Both times this song is used really show the power of music in film, especially the second time. A bunch of teenagers walking down the street drinking, smoking and skating doesn't look like that big of a deal, but with this song it becomes a terrifying, horrible, disgusting image which is exactly what this movie is all about. With a more upbeat song and maybe different camera shots it would've been a very cool, simple scene depicting the euphoria of being a reckless kid with no cares at all, instead it's about the potentially awful consequences of that lifestyle. This movie simultaneously makes being a reckless youth seem like the coolest, and most horrible thing ever which is why it's so beloved and it's message gets across so well, it doesn't seem preachy at all despite it's seriousness.
forget the fact that it's literally based off of real teenagers who essentially play their characters, the reason the dialogue is so unsubtle "I love sex and I love fucking!", "This girl is like a baby, but damn i'm kinda into that" etc is over exaggerated on purpose, in art sometimes the only way to be truly authentic is to be quite over the top.@@livequality4578 If the events and dialogue weren't so on the nose and exaggerated it would just seem like a dull. shallow film where not much happens, which can be great in it's own right but isn't what this movie is going for.
Summer days this song on repeat x1000. Bought this soundtrack back in the day and still listen to it all the time age 49 now.
I used to skate around Detroit to this song on summer days when I lived in the city a couple years back. Good song to skate to.
This song goes so well in the movie.
all my awkwardness, all my insecurities, all my confused thoughts, my alienation as a teenager was so perfectly captured by this song back then

That scene where the skaters are walking down the street to the pool as this plays in the background is iconic to me.

is the music that plays when she takes the ecstasy at the rave?
Yes : (
No, it's when the kids wants to go swimming, walking in the middle of the road
@@viktorbw1743 I always thought that walking scene is iconic
Kids was a stupidly exaggerated movie but Natural One was a great song.
Besides the AIDS subplot it's pretty realistic.
@@timbuktu777 It was realistic like Warriors was realistic.
