I immediately wanted to comment that you don't owe us anything, and the way that you validate your purchases for us isn't necessary, but I know you do these videos to hold yourself accountable. Plus, I want you to keep holding yourself accountable because I absolutely love watching the exercises that you go through to meet your goals. I've learned a lot from you. Thank you.
It’s a really interesting point of what are the things still really talked about after the frenzy of a launch as died down. Definitely an indicator of the real jewels in the makeup world.
You should pick up a reusable pump bottle for micelar water so you can buy whatever you like or is cheapest at the moment. They're pretty cheap on Amazon or websites or nail tech, art, scientific, or industrial supply websites.
Thats a great idea. I always wonder if its safe for me to reuse the same plastic pump bottle. Ive had it for a few years and just clean it before reusing again
"Angsting." Love it. For months I've been toying with the idea of getting my own spending under control... and feeling so much guilt over my silly purchasing habits. I never knew that what I needed was a highly articulate makeup-obsessed poet who was willing to narrate her own journey and thereby inspire me to spend more time using and appreciating what I have. And here you are! THANK YOU! I love your channel.
Agreed! It's nice to know and not have out interrupt a sentence. It seems like others don't pay attention to it at all. That's the only time I think it's annoying lol. Mid-sentence, mid-word, then bam, Boxycharm or insurance. Then the other half of the word. 😂
Your love for those new shadows has really inspired me to go back and play with my two colourpop super shock shadows and reminded me how much I love them. IDK why, something about being reminded of cream eyeshadows and how fun and easy they are, but instead of feeling like "oh I like thing so I need MORE THING" I'm just like I like thing so I'm going to USE THING MORE. My favorite is Honor Roll because it's this matte brown with beautiful gold shimmers in it, but it's not full shimmer.
Your metaphor dilemma and subsequent squishing down into your chair around 12:00 is perhaps the cutest thing I've seen all week. Also - totally with you on those L'Oreal Shine lip products! I'm always more drawn to products that manage to sustain their "hype" long past the launch. I have Glossy Fawn in that line and love it - almost panned!
Incredible coincidence ... I smelled this candle scent (same brand) only 5 days ago and my exact though was: oh no, this is a Hannah Louise Poston woody scent, not a foody me scent. I have never come across this brand before.
Hannah, I want you to know that sirens do not bug me in the background of a videos. I know you live dt in a big city, and it's what I would expect from a video filmed in that setting. I very fortunate by watching your videos, so thank you for filming them. :)
Just to let you know, the Clionadh shadow prices your mentioned are in CAD (Canadian dollars) so they are actually a bit cheaper, about 25% less, in USD!
How do you clean your reusable cotton rounds? Do you find that they get really stained? I'm trying to reduce my waste and had wanted to try some, but was worried about the cleaning process haha. I've tried and really liked the makeup eraser, but found that it got really stained after a while which bothered me
Hannah,I loved this video,it shows how much you learned during your no buy year, and during your budgetyear, now 9 months, how well you can plan what you want to do with your budget, and even if it costs, almost 2 months of no buy, than you are able to do it,to purchase that one bigger, and more expensive piece, that you want so badly. For me it shows that you have your shoppingbehavior well under control, because you don’t mind the weeks that you don’t have any budget to spend. The eyeshadows you bought in August were more expensive than you would normaly spend on eyeshadows, but if you see how often you used them, and how happy those eyeshadows you make, than it’s a good purchase.I saw all your decluttervideo, and you did those fantastic, realy my compliments, but you decluttered eyeshadowpallets that were way more expensive, than the eyeshadows you bought in August, and those shadows have gave you much more love and joy in those few weeks than Some expensive eyeshadowpallets did in a much longer period of time. It’s not always that cheaper things Will give you more joy, because you can make more purchases for your budget is gone. The trick is to think about the purchases that you want to make, and how much joy that purchase Will give you.I think when you make spontanius shoppingtrips, and buy products, that you can regret those, when you think about what you want to buy,go and look or fit,or Swatch those products, make you sure about what you want, and Some more expensive things, you can save more months a sertain amount for it,before you can buy it,or you do it like now, spending 1 1/2 months of your budget on it,just do it the way that feels best