stuff more convenient.
I understand the desire to comment on the competitive nature of the game due to the recent schism between more casual (I'm not using casual as a derogatory term) oriented players and more core/competitive oriented players however if you don't fully understand the systems, you should really avoid doing so. In this review for example, the reviewer mentions how EV's are in the game and they aren't. (Well technically they are but they go unused. I imagine they're just there in the code so that it's able to transfer Pokemon from Let's Go to Gen 8 when it releases next year.) Instead they are replaced with a new system called awakening values, AVs for short. Now on the surface AVs may seem like a more simplified and transparent version of EVs, but they aren't. You see what makes the EV system so great is that there's a limit to how many you Pokemon can have both in each individual stat as well as overall. Said limits are 255 per individual stat and 510 overall. You also didn't get a stat point for every EV, instead getting one for every four EVs instead. This combined with hold items let you customize each Pokemon on your team to best suit your own personal strategies. It also let weaker Pokemon find niches that could let them stand toe to toe with much stronger Pokemon (Look up VGC Pachirisu). AVs on the other hand let you pump 200 into every stat and each AV is equal to a full stat point. By removing the limits that the EV system had, it ends up removing a lot of the customization and creativity that goes into making a team. It's made even worse by the removal of hold items and abilities. I'm not trying to say this makes the game awful or anything, I'm just trying to show that there's more wrong with the stat system from a competitive angle than the review lets on.
Can I move things too and from pokemon bank? And can I bring things from other generations if so? Do you have to beat the game first or transfer to and from right away?
Out of inferest how farmin the game did it take to get that sailor set? I've avoided most videos so I can be surprised, but this review has me liking Eevee being on my head more than I thought from what I'd read.
Honestly can't wait for this game. I understand that they wanted to try something different with this game and I think it really shows that they cared and took time to recreate Kanto in 3D . I know not everyone will like this but, I think a nice comment is needed in this comment section as half of it is a bunch of butt hurt people who love to complain and say its complete shit. Some of those people will also have no idea how to create a game like this or know the fact that they had to relearn code to put these games onto the switch. I don't know how to create a game as well but, thats besides the point . I am grateful that I will have something to play this year and also look forward to gen 8. I think this game is a step GameFreak and Nintendo need to take to test out these new features and how a Pokemon game would do on the switch.
I'm completely fine with the existence of this game. It's not one I'm going to buy personally, but it's also something that could be good for the overall Pokemon series, so long as Game Freak and Pokemon Company keep this as a separate series and don't try to infuse the aspects with the core games. Considering these games could drag the Let's Go market into the core Pokemon experience, the existence of them could boost sales of the next core game and ensure that we get more Pokemon Switch games. The last thing we need is a disastrous launch of a core title on Switch and have them abandon it and retreat to the handhelds.
can you have multiple saves by using multiple accounts on the same switch? or is it the rumored 1 per switch; from an old rumor I heard a long while ago?
Dragoner Productions; after searching online, it seems it is confirmed one save per account - so up to 8 saves per switch (16 with both games, if you make max accounts)
Ethoea chill out bro it’s just a game.. yes I should of added as my “opinion” but I still believe this game shouldn’t be priced the same as rdr2 or botw .. big meaty games
Ethoea We’re dealing with different ideas of worth here. You’re talking about “worth” in the personal enjoyment sense which is entirely subjective. But the OP is talking about “worth” more along moral grounds, i.e. “is it wrong that they are charging £50 for this game?” And I think there is a case to be made for that. Compared to games like BotW and Rdr2 which took 5+ years to make and much more money and effort, this game looks like a cash grab and may not be “worth” charging people £50 (people in general, i.e. the fanbase as a whole, not you individually).
