    I love that you mention you are putting in an ad before they pop in, it makes it a much nicer experience than when they come up by surprise. It makes me wonder why more youtubers dont do it that way.

      Yes! I always wondered if they could choose the place in the video because some felt on purpose and some felt very random, but this was the best experience I had with a mid-video ad!

  • @clickypens
    @clickypens 5 років тому +80

    I very unexpectedly love that you announce when you are placing your ads. I can't think of anyone else who does this, and it caught me off guard the first couple of times. But now I hear you say that you're going to put in an ad break and I automatically get up to grab a water or switch the laundry or any number of quick things I do when I get a commercial break on TV. It's like you're saying, "You have 90 seconds to walk away from your phone/computer, stretch your legs, get something done." Idk why I need the heads up for that effect, but it's fantastic, and I love it.

    • @inkasaraswati7625

      Me too! I usually try to watch the ads at the beginning of videos of UA-camrs I like, but I almost always skip the ones the middle because I feel annoyed. But not Hannah's, because she announces it and I think it's a brilliant move! It's not cutting her in the middle of a sentence, and I know what to expect.

    • @mirandaranda
      @mirandaranda 5 років тому +5

      I’m not sure if she addressed it as such but I noticed she started doing if after a commenter was saying it’s so dissonant to be hearing her talk about anti-consumerism and then be interrupted by an ad. Seeing that she’s listening to people’s actual commentary on how to more clearly convey her message makes me extra like it!

    the way i get a blotted look with liquid lipsticks is by putting a ton of chapstick on and then a little bit of the liquid lipstick in the center of my lip and then rub it over the rest of my lips with my finger and then i push my lips together and taht gives a rly nice blotted look

    I use liquid lipsticks for a blotted look frequently - I put on a lip balm first, then put a little liquid lipstick in the center of my lips and tap my finger over the liquid lipstick to diffuse it out. It usually works well - I'm sure there are some formulas that might not cooperate...

  • @jayland9321
    @jayland9321 5 років тому +1

    To repurpose all of my liquid lipsticks, I apply a hydrating lip balm first then a few dots of liquid lipstick to sheer it out and make it more Moisturizing. It’s worked pretty well so far. It creates a nice satiny version of the liquid lipstick

    Hanna have you tried olive oil as a makeup remover? It’s the best, I have used biphasic remover before, it doesn’t clean as well and removes all natural barrier oils I may have. I have seen my mother using this method ALL of my life. I’m Spanish tho (olive oil producer) so it’s not as expensive, but it’s worth trying if you’re interested. How to: I would wet a cotton pad and remove any water excess from the cotton (so it doesn’t absorb that much oil) and the pump some oil from a reused makeup container. You use one or two cotton pads till you remove everything (you can tell cause the pads will look like they can’t take any more makeup on each side), then I remove most of the oil with a quick face wash and then, face wet, I put some more wash on my face and I use my clarasonic (with a 4-5.5 ph soft cleanser). My skin doesn’t feel strip later and I know I don’t have any residue.

      mmm, olive oil, it's one of my favorite foods! But I'm afraid to use it on my face because I'm so acne prone!

    • @suryabaray8227
      @suryabaray8227 5 років тому +2

      I also use coconut oil as a cleansing balm and wipe it off with my microfibre washcloths and don't find it to be pore-clogging that way on my acne-prone skin...also: I let it sit in my hair everywhere but at the roots before rinsing it out with shampoo and the shine it gives is UNREAL

    • @aidcaor
      @aidcaor 5 років тому +1

      Hannah Louise Poston I was afraid too as a teenager having acne and sensitive skin and all of that, but I guess that moms know best sometimes... she told me to just use it (it took me a bit to get used to not to get it on my eyes) and I ended up liking it ... it doesn’t clog the pores at all and now I consider any makeup remover a waste of money. There’s nothing as natural and without conservatives (my mom is allergic to some)
      I guess that it’s the same rule as not over washing your face being dry so you don’t over produce oils. Personally, I think it helps me not to strip everything, acting as a protective layer when washing my face.
      At the beginning I could kind of feel the oil as being too much on the skin till I washed it off.
      If you’re interested you could look into it online, it may save you some money if you end up using it :)
      Also, thank you Hanna, your effort with your channel personally gave me new things to think about I would have never thought otherwise, since I started watching your UA-cam channel I make a real effort to keep myself accountable with the cosmetics I buy and to think of the future I want for myself too

    • @aidcaor
      @aidcaor 5 років тому +1

      Surya Baray I have to try olive oil on my hair like that!, sometimes I use it on my ends if they’re too fried up. I feel like coconut oil is absorbed better tho... hope I can try that out too
      It would also be useful right know for the body and also wanted to butcher a highlighter to made a homemade shimmery oil. But I remember it as cheap (I lived on usa for a bit) and I checked the price this week on a store in Spain and it was like 8 euros per 450 grams....

