After working with special needs kids for over 25 years in the UK I've seen so many miss out because what they needs isn't available, these two women are stars in my opinion and I am so glad they got two sharks on this one.
I work in the Early Intervention field as a Service Coordinator. I've never shed tears over a Shark Tank episode, but this is close to my heart. I know all too well the limitations on finding a quality daycare for children with special needs. Good on you for getting the partnership. I'll be praying for you, your children, and the many families you will serve. ❤️
Yes ma'am. My best friend was a Navy wife and had no help, until her boys were old enough to go to school. Fortunately, her school district had a good special needs program. 😀 Now they are back home and have all of us and more options. Their lives would have been so much easier if they had something like this available.
As a Mom with a Special Needs Son they would definitely have my business. I have been discriminated against by daycare places because they didn’t want to bother. It broke my heart and the owner had a disability of her own.
I am in the US and I have a special needs son. I have had similar experiences as you. It’s not just how our families are discriminated against, but it’s the horrible things said and behaviors of these businesses that don’t want us. At least where I am, you can expect pay 2x or 3x as much if you can find child care. It should be criminal how CHILDREN are being treated, I’m glad people like these women are doing what they are. We were never able to find a daycare business that would accept us or one I felt wouldn’t mistreat my son, we ended up finding a private babysitter instead.
I highly doubt it's that people don't "want to bother". When it comes to disabled children you need a lot more credentials than just CPR. It costs a lot more to pay someone. The daycare basically needs 1 adult for just your child.... Have you looked at how little profit is in daycare? On top of them basically having to give up half their pay to care for your child, if not more. Having a special needs child would require at least 2k to get a proper contract drawn up to avoid a lawsuit, by you, after you choose to leave your child in a day care that isn't a 1-1 ratio. I'm not saying this to be mean, but with medical tech, it was 100% your decision to take on the care of a person with a disability. You can't be mad that a world isn't bending to accommodate a small chunk of people & taking on the cost to do so. If you can't afford to take your child to a baby sitter that specializes in it, what makes you think a small day care can do that & cover all the costs to legally protect themselves when you choose to leave your child in a typical 3-1 daycare & your child who doesn't comprehend does something like smash a window & cut themselves? Or you decide they don't get enough attention knowing there's 4 caregivers per child & try to suit them for not delivering service? I know it's hard... But deciding it's the responsibility of other people to take on the cost & redesign their business is silly.
I'm not sure what state you live in but we in the Austin Texas area have a place called WBCO. They have a program called Headstart. Now this program is used by children without disabilities however they take children with disabilities before without. Yes they do fill their spot's but first for children with needs. Both my boy's had disabilities however they was not physical needs they was mental health needs. And yes my children was difficult. But they was so great for my boy's. By the time my boy's got to K they wanted to bump them up to 2nd grade I said NO. The only reason they was ahead was because this place taught my boy's instead of babysitting them. By the time they got to 2nd grade they was on level. This program cost me nothing. Both my boy's did it for free and it allowed me to work to pay our bills.... While knowing that my boy's was safe and in great hands. I am not sure if they have something like this by you but it's worth looking into.
It comes down to money / staffing. I am a parent of a special needs child and understand where these other parents are coming from. The ratio of staff to kids had to be a lot higher with special.needs kids depending on their specific needs / disabilities. There are also other considerations; activities designed for them by someone who knows what they are doing, more safety considerations generally. . This all means more cost for the business so they either have to charge a lot more or not accept kids that require more attention. We've recently found a program for holidays and after school that is close to home and govt funded So very affordable. I am in Victoria, Australia

My daughter attends a similar service in NSW, its incredible the learnings and inclusive awareness your child can get here. I truly hope this continues into schools
Many, many years ago my former business partner & I donated money & our time to a similar type of business. We just wanted to help out someone or something in need from our abundance. At the time they were going broke & it was due to some honest business model mistakes - their vision was great & clear. Once we started & discovered where we could help, we went all in & donated a considerable amount of money & our expertise to help them sail on a straighter course. Our goal was simple, use our gifts so to speak & remain completely out of any limelight, just help. Years later we handed the reins to someone else who took the ball & helped do great things. I has since essentially forgot about it since it as I hadn’t been involved in years then, I ran into one of the founders who profusely thanked me (the both of us) which blew me away. Point being, when you plant seeds, water & see the first crops bear fruit, you have no idea how much fruit gets produced from those initial seeds. In other words, do something worthwhile & never look at it as to what you can tangibly get from it because then it ceases to have real value.