I dont even play pokemon, but I am heavily thinking about getting this game. Kinda funny reading people comments and complaints about the game and haven't even played it themselves. Plus the average score so far for this game is 8 out 10, so it must be something great about it. Tbh honest most people who grew up with pokemon in 90s like I are around 27 to 30 years old. Do people still expect these games to give them a challenge, when these games are specifically aimed at children and teenagers 5-17. If want a challenge try playing Smt4 and smt 4 apocalypse for the 3ds. It is just like pokemon except for adults and with demons, also with a difficulty that will make you wanna scream out of frustration.
@@Millicente I said it in my comment. Why a game that is not taking advantage AT ALL of the Switch graphical capabilities runs at 30fps and have slowdown? If it was a big game like Xenoblade 2 I would understand more but that is not the case.
As a more casual fan of Pokémon I think this games looks like something I’d probably want to buy. A lot of people watching these videos are probably hard core fans but I started playing at around Black and White when I was a little kid and liked the game a lot, so for the next two or three years my sister and I kinda became obsessed with Pokémon, but in a casual way. I’ve recently stopped buying the games due to my 3DS breaking but I’d like to pick this one up because it looks fun. I’m so glad you can see Pokémon now, that *really* bugged me. Everyone had a right to their own opinion and I respect that, but just remember that not *everyone* is a hard core fan and doesn’t mind the change that much.
Definitely got my Pokeball bundle preordered. I REALLY Hope this does well enough to get me a Let's Go, Totodile sequel! I do have one question: Are all 151 pokemon in the game, or are the separated to encourage getting both/having a friend with both? Also, is there trading, or is that just through Pokemon Go?
You know the Pokemon fanbase is nostalgia-blind when they hate on newer Pokemon games for being "too easy" and never stopped to consider that maybe, just maybe, Pokemon was never all too difficult to begin with.
If you've played XY with the EXP share on, all the way through you know how boring it can be. Challenge often means balanced most games were pretty good. I hate the massive level jumps in HGSS, so grinding is not challenge.
@@april5054 I said 'If'. I have played XY multiple times with the exp share off. But my point was that balance is important to challenge; being severely over or under leveled is not fun. The exp share is built into let's go for catching so it works a little differently
So if i get Lets Go Pikachu, will I still be able to use Eevee or vice-versa? How about Co-op mode? Is there any significant differences between the versions?
If you ever wanted to know how bad let's go is all you have to do it watch any number of reviews on it where the reviewer spends most of his time trying to convince you that the changes aren't that bad lol
As someone who never got into Pokémon originally on the GameBoy, but who always wanted to dip his toes into the Pokémon world, should I give this a go?
You can sugar-coat it all you want, but this game is not for the die-hard Pokemon gamer IMO. Wouldn't pay full price for this game at all. Seems like a wait for sale game even if you have slight interest in it.
I known that a lot of people don’t like it beeing more “casual”, but as someone that hasn’t really played any previous main Pokémon Game I’m happy to make this my first
I hope to god Gen 8 is absolutely NOTHING like this, at all. I'll still see what gen 8 looks like, but as of this game, Pokemon has died, and for no reason other than Masuda's sudden obsessions with Gen 1 and the Mobile Market, where real games have absolutely no business.
Kek Gaming agreed.Maduda seems to have no idea what the gaming audience truly want anymore. First we got US/UM which were not bad games but tbh shouldn’t have existed and now these. When you compare these games to BOTW, SMO, Splatoon 2, ARMS ect ect it lacks the innovation and care that makes the switch’s big hits so amazing. This makes me scared for gen 8 but as long as they have breeding and stats like they have always been, I’ll be fine with them
Well Junichi didnt do USUM or SM but either way hes apparently stepping down from all director roles in the future. Good at this point in time, although i loved BW so kinda sad for me there.
@@DryPaperHammerBro Doesn't make his work on Black and White any less meaningful. It takes a lot for a director to change up how a game operates drastically from his last directing position (Platinum) I am really surprised BW turned out as differently as they did. Also BW2 are still amazing games in my opinion, Takao Unno did a great job and I would love to see him helm a Generation 8 game even if it is a remake of Sinnoh.
what i need to know before i buy a switch and this game is, can u soft reset the charmander part til you get a shiny? meaning do u get diff ones each time?