    I really enjoy the bite lip crayons. They go on easily, stay on the lip longer than bullet lippies, but aren’t dry.
    You, Hannah, have gotten me obsessed (and I don’t use that word!) with Bobbi Brown’s crushed lip series (both the bullet and the liquid.) I got a new shade in an order from the sale and it’s gorgeous. They just feel exquisite on the lips. Never in my life before have I been inclined to “collect” or, I guess accumulate would be a better word, all the shades that I can pull off (no nudey nudes or vampy plums).. and with their blotted formula, for the first time in my life I feel like I can wear a red lip and have it look good ! I have Ruby, Telluride and just acquired Babe today as a gift, but Cherry is calling my name. So flattering on all skin tones.

    Have you tried just straight Hemp Oil as a cleansing oil? I bought a large bottle of food grade Hemp oil and I love it! (I chose Hemp oil after doing research on the oils that have the lowest chance of breaking you out). It's so cheap and if you put it into a nice small bottle you can keep the big bottle in the fridge so it will last longer.

It’s not like this is “insider info” or whatever because I have no info about these things, but I’ve always believed that reviews on sephora are fake. I just find it hard to believe that 90% of their products have over 4 star reviews with hundreds of reviews. But that’s just a personal opinion! I love asking for others opinions on facebook groups and such because it’s always going to be just individual people sharing their own opinions!

    What exactly are soap brows? Does soap work better for sealing in brows than regular brow gel? I don't do anything to my brows except brush them but I've been wanting to buy a brow gel that can really hold the shape of my brows after I brush them because without any product in them, they go everywhere. I have very bold full brows and I don't want to fill them in or use a tinted brow gel but I could get behind soap or regular brow gel. Would you do a video where you explain what soap you use and how you use it?