for you.I personly would always keep a little from my budget as savings for when you need to make a repurchase imideatly, and that don’t need to be a high amount, but maybe $10 or$20,- always because it can always be that you need to make a repurchase imideatly, because of a little accident, for example, that your miscellar water fell on the Floor,or your moisterizer felt an brake, those are things that don’t use often, but there is always a possibility, last week I dropped my bottle of vitamin e oil by accident on the Floor, totaly broken,it was a glass bottle,I had a new one in stash, but what I try to say is that those things always come by accident, and if it’s a product you really need to use on a daily base, than you can replace it,maybe by a cheaper product than usual, but than you have financial room to replace it,without feeling bad.Little accident just happens once in a while.A few months ago, when we weren’t home, our showergel felt on the bathroomfloor, broke,it was a plastic bottle, but it was totally empty, probably one of us,hasn’t placed it well on the rack.My hubby wanted to take a shower after dinner, and saw the new bottle bodywash, totally empty, the bottem broke finally from the bottle when it bounced on the ground, bodywash everywhere,it took a long time to rinse that totally from the Floor, the Floor stayed slippery,so we needed to scrub it,I always have a huge stash beautyrelated products, but when you don’t have that, and you bought a day earlier a new bottle.Bodywash isn’t so expensive, but when your budget is totally gone, than you could have a problem, but it also can happen with a more expensive product, like your oils you love to use.We live on a small budget, and two weeks ago our refridgerator broke,so we needed to replace it,it was the end of the month,so we used all our money, and when you live on a low budget than you don’t have savings,we could loan it from my parents, and we already paid them back, because they also live on a low budget,so I felt guilty,I Will try to save just a small bit,about€200,-for when something brakes,I don’t need new things in my house, and most things are replacable for under €200,- second hand, but it’s going to be difficult to get that on savings, that’s why I wanted you to explain that you rather can save just a teeny Tiny amount, for when something brakes by accident, when you have no budget anymore to replace it,than it could get bad, than you better replace it with a cheaper product, because your budget isn’t big,for all you need to do with it,but small savings, can help you in Some situations, and I know you can live without luxurious products, that you realy showed us during your no buy,but Some beautyrelated products, you don’t have on stock, but you couldn’t miss them, most products you need for daily use,and small accident can happen.I realy don’t mean this a critisism,I only say this because I realy care for you,and you do so well, last year with your no buy,and now 9 months with a small budget, because you realy do a lot from your budget,make-up,clothes,housewear,beautyrelated items, and I know that you don’t want to have a stash on products,I understand that, you don’t have a huge space or something, but when you don’t have a stash,or backups from things you need to use at a daily base, than it feels great when you have just a little savings, for when something happens with the products you realy need on a daily base, you probably don’t want to use household money for that kind of replacements,or money for laying Bills, probably you want to realy find a solution so that you can replace it from your budget, because you realy get those things sepperated from eachother, and that’s a realy good thing.I just wanted to give you a bit of good advice Hannah, because you realy do it fabulous, xoxo wendy❤️
I feel you re the weather! I am in Australia where Spring has just started and yet today is one of the coldest days of the year with fog and rain and wind...
I feel you so hard on wanting to break out fall clothes! I just moved to AZ from the Midwest and it’s gonna take soooooo much longer than I’m used to for me to be able to wear my slouchy cozy fall clothes
I love hearing what you have spent your budget on & the reasons why you chose those specific items. I'm excited to see your video of swatching your most awesome shadows. That's going to be a great video. I also like that you have been doing more reviews on your purchases/pr. I never get tired of hearing your opinions🤗
If L’Oréal was cruelty free I would buy those colour riche lipsticks right away. They look so nice. But I love my Marc Jacobs Gloss stick in sugar sugar and I’m happy with it 😊
Is it fewer nicer things? To me, it seems like a shift to better nicer things. This has a lot do with my job and trying to phrase things positively. It all adds up to the same.
I'm curious if you will be playing catch up on the ethics video because you won't have a long How I Spent My Budget video in September? Then finish off the series with the final quarter of the year in January?
