@@NixCrossing I have a 726 Berkshire and two 2333 F3 diesels, one NYC and one Santa Fe. they run perfectly after 70 years. I can't believe how heavy they are.
New comer to this site.Restoring these old trains is such a pleasurable experience, one that I enjoy whenever the opportunity arrives.Nice job, hope you have a chance to restore again!
Excellent job restoring that old beauty! 🚂👍 It's wonderful to see someone so young having such enthusiasm for preserving and restoring these. Cool to see something out of your new Cricut as well. I've been checking those out since Nikki mentioned them the other night.
Thanks so much! The Cricut is awesome- I have a bunch of ideas for restoring some of the worn off logos on my older engines. Stay tuned I have a bunch of repair videos coming out !
@@NixCrossing sounds good, looking forward to those videos. I was wondering the other day when I do get my track set up what kind of maintenance I should do on my old engines that haven't run in several decades? Glad you like the Cricut already! I have a lot of ideas too for it in combination with the 3D printer I would like to get. I've got to build my room enclosure and benchwork first though, lol!
Fantastic!! If you didn't refinish it...it would be a shelf piece...Not that there is anything wrong with that either....but you got a knack for this Nick!! Great Job!!
Super nice job restoring that 736! I was doing something similar to a 681 and this is motivating me to finally finish it. Also, the camera car shots were killer! 👍
Thsnks so much! If you need help on finishing up your 681, feel free to reach out on our Facebook page. I’d love to help get your trains rolling again.
well done, seems how it was total;y roached from the floods , my moms dead boyfreind would be proud, he restored and collected them racks and racksd of them
Nice job, it looks great. I would have gone with a satin black instead of a gloss. I haven't seen that kind of motor. We'll have to talk about how you did that lettering and the smoke unit.
I know this is an old post but I do agree on satin black. I've found that Krylon Fusion all-in-one paint+primer does a great job on duplicating the original finish. Product #2732 satin black.
Hey Nick do you need tickets just to see 611 tomorrow or can any one go see it by the great job restoring this unit great perspective from the flat car
Restored a Marx 333 with the diecast shell (not nearly as cool as a postwar berk) and it was in 1 fire and 2 basement floods and all I had to do was clean the contact shoe and rewire the e unit plate! Just shows how tough old model trains were
I have a Lionel 4-6-4 # 763E. It was unfortunately dropped on the concrete floor. Cracked up a bit. Who do you know that could put it back together? Please advise. Thanks in advance! SGT Tom
It depends on how bad the cracking is tbh. Sometimes you can glue them back together. There’s also schematics online for all of the hardware. Those are beautiful engines and I hope it can be fixed
i'm thinking of doing a project 2055, your video gave me a lot of insight. question on your method of painting, did you use some kind of specific paint or did you use regular consumer spray can? any primer first? clear coat after?
Thanks so much for watching! I used auto paint purchased at Advanced Auto , satin Black / consumer grade. It was a single coat with no primer. I was worried that the primer would cover up details on the shell. Good luck on the project! 🚂💨
Three floods?! Oh, my goodness! I'm sorry to hear that.
No worries! She’s still running great to this day 🚂💨
You did a great job.
WoW!! What a ride!! I’m dizzy! Enjoyed the video and PLUS your neat sound track!!🤓😎
it’s not a toy it’s a master piece i run and fix lionel trains to
Definitely agree with you on that! 🚂💨 thanks for watching!
You did a great job!
Have fun with it. That's the best way to enjoy it!
Agreed! Thanks so much!
A testament to the strength and durability of old Lionel Trains. You almost can't kill them.
So true! My oldest train turns soon 100, she still runs like new 😄🚂💨

HOLY SMOKES!!! I'M SHOCKED TO SEE THIS RUN AGAIN!!! I have the 726! Both are great steam engines!
It was fun restoring this old beast lol I’d love to find a 726.
@@NixCrossing The 726 is one of my favorite Lionel Steamers.
@@engineerpat5290 I’m always looking for post war stuff 😁
@@NixCrossing Oh yeah! Post war was a good era!
Great video!
Thanks so much!
No problem! I’ve been looking into a 221 gery version and I wanted you to think 155 is a good price to pay for it?
Lionel 221
Post war
It all comes down to condition. I would check a price guide, but for an engine / tender that’s not a bad price.
I think you a great job of restoring that locomotive, Nick I see your labor of love that you did on it. Great job 👍👌.
Thanks so much! Love working on these classic trains 🚂💨
Thankyou

how did you get the bell off?
I think this one had a screw base. If not I might have used a dremell tool to scrape off the rivet

@@NixCrossing much appreciated!
I use liquid smoke in my original 736 smoker and it smokes like a freight train 😊 no but seriously it smokes great .
They run so much better with liquid smoke
@@NixCrossing Yes they do. I'm now debating on swapping to an LED headlight.
BTW, I do have the broken parts!!
The front cow catcher should not be painted.
Why didn't you show the entire process? Just break the video down into multiple videos. I would have like to see the work being done.
Good advice, will do in the future