Omg this has to be my favorite one!! They are doing such amazing things for their children and now they can help other children as well. Warms my heart 💕💕💕
13:14 - "This is not an investment that should be fought in the shark tank." Translation: Hey Steve let's go halves so we don't undercut each other and give them more equity for themselves.
In my teens I volunteered taking care of disabled children mainly aged between 12-17, taking them on day trips to the zoo, etc. We would even go camping once a year for a week or so, it was so much fun. They make you a better person, they make you look at the world in a brighter light, you end up living life in a mentally healthier way, and they were so much fun, they were not just kids I looked after, but my friends. I would have continued for decades but unfortunately I had my own major health problems and it has added to the already different outlook on life... and death, I had, in yet a different way. You never stop learning, and there is no where else I could have learnt what I learnt with those kids anywhere else. They are a blessing in disguise, a gift.
while this video is quite heartwarming, that's exactly what I was thinking. Or if it's not done by (hopefully) well-funded NGOs, it should be provided by the public sector. It gives me strong late-capitalism vibes that people would have to pay 50 dollars a day just so they can send their special-needs child to nursery school. These parents should have the same easy access to childcare services as parents who were lucky enough to have healthy children.
This episode moved me. I loved the passion from the moms, heart from the sharks. I watched Steve’s offer, subsequent discussion and John wanting to pair up like 10 times and cried every time. Good luck ladies. Make those kids’ life great. I am already searching google for Humming Birds and see if there is way to contribute. My heart is with you. From US.

My sister is disabled, and I grew up taking care of disabled children throughout my life. I couldn’t last not one minute without crying knowing how much this means to me the fact that there are great people out there. I appreciate you for accepting them. It’s impacting the world in a much higher dynamic than you’ll expect.
As a male who worked in childcare where we had special needs kids this is a godsend and there definitely needs to be more ppl being proactive when it comes to little kids with needs. This is definitely the best tank episode I have ever seen.... great work guys. And to all parents of special needs children please know that there are people out there who are trying to help. God bless you all
If they were investing in that kind of business, they need to consider not only the tangible return but also the intangible one. Do you ever have a feeling of "really great" after doing something good for the others? that's priceless!
This is the most amazing pitch of all of SHARK TANK AUSTRALIA. You had me in tears and in joy both by the end. Steve and John, God bless you guys for just being superb human beings and for once doing it more from your heart than just the balance sheet. You shall reap the blessings always. Amen. Good luck Rebecca and Leah - God bless you both and all those tiny tots :)
I am impressed with everyone of the sharks. They all seem qenuinely desirous to help others as well as themselves succeed. These two men show tremendous heart!! Thank you!!!
Without them realising it, these 2 men just set themselves up for many amazing blessings directly from God in other areas of their lives. When U help the broken & needy, God pours out His blessings in unexpected ways that ppl dont realise is because theyve partnered with God's heart & put action to it !!!
The ladies know exactly what these kids need from direct experience. They will be able to create a good model that will help to expand this much needed service in their community and beyond 🙏💕
As a father with a child with special needs I can say it's exhausting But I love my son With all my heart And I just wish there was something like this Where I am When he was young
I really hope they’ll be able to expand. There’s so much need out there, and it’s a win-win for parents and children. The kids’ benefits are obvious, and the parents have not only the peace and confidence that their child is being actively engaged, but they get a respite from their normally 24/7, 365 job as a career for a special needs child. I don’t think they’d be able to take on children with behavioral difficulties, though, as that usually requires a one-on-one situation.
Omg, this made me cry in the best way possible. Cheers for the kids and families who will utilize this services, BUT BRAVO the the sharks that stood up!!!
I'm so blown away with happiness after 2 SHARKS took on with Leah & Rebeca. I know this came on UA-cam a very long time ago, but still thinking of these two wonderful young ladies, well done. 💝💝💝💝
This is brillant. As a mum to special needs kiddos I know how hard it is to find care that treats our kids like children that understand things and have feelings even if they can't verbalize them.
