Thank you for doing this. Explaining the music and what you like about it helps us all get closer to this music, one of the greatest achievements of mankind
Well done. I enjoy the 'discussion' element of these videos, in depth analysis of harmony, form, melodic content, allied to historical context regarding Bach himself is a fine backdrop to the project. A wonderful achievement. Again well done and thank you for the huge amount of research and sheer hard work you've obviously put into this.
Thank you for this wonderful series. I have learned so much from your insights, discussion points and references between different preludes and fugues, across Bach's oeuvre and with other composers of the period. And I have really enjoyed your series of performances. You have opened up this iconic work for me and made it accessible in a way that I have not encountered before. I know I will now include a selection from it on the long list of pieces I would like to play. Your series will provide a reference point that I am sure I will return to. Heartfelt thanks!
I'm glad I came across this series, which I found entirely by accident on the Clare Hall website. I too have got much pleasure from your project and have benefited from your thoughtful insights into each of the sets, and your helpful illustrations of their relationship with other works by Bach and by other composers. Thank you so much for sharing these insights and great performances. I look forward to doing some revision by viewing them all again!
Actually, I do find this pair quite an apposite ending to the 'cycle', perhaps in an ironic way. Thanks for the series; clever to manage to end it on Easter Day.
I wonder if Bach might not have used that “quotation” here as a second theme, however brief, combining it with his main theme. Wouldn’t surprise me need to look more closely when I’m sober
Lol, I am "self-taught" looked at it and said "wow looks easy! Its only two voices" Ive been on it for two years but its clearly clearly beyond my reach hahaha
Very kind of you to remember me. I am doing fine, but I am quite busy between teaching and concerts, which means that at the moment there is no space in my life to invest time or energy in a youtube channel, which in many ways I regret, but at the same time, after a year without any concerts, the return to public life is very pleasant. Are you well yourself?
@@pianopat Absolutely I can imagine ... was a HORRIBLE time for everybody, but also especially for artists !! Yes I'm doing fine, thanks for asking, anyway I'm glad you are okay :) have fun with teaching & your concerts

Thank you for sharing this project. I got accustomed by now to tuning in every day for another prelude and fugue, I'm going to miss that!

Really enjoyed this series. Would love to have more videos like this for other music that you would like to share your thoughts on.

🤔Sehr interessant!

I'm not a professional musician...
but are there other composers who made 24 (48) preludes and fugues ?
For some reason, the genre has been hacked by Russians in the 20th century, so we have Shostakovich, then Shchedrin, and Kapustin.
@@pianopat I will check them out ty
This prelude looks’ fiendishly difficult to play!