Personally the only thing that this game offers that I even remotely care about is a legit Mew in that silly pokeball controller. Even inspite of the good reviews it still just looks like glorified Pokemon Go.
Nintendo fans: "This game will make Switch sell that 15 million more systems to make their goal by March"- yeah, if this were a real Pokemon game, and it's not, it's a stripped down, mobile app-based "game"!
I feel like the Pokemon title song for Kanto is 100% accurate to this game if you want to 100% complete. Being the best like no one ever was. Catching them all is my real test, to train them is my cause. Travelling and searching far and wide and teach Pokemon the power that's inside. Basically. Catch them all, have a living dex, train them all have a living dex of level 75+. Become the very best, beat them all..every trainer every master. Pretty cool representation, I'm sure some one creative enough will make some cool Let's Go montages with the Pokemon Theme.

Amen, fam. Amen. *Moon* felt way too hand-holdy.
Hopefully gen 8 will be as good as a console pokemon deserves to be
@@jaredkhan8743
Good god you sound like an entiteled fanboy.
It is one Pokemon game out of so, so many.. Move on and wait for the next one.

I really wanted a Pokemon Red and Blue remake on the switch, but not like this...
Mario R same. since my cousin bought the game, ill try it out and see if i like it.

Tbh, the Pokémon in overworld mechanic needs to (Pokémon) go.
The newest generation of child-friendly games have progressively begun to hold the hands of the user, and anything more might be too difficult. They're trying to cater to all ages, and this is how they've taken it.

Thanks for the review answered some questions that seemed weren't being answered by the main stream reviews. Subscribed :)
Why would “seasoned players” be interested in the dumbed down IV and EV system?
Forced to use motion controls docked... that's just ridiculous
Can I move things too and from pokemon bank? And can I bring things from other generations if so? Do you have to beat the game first or transfer to and from right away?
wait...... you just read other people's review? uh..okay..that's..weird
It's 1 per switch
Dragoner Productions; after searching online, it seems it is confirmed one save per account - so up to 8 saves per switch (16 with both games, if you make max accounts)
Pc from bag!? That’s broken, does it still heal your pokemon?
Fighting before catching a Pokemon? It's NOT there. Won't get it.
This game is not worth £50 ..
Stay Sane I’m looking forward to it cause it’s OST is amazing and it’s nice and fresh to see another gen 1 remake after fire red and leaf green
@@zeeem4404 Not a Sinnoh. Where's my Sinnoh?!
how?
Ethoea chill out bro it’s just a game.. yes I should of added as my “opinion” but I still believe this game shouldn’t be priced the same as rdr2 or botw .. big meaty games
Ethoea
We’re dealing with different ideas of worth here.
Slowdown...? This game has Slowdown... Man, GameFreak is more incompetent than I thought.
Jowe you thought they were incompetent? Well, I’d like to know why if you don’t mind
@@Millicente I said it in my comment. Why a game that is not taking advantage AT ALL of the Switch graphical capabilities runs at 30fps and have slowdown? If it was a big game like Xenoblade 2 I would understand more but that is not the case.
Jowe Didn’t it run at a steady 60fps and only dropped in viridian forest?
@@Tom-oz8it it probably would have been mentioned if it was running at 60fps
gamefreak is a lazy bastards company...
I hate the catching mechanic, and thats really turning me off...
Question. I'm guessing you don't have to trade in order to evolve pokemon in this version?
Thx for the review!
Too many people mix required grinding with "challenge".
If you've played XY with the EXP share on, all the way through you know how boring it can be. Challenge often means balanced most games were pretty good.
I hate the massive level jumps in HGSS, so grinding is not challenge.
@@toddcarter4829 turn off exp share. It's _LITERALLY_ GF's version of changing the difficulty.