Your singing in the beginning sounded like the theme to the Wonderpets show. I used to watch it with my girls who are now teens. I think I might have loved the show more than they did! Lol!
I’m not going to lie.... you have me eyeing those Roen Shadows now. They are very much something I am interested in, specifically the cool toned palette. August was my birthday month and after much thought I decided to restructure my beauty budget into a beauty budget/item based low buy from The day after my birthday until my birthday next year. I actually didn’t buy any items or spend my budget last month. The two items I did buy as birthday presents to myself were bought with gifted money/gift cards which is outside of my “rules”. I let my $250 budget and 4 items a month roll over to September because I knew I had a lot of replacement skin care coming around plus I desperately need fall/winter clothes. September I have 8 items and a $500 budget and I have a feeling it’ll all be gone before then end of the month.... if not... Roen shadows here I come.
I am always more comfortable in a no buy. Spending actually makes me super stressed, which is a big change from a few years ago when I would shop when stressed to calm down. I mean this way is better for not spending.
I love the loreal lipsticks. I have a few different shades, but my favorite,by far, is the varnished rosewood. It is a darker, but still in the nude family. I like the marc jacobs gloss stick as well, but it is definitely a splurge for me.
Who started a budget on September 1st? This girl! The goal is to reign in the spending that doesn’t serve me and squanders my wealth. Before it was “I am going to try to restrict, and pay off as much as I can each month” and that just wasn’t working. And I had to deal with the guilt of “this dollar could be better spent on debt”. I put debt payoff as #1 on my list and built the budget around it. It actually made me feel so much less stress about shopping for some new bralettes that I’ve needed for months, cause I know I have put the money aside for it. Thanks for the inspiration! I also put myself on a no buy September for outdoor gear and road trip snacks - my two weaknesses.
Watching your videos makes my day! Is there a way you could make a video on this look? What highlighter and blush are you wearing? It's so beautiful and I want to see if I can recreate it on myself, or dupe the look! Seeing your looks have always inspired me while play with my makeup! I love how we have such similar coloring in skin tone and hair!! ❤️
I looove your attitude towards products Hannah. So excited to see what you decided to splurge on!! Thank you for continuing the share your journey! My next big purchase will be some Clionadh shadows but probably won't be until after Christmas :-) Also really looking forward to seeing your vlog home :-)
Hey Hannah, in regards to where things settle in after a launch... I am loving the ranking trend. I personally think that the ranking is really what people were craving out of declutter videos. It is at least what i wanted to know from declutter videos. What are you parting with, and what is great? I think the ranking concept gets more to the heart of that for me and I think its... less cyclic. I'd love to see you begin ranking your products if that is something you are interested in :)
I love those Loreal lipsticks, they're so beautiful, balmy, glossy and everyday. Very into it. The packaging is super chic too. I have 4 which is the most out of any lipstick type that I have. We seem to have different colours in Aus though, which is interesting
I am in Australia too and have looked at them multiple times only to be unable to find a shade I like ... we seem to get different shades and different products here for some unknown reason.
I also picked up one of those L'oreal shines around mid-summer and it's now helping me pan lip liners! Autumn YES! I want to wear my wool coat and scarves and let my tan fade and to finally not sweat everything off.
I've found that Yes to micellar water at TJ Maxx (it was the yes to cotton version) for $3 so you might keep an eye out for that! I also really like the pump (but obviously if you can keep reusing the one bottle then it doesn't matter too much.) I thought I hated those Loreal shine lipsticks but I've been trying to use things I have and I'm like oh this is actually nice (but I do wish I'd bought a different color, I should have done more research like you instead of just grabbing one randomly at the drug store!)
