- Hey Horse Lovers! OMG Belle is Bagging UP! The FOAL is closer to coming and we are all so excited. Her bag filled up fast overnight and now we have to immediately move her into the foaling area. Watch our process and see how we make the transition into the foaling suite for this QUEEN OF A MARE!
For more back story information in February, I purchased Belle from an auction and well... we discovered she was pregnant about 4 weeks later following a wellness exam and quarantine! We were completely shocked but also very excited. This will be our first foal ever born at Free Spirit Farm. Here is a little background information: Belle is a 7-year-old Dapple Grey, Draft X who is just under 16.2hh. In this video you will get to see more of Belle's daily life at the farm and see how she's developing in her last trimester. We will do some grooming, feeding, and bonding. yeah!. I love the horses you have a specially belle.
Belle is taking it all in her stride, you can tell she has had a foal before, and has such a lovely space to have her foal. I love her impatient pawing when Shae was grooming her and she wanted to be in a paddock. It's a thrilling time waiting for the foal to be almost here and the element of surprise, because you don't know the father and so baby could be any colouring and size. Big hugs to the mama. Come on baby we're all waiting to see you 🥰🐎🤗💞
I've never dealt with a pregnant mare, what is it that you think she's had a foal before?

@@rcg224 The fact she was owned by the Amish, so it is likely Belle has had a foal before and Shae herself has said this. Her demenour seems pretty calm for a mare so close to birth. I have ridden horses for years and my sister had a mare, who she bought like Belle and didn't know she was pregnant, and the former owner said it was her first foal. That mare was more nervous and at this stage nothing like Belle being calm and taking it in her stride, but on her toes and used to whinny a lot more. She lived at a nice livery yard and my sister went every day, but she was more on edge being her first.

I watch a lot of UA-cam channels and I follow Route 66 he says that their teats wax over a couple days before they give birth
I'm glad when you got Belle she was already many months along, because I don't think any of us; including you, could wait the entire gestation period for this foal 😊 can't wait !

Yay! Mare of our close friend aborted her foal and we found out a few weeks ago, watching belles journey has been filling the spot in my heart with mare and foal! Praying everything goes smooth!

We have a horse that is also pregnant right now! Her bags look the same as Miss Belle's but they have stayed looking like that for about two weeks. Some signs you can look for that she is ready to pop is wax on the teats, the baby not moving in her stomach, and the belly hanging really low. Sometimes if they are ready to be in labor that night, they will literally have milk dripping out of their teats. It all depends on the horse though. My guess is that Belle will have her baby in about a week. You are taking such good care of her! I am so excited for you and am praying that Belle's birth goes awesome!!! 💖😊