    Hannah,I always love your empties video’s so much,and what you think about those products.I also love your make-up today,but my true favorite,is the lipcolour that you are wearing,even if it’s a combination from two different products,this colour looks realy fabulous on you,I realy hope that you Will wear this lipcombo more often,this colour looks so beautifull on you,that it looks like it’s speciale designed for you,I just van’t stop looking at that colour.It’s realy fabulous that you also had three make-up empties,all from well loved products,realy amazing.You always loved during your no buy year when you emptied make-up products,but even after your no buy year,it’s still fabulous to emptie a make-up product.I always love when I have a empty product,no matter if it’s skincare,bodycare,haircare,or make-up,but when I empty a make-up product,that always feel special,because the product was beautyfull,and special enough,to use it up completely,and that gives sometimes a sad feeling,because you know that you don’t own that beautifull product anymore,but it also gives a happy feeling,from the beautifull time you had enjoying that product,and now that it’s empty,you can fully enjoy all your other make-up products that you love.It’s also fabulous to hear that that cbd supplement,that you use now over six months,that you have so many bennefits from that product,and i am glad for you that you can use one packaging just over three months,so that it’s affordable for you to keep that product using.I am totally openminded about using cbd oils,crèmes or supplements,i am also open minded to use cannabis on a medical subscription.I use cannabis on a medical subscription because i have eds type 3,that’s a soft tissue dissease caused by a defect on your DNA,that’s not currable,but a verry painfull illness,because every joint pops out multiple times a day,my spine is a wreck,every spinebone is sitting loose so I am not able to walk anymore,and I lay 22 hours a day flat in bed,I can only sit in a wheelchair for maximum 20 minutes before my torso Will sack in totally,I am wearing splints and braces all over my body,and spinebone from my neck,till my tailbone,and when I sit 20 minutes,I Will shrink 5-6 cm,and that take hours of laying before everything Will sit on his original place again,but also my organs are from soft tissue,so I get problems with all my organs.Three months ago,I had three strokes at the same time,because my brains and my veins are also soft tissue.I am so thankfull that my illness is not lifeshortening,and I am possitive,and I am always looking to the little things I still can enjoy,and little things I am still able to do,for example my make-up in the morning,that takes for me 1 1/2 hour,because I need to rest inbetween,but when I look good,I am feeling a little better.I still try to get to my mom 4 times a week,to eat there,so that I still get outside a few times a week,I enjoy when I am able to go with my hubby to a store,are a little walk with the dogs in my wheelchair.But when I sit longer then 20 minutes,I am not able to go outside the next day,that’s a consequence where I need to deal with.I need to make choises,because I am in so much pain 24/7,I need to take daily muscle relaxers,but also six times a day a high dose of morfine,and I wear a morfine plaster that I need to change every other day,but the painteam in the hospital had decide tree years ago,that I needed to use cannabis on a medical prescription,on a daily base because it relaxes my muscles,works for bone pains,but also for pain in my muscles and joints,so I make tea from it or sometimes I smoke it,and that lower the dose of morfine,so I have less side effects from the morfine,like nausia,sleep,forgetting everything,feeling whooshy in my head,because high doses morfine gives you a very drunken feeling,and using cannabis,I won’t get high from it because my body is so used to high doses morfine,and muscle relaxer,and other painmeds,that I don’t get high from it,but using cannabis two times a day,means for me that I need 6 morfine tablets lesser that day.I don’t use cannabis on a daily base,only when the pain is unbareble.I always were against any kind of drugs and alcohol,so it realy took a while before I started using cannabis,that was for my the highest mountain to take,but I am in a situation,that when I don’t use cannabis,then the doctors need to start with a narcoticum for the pain,because they van’t higher the dose morfine.I just turned 46,and I want to live way longer,and swallowing even a narcoticum,is very bad for my liver and kidneys,using cannabis,is a natural medication,that have no effects on my liver or kidneys.I wrote this because many people have a meaning about using cbd,or cannabis,but those have both less side effects,than Some medication have.Using cannabis on a prescription from a painteam in the hospital,with multiple specialists,and a specialist who give people narcoticum for surgery’s,doesn’t make me a drugaddict,or a bad person,in my case is it to give my life a better quality,less side effects from other medication,and healthier organs.I hope that Some people get a more open vision about cbd,or cannabis,for Some people it’s realy a medication,and not being a drugaddict that needs a daily dose to function,or to feel high all the time.Years ago before I went sick,I had a different opinion about drugs,people who used it,and why,I never thought at that time that it realy could be a lifesaving medicin,for Some kind of illnesses.,I would never use it,just for fun to get high,in my situation I had no other option.I need to pay for the cannabis,and I just get it on prescription with the pharmasist.The cannabis on prescription,is a healthier,clean cannabis,than the cannabis you can buy everywhere.It just Made me completely thinking others then before,ofcourse there are drugaddicts which need daily a dose to function,and get high,but there is also a Total different catagory of people who need to use cannabis for other purpossis,then getting high,and those people are not choosing for this lifestyle,they want to survive,because they are ill.But I totaly understand you Hannah,why you didn’t tell imideatly that you use a cbd supplement and why,and that you waited telling it because Some people think strange about using cbd,but it works fabulous for many different things,and indeed,you can’t get high from cbd,and you don’t get addicted to cbd,it’s a fabulous natural product/medication for many different medical conditions,and often it’s much healthier to use,than regular medication.Hannah thank you so much for sharing this video,and i realy hope that more people get open minded by using cbd,or in Some cases cannabis,xoxo wendy❤️

    12:16 In "The Subtle Art of Not Giving a Fuck", the author refers to this as The Feedback Loop From Hell. The metacognition we are blessed with basically bites us in the ass & amplifies our negativity & insecurities. If you haven't read/listened to it yet, I highly recommend it! I also feel it really complements the goal of your channel -- doing away with what doesn't matter to make time & money for what is meaningful to you.

    I'd just caution that my ex, who is a doctor, always advised people against using sponges because they are notorious for harbouring bacteria, since they never dry out completely, especially when kept in a damp bathroom, and they therefore can cause skin infections. After one particularly nasty case he told me about, I've avoided them. So be aware! Don't keep them around for months on end, once they've got wet once. This may well be why the brand only recommend using them for six washes (even though they are infused with enough product for more).

    • @drionaitalia
      @drionaitalia 5 років тому +1

      @@sarahintothesun4099 Perhaps! They don't get as wet, though, and they're not usually stored in a wet place so they can dry out completely between uses. And I gather that's the key.

    Hannah, maybe trying a green colour correcting primer would be even better for you? I personally much prefer primers for colour correcting, especially on clients. It gives you so much more glide and its not so pigmented that you have to use so much product to cover up and you also get heaps of products in a tube. Two of my favourite ones are the MUFE one and the Givenchy one, the later one does have spf and it use the yellow one in a daily.

    • @HannahLouisePoston
      @HannahLouisePoston  5 років тому

      I do have a few (I have the MUFE one, actually!) and my favorite is the one by Clarins. They help a little bit but they don't fully cancel the redness, which is what I'm looking for. I'm so fair and so yellow-toned and I have SO much redness that I can actually layer a green color corrector over a green primer and not look green, it's crazy. It just brings me to the point where my face matches my neck and chest.