Hannah, am I delusional, or have you only bought ONE pair of shoes since your no buy year, that pair of white Nike’s? If so, how are your shoes holding up? And what’s your secret? Do you feel a lack in that department, or not so much? Love your content as always 💗💗💗
Dear Hannah, you inspired me with your no-buy-year and last week I decided to follow this journey.I'm watching and rewatching your old videos and now I understand your comment, when you said the healing started with stopping to shop. I'm a searcher,a philosopher, psychology is my religion. So I always searched for my shopping-addiction reasons and thought I have to solve them first before stopping to shop. But now I do it the other way. As I also don't allow myself to shop online(just the trial-but still...because it was so much lifetime that I spent there just looking). Also I declutter my apartment. And refocus on other parts of my life and my joys(that I almost forgot about-reading poetry in a café around my corner). The only thing that makes me nervous:I loved to have a shopping trip once a week with my best friend Anne. And now that will be the past until at least the end of 2019. I'm really afraid that I could disappoint her. Which is crazy,I know. Maybe we soon explore our old pleasure-realms like cinema or just chatting in a café. I think I'm not strong enough accompanying her while she's shopping without breaking my no-buy. Hannah,I'm so happy to have found you. You are so inspiring and lovely. Have a nice day.
I'm sure she will understand and if you explain it all to her she will want to support your project! Maybe you can go to the library together, or go to the grocery store and cook a meal together, go on a walk in a beautiful park, etc!
I’m so intrigued about what your big purchase is! Also loving hearing your thoughts on your changing relationship with shopping. Your anxieties seem to have decreased/you’re managing them more effectively which is inspiring to see!
I am so ready for the Hannah designed eyeshadow palette with the shades picky bitch, I don’t care, grungy, editorial, poema, tango, nicer things, etc. lol
I bought the simple micellar water too, however I prefer bioderma, My skin is sensitive and dry and I have rosacea. La Roche Posé and Bioderma works the best for me. I was thinking, well I don't use that much products, so better invest a part of my budget on my skin. My sister in law (a dermatologist) told me that is the best, not using as many things, because that can cause me irritation. So my products are, micellar water, day and night moisturizer, eye makeup remover , a cream for my spots (If I have any) liquid cleanser and sunscreen!
I have mixed feeling on summer ending .... on one hand I’m ready for the Las Vegas dry heat to be over. On the other hand I’m not ready to let go of spring/ summer colors and dewy- illuminated skin. To me winter brings Matt skin looks and deeper blushes. Do you change you’re makeup style by season? Thank you for you’re thoughts I feel so excited when I see you in my feed. Have a beautiful blessed day Hannah 🦄💕
I appreciate what you said about new releases and the die down. However, I use my Marc Jacobs gloss stick every single day. lol I love it still. I wish L'oreal was cruelty free so I could invest in those lipsticks instead of a new Marc Jacobs stick.
I feel you on the heat 😭 I am in graduate school and the semester just started. I have to walk to school about 20-25 min in 109 degree heat 🥵 have given up on makeup for some days entirely until the weather cools down!
I honestly cannot wait to see the new editorial piece, Hannah! :3 I can just imagine--in my mental palace--that and the Clionadh multichromes, and then you'd be ready for the runway! (Even though, in general, I always think you are, period. xD) It's interesting to watch as you shed former behaviors and the level of toxicity any of them brought into your life, in exchange for a middle path ideal. :3 It's honestly beautiful, and I cannot wait to see how your behaviors as well as your life here on UA-cam progress!
By "lay off the metaphors," surely you mean you will "continue to use all of the metaphors" because now I'm picturing a delightful and bizarre caravan of beauty gurus merrily juggling products while some products fall to the wayside as the caravan goes along.
I’m new to your channel and i am so happy I found it. I love the eyeshadow look you showed today. I have completely enjoyed your reckonings. Do you or have you do anything in skin care? You skin is gorgeous.
thanks, Cecelia! The lights help a lot with my skin, in person it just looks like normal skin :) I do have some skincare routine videos on my channel, if you search "skincare" on my channel home page you'll find them! They're from last year but a lot of relevant info is in there. I'll do an update soon
Just so you know I love your little ad breaks you deserve all the AdSense you get and then some I often watch UA-cam while doing other things and now that I know restarting a video only counts as extra time I always make sure to exit and then reclick so it is a new view (tip for viewers who want to help their fave creators)
I had a brilliant idea. I don't know if where some of you live if you can purchase gift cards for money off your gas. I am going to start saving the money I want for things and then buy a gift from the grocery store where I can get money off my gas. Plus you have a set amount on the card. I thought it would be a two for one deal for your money.
