    What they dont mention is that most Asian countries have a mandatory retirement age, usually 62, so if you are over 60 forget it. They wont call you. Also, while they might consider a run-of-the-mill TEFL certificate if desperate, desirable schools that pay well or have good benefits almost always insist on the Cambridge CELTA or Trinity TESOL.

    I think many of these numbers are off, mostly in the direction of inflation. For example, they say salaries in Japan start at 2,200 USD per month. However, that is about 333,000 yen, which is much higher than the average, especially for a beginner. Average is probably more like 250,000 yen. Also they say you can expect housing, but that's definitely not true. Almost no jobs in Japan provide housing. They might help you find a house, but they won't pay for it. Teaching abroad can be a great experience, but it's not as lucrative or as easy to save money as it used to be, outside of China or teachers in advanced roles.