^This.
@@april5054 I said 'If'. I have played XY multiple times with the exp share off.
But my point was that balance is important to challenge; being severely over or under leveled is not fun.
The exp share is built into let's go for catching so it works a little differently
So single joycon for handheld mode to? For some reason that bothers me. I'll have to try it out to get used to it
Smile? Nope. Sigh in annoyance? Yup.
You're just passionate leaving multiple negative comments.. smh
New to the series... is this a remake of Pokémon yellow on the original Gameboy?
Wait does this cost more than super mario Odyssey
Yes, it does.
This.
This...
It cost the same.
@@Baal_in_Dark well in the UK mario odyssey cost around £40 whereas let's go is around £50
@@dgomez301 Don't know how the currency works in the UK. But at least in the US. Both are $60.
For me its the same price as ultimate which is 80$ca
Wait, how did you get the games early?
Glad to hear it’s not a bad game but still going to pass on this one since it’s not marketed for someone at my experience level with this franchise
Gee what a badass, fancying yourself on another "experience level" with this franchise.
@@april5054 Don't freeze trying to sound too cool, dude.
@@HolyPetRel too late that experienced player line has given me frostbite just reading it
I wonder if I should get this game or Just Cause 4 for the holidays
Is pro controller supported?
no iirc
No pro controler, but it really doesn't matter seeing as how long the joycon battery lasts...
That's not the point
So if i get Lets Go Pikachu, will I still be able to use Eevee or vice-versa? How about Co-op mode?
Is there any significant differences between the versions?
Jasper Quach Oddish can only be found in let’s go pikachu, And bellsprout can only be found in let’s go eevee
It's not out until Friday, but it looks great to me!
I've got it on pre-order
You can sugar-coat it all you want, but this game is not for the die-hard Pokemon gamer IMO. Wouldn't pay full price for this game at all. Seems like a wait for sale game even if you have slight interest in it.
Is there an exp share?
Yes but you can toggle it off if you want.
@@faceofbearr I got my info from the recent Nintendo direct they did on this game
@@faceofbearr you can toggle it off
I known that a lot of people don’t like it beeing more “casual”, but as someone that hasn’t really played any previous main Pokémon Game I’m happy to make this my first
I hope to god Gen 8 is absolutely NOTHING like this, at all.
@@Hydralyph Imo, W2 isn't bad w/o him!
@@DarkCreeper010 Agreed. I just want my Sinnoh, myself. Never owned the original. I still have my White card. I started w/ Blue Rescue Team.
what i need to know before i buy a switch and this game is, can u soft reset the charmander part til you get a shiny? meaning do u get diff ones each time?
Personally the only thing that this game offers that I even remotely care about is a legit Mew in that silly pokeball controller. Even inspite of the good reviews it still just looks like glorified Pokemon Go.
I'd wait for an event if I were you. It's not worth it to waste your money AND give Nintendo positive reinforcement for this game.
@@Alvosploio you do make a good point, but. . . Easy access to something they are normally stupid stingy with lol.
Hmm idk idk idk! Should I buy? Especially if there is no breeding
Still, no.
I think they should have allowed you to use touchscreen to catch in handheld mode
Can't wait to play it!
8:32 mentions soft-resetting for specific stats. How is soft-resetting implemented? Or is it just reloading the save in-game?
Nintendo fans: "This game will make Switch sell that 15 million more systems to make their goal by March"- yeah, if this were a real Pokemon game, and it's not, it's a stripped down, mobile app-based "game"!
What does happen when you evolve your eevee?
Is the evolution also sitting on your head and can it wear the costumes too?
Might be like your Pikachu in Yellow that refused to evolve.
Walaigi for lets go!
Can you change your character's race like in Pokemon Sun & Moon?
edetunanaowo
There’s customization so probably yes :p
Yeah.... this is a hard no.
It sounds to much holding hand for my taste among I can't stand the lets go gameplay