I went to look at Clionadh shadows and I honestly went into sticker shock with how expensive they are. I want to support smaller brands more, but I think eyeshadow isn't the place for me to start lol.
I just realised that you are basically a Mughal miniaturist manqué (yes I enjoy alliteration, why do you ask? ;-). These elaborate colour mosaics on the tiny surface area of your eye-that's the essence of miniaturist art. My favourite: Nainsukh's portraits of Balwant Singh. Exquisite.
the ND topcoats crease in kind of a crusty way and can't be smoothed out again, but the Roen ones stay creamy and can easily be tapped out hours later. I'm going to get back into using my ND topcoat so that I can compare more thoroughly soon
Thank you.
thanks Jen!
I agree! We're just here for the journey with you.
Your eyeshadow (and voice) is so pretty, you could be describing tax regulations and I’d still tune in.
aw, thank you so much! rest assured, I will never describe tax regulations, LOL!
It’s a really interesting point of what are the things still really talked about after the frenzy of a launch as died down. Definitely an indicator of the real jewels in the makeup world.
yes! it might even make a good whole video concept :)
Hannah Louise Poston i would love to watch that video
You should pick up a reusable pump bottle for micelar water so you can buy whatever you like or is cheapest at the moment. They're pretty cheap on Amazon or websites or nail tech, art, scientific, or industrial supply websites.
Thats a great idea. I always wonder if its safe for me to reuse the same plastic pump bottle. Ive had it for a few years and just clean it before reusing again
Qosmedix has some great ones, and very affordable!
Watching your videos is like sitting down to read a long, hand-written letter from an old friend. Good feels!
I appreciate that you put up the Ad Break title card. One more demonstration of how much time and effort you put into your channel.
Agreed! It's nice to know and not have out interrupt a sentence. It seems like others don't pay attention to it at all. That's the only time I think it's annoying lol. Mid-sentence, mid-word, then bam, Boxycharm or insurance. Then the other half of the word. 😂
I actually didn't think gurus had any control over when ads happened because they usually just cut in mid sentence.
I love that you are ''less perfect'' in your videos since you did that unedited makeup grwm. Love your channel!
And yeaj I mentioned those Loreal lippies as my fave lipproduct of 2018 and I still reach for them and love them! :D
I'm getting on the glossy lips train with you, finally, LOL!
about time haha ;)
You totally pulled out the Ming Ming from Wonder Pets voice!! Love you SO much!!
Your love for those new shadows has really inspired me to go back and play with my two colourpop super shock shadows and reminded me how much I love them. Your ad breaks are so creative. I think it’s such a great idea!
I love these videos. It’s so interesting to see, and hear about, the things you find beautiful and worthy of your budget. xx
Incredible coincidence ... I smelled this candle scent (same brand) only 5 days ago and my exact though was: oh no, this is a Hannah Louise Poston woody scent, not a foody me scent.
I have never come across this brand before.
Hannah,

Same, I honestly wouldn't notice if Hannah didn't.
Hearing how the Róen shadows helped you appreciate your hooded eyes made me smile so much. 😊💜
Just to let you know, the Clionadh shadow prices your mentioned are in CAD (Canadian dollars) so they are actually a bit cheaper, about 25% less, in USD!

I did the same thing with the Yes To micellar water bottle and have been refilling it for probably over a year and it’s still working well!
I feel you re the weather! I am in Australia where Spring has just started and yet today is one of the coldest days of the year with fog and rain and wind...

I feel you about wanting Summer to end. It's still reaching the near 100's here in South TX and I can't wait to wear my fall and winter clothes.
I don't mind warm weather as a rule but it just seems like it will never change!
Your singing in the beginning sounded like the theme to the Wonderpets show. I used to watch it with my girls who are now teens. I think I might have loved the show more than they did! Lol!
Really looking forward to your extraordinary eyeshadows video!
I love your eyeshadow so much 😻 and I’m so excited to see the top!!
