    This is more commanding than what Stevie finally released so many years later, it’s all the better with her band mates supporting her in the classic style of Fleetwood Mac, she takes centre stage for the main part and they all come together in the end to produce pure harmony and emotion

      She and Stevie had great chemistry concerning that. I felt the same way with Sting and Andy Summers. Both made a mistake of not bringing them on their solo stuff.

    This is, by far, the best version of this song. The change in tempo, direction makes the overall song far more interesting the the Stevie Nicks solo version.

      Just remembered I made this comment. 8 months later, I'm 35 and still enjoying Fleetwood Mac, discovered so much more, including her early band Fritz and Birmingham Nicks which I enjoyed. I grew up on the oldies thanks to my mom and I don't know what it is, but there's something really beautiful in her I find in Stevie Nicks. I wish I could meet her.

    This is definitely a great cut and it is a terrible shame that it didn't make the final track listing on Mirage but I think most of you were wrong for saying that Stevie selections on Mirage were limited. She did have some really good songs on Mirage. In fact the songs on Mirage that are Stevie's are near perfection

    Mirage was a moment on Vinyl . . .only so many minutes per side. Stevie has long refused to cut the length of her songs. Like Silver Springs, this track probably didn't make the album because of its' length. Neat song! Even with the heavy Tusk flavor. . .

    • @rsc-household3269
      @rsc-household3269 8 років тому +4

      since mac was 5 people 4 of which writers (tho mick did not really contribute till his own solo stuff) the idea was all 3 lindsey chris and stevie's work equally appearing on the bands records. stevie was great at shortening songs, look at outside the rain studio vs live and live is the true unbridled length -- there was just too much good music all at once in these few years with mirage, and then nothing for a long time after. its why the who's success was limited...zep etc, mac, all the creme de la creme were out at once i guess, industry wise.

    • @cw9817
      @cw9817 3 роки тому

      Yes, but "Gold Dust Woman" had a lengthy outro that could have been trimmed to make way for "Silver Springs," which only ran about four-and-a-half minutes. After all, the version of "Sisters of the Moon" that ended up on Tusk cut the entire final verse, which Nicks still sang in concert. This version of IYWML easily could have been trimmed a bit to fit on Mirage; even just cutting the final section after the initial fadeout would have helped.

      Cicilo1983 Yes, 😛, thank God "Dreams" made it onto an album... Yes, like they cut "Silver Springs"... Stevie's within the top 5 singer-songwriters of all-time, male or female, top one, depending on your mood... Her demos are quite often better, stripped of unneeded studio-over production, not that the released originals aren't really special!...

    There was/is something really good there but they just didn't manage to shape it, etc. I love hearing this sort of thing, shows process. Can you imagine the pressure of being in the studio and dealing with feelings plus the need to just get the record (as it was called at the time) done, etc. Nice to talk about once it's over but while it's happening, etc. etc.