So excited for that eyeshadow swatch video!
Yes! Early autumn feelings
I am also ready for the LA heat to subside
I love those Loreal lipsticks, they're so beautiful, balmy, glossy and everyday. Very into it. The packaging is super chic too. I have 4 which is the most out of any lipstick type that I have. We seem to have different colours in Aus though, which is interesting
I am in Australia too and have looked at them multiple times only to be unable to find a shade I like ... we seem to get different shades and different products here for some unknown reason.
@@jaycreswell7008 it's so odd! I'd love the colours that Hannah has, but they just don't seem to exist here
I also picked up one of those L'oreal shines around mid-summer and it's now helping me pan lip liners!
Autumn YES! I want to wear my wool coat and scarves and let my tan fade and to finally not sweat everything off.
:)
The eye look is poppin, as they say.
Loving your nails and your (as always) excellent content ♡
I'm really looking forward to seeing your eyeshadow video! I'm looking to find a core set of go to shades and I think it will be very helpful!
Thank you for sharing. Does this new way of ‘being’ with your budget allow you more time and creative energy in other life areas and endeavors?
definitely, less time thinking about buying things!
Hannah, am I delusional, or have you only bought ONE pair of shoes since your no buy year, that pair of white Nike’s? If so, how are your shoes holding up? And what’s your secret? Do you feel a lack in that department, or not so much? Love your content as always 💗💗💗
Your nails are EVERYTHING
@@HannahLouisePoston Thank you,Hannah:)
I’m so intrigued about what your big purchase is! Also loving hearing your thoughts on your changing relationship with shopping. Your anxieties seem to have decreased/you’re managing them more effectively which is inspiring to see!
I am so ready for the Hannah designed eyeshadow palette with the shades picky bitch, I don’t care, grungy, editorial, poema, tango, nicer things, etc. lol
Can you use the pump on another micellar bottle?
Would love to know where you get the reusable cotton rounds!
Hi! I got mine from Etsy if that helps
THE WONDERPETS REFERENCE, I SPIT MY COFFEE #ifyouknowyouknow
I was working as a nanny when wonder pets was at its height and I still think its the pinnacle of children's programming
Your makeup
I bought the simple micellar water too, however I prefer bioderma, My skin is sensitive and dry and I have rosacea. La Roche Posé and Bioderma works the best for me. I was thinking, well I don't use that much products, so better invest a part of my budget on my skin. My sister in law (a dermatologist) told me that is the best, not using as many things, because that can cause me irritation. So my products are, micellar water, day and night moisturizer, eye makeup remover , a cream for my spots (If I have any) liquid cleanser and sunscreen!
good to know!
Have a beautiful blessed day Hannah 🦄💕
hmm, great question! I'm not ready to let go of dewy skin either. we'll see what happens :)
I'm on a skincare no buy until (at least) the black friday sales (looking at you, deciem).
I AM SO EXCITED! Okey Angi, calm your tits! okey okey, back to the video... :P
:3 It's honestly beautiful, and I cannot wait to see how your behaviors as well as your life here on UA-cam progress!
thank you so much!
By "lay off the metaphors," surely you mean you will "continue to use all of the metaphors" because now I'm picturing a delightful and bizarre caravan of beauty gurus merrily juggling products while some products fall to the wayside as the caravan goes along.
:)
I love those L´oreal lipsticks they are like a super tinted lip balm. I wish they have more colours.
yes, super tinted exactly!
You are to me the most interesting makeup artist, imo. Im always so inspired!
thanks Mathilde!
Oh my god also freaky outy is that a Home Movies reference, this is the best
YES!!!
Loved it! Intrigued by the lippies!!! The Roen eye shadows are out of range/ comfort zone for me! Thanks!!! :D
The Wonder Pets ohmagosh 😂🤣😂
:)
Exquisite.
how do the roen shadows compare to natasha denona chroma crystal topcoats?
the ND topcoats crease in kind of a crusty way and can't be smoothed out again, but the Roen ones stay creamy and can easily be tapped out hours later. I'm going to get back into using my ND topcoat so that I can compare more thoroughly soon
lovely :)