This was so wonderful....and also hard to watch. Our 9 year old special needs daughter passed away in August of 2014.....and I can't tell you what it does to my heart to see this.
When offers like this come in shark tank, it's difficult for the sharks to refuse. Firstly because they don't wanna seem rude or heartless. Secondly because their 'business mind' conflicts with their emotional side
Maybe they just have a good social conscience. Also, they're all incredibly financially successful so it's not like they're risking everything to do something really good and desperately needed for kids with special needs. They're all parents so of course it's pulling at their heart strings. Not everyone is as cynical as you.

A very emotional pitch and hats off to the two guys who made a deal
They m put me to tears those mums are just the greatest heroes of all times💖
13:14 - "This is not an investment that should be fought in the shark tank."
Translation: Hey Steve let's go halves so we don't undercut each other and give them more equity for themselves.
I think these types of education services should be more of NGOs rather than a business.
while this video is quite heartwarming, that's exactly what I was thinking.
Tears watching this. God bless you all for loving and wanting to help the children.
From US.
Since the Sharks involvement it's renamed Ruby and Ollies it's mentioned in a previous comment with a link, I checked it out 👍🙏🕊️

Being a parent of 'special' child is no joke. its 24/7 job. If I had that sort of money, I would have given it to them.
I hope they are doing well. Such an emotional episode. This will be my favorite one ever.
Helping kids in need really doesn't have a price! This two ladies are making the world a better place!🙏
My sister is disabled, and I grew up taking care of disabled children throughout my life. I couldn’t last not one minute without crying knowing how much this means to me the fact that there are great people out there. I appreciate you for accepting them. It’s impacting the world in a much higher dynamic than you’ll expect.
Rewatched this over and over ...such a good episode
Ladies of Shark Tank... you are out? Well done, Steve and John for stepping up. 👏
goes from heartfelt music to intense music. Shark tank never fails.
God bless you all
Finally you made me cry 😢 GOD BLESS ALL.
I have a disabled child with renal kidney issues i cried alot i noo how hard it is to look after these wonderful children
These 2 incredible women give me hope for humanity!!!
They wanted 80K for 20% (1:11) but the recap at 10:05 they said 15% for 80K
If they were investing in that kind of business, they need to consider not only the tangible return but also the intangible one. Do you ever have a feeling of "really great" after doing something good for the others? that's priceless!
Exactly. What is hummingbird of all the business they have shares with.
This and the cutboard pro episode (from US Shark tank) make me cry every single time.
Shark Tank Australia is definitely the best. Love these Sharks and their diverse personality. Great episode. I’m not crying.
Steve is literally the definition of Aussie.
I am impressed with everyone of the sharks. They all seem qenuinely desirous to help others as well as themselves succeed. These two men show tremendous heart!! Thank you!!!
Such an amazing story! I hope these women and their business is thriving!
We have a very special young lady with needs within my family....I know what it takes to cater for her...Well done and stay blessed😭
Without them realising it, these 2 men just set themselves up for many amazing blessings directly from God in other areas of their lives. When U help the broken & needy, God pours out His blessings in unexpected ways that ppl dont realise is because theyve partnered with God's heart & put action to it !!!
Lol wtf
Stop. Just stop
are you calling disabled children broken? wtf.
@@thesnowleopard8e135 “broken & needy”
@@thesnowleopard8e135 yes he did...
Out of everyone I've ever watched that hasn't been just for a laugh this is by far my favorite.
Janine pisses me off just with that starting fake smile. Already thinking if she will be able to get more than 50% of the company
HMHMMHMH money money moni
She might think "I'm sososo smart, for that reason Im out" already with a fake smile before even speech.
Amazing! God Bless these 2 ladies.
Cheers to the 2 sharks
All the Best from the Great White North 🇨🇦
Amazing ladies. Hope it’s a roaring success. God bless
Tear jerker! So sweet to see those 2 men so loving and caring.
Myka Stauffer could learn so much from this 2 wonderful women.
She could, but she wouldn't.
I'm so blown away with happiness after 2 SHARKS took on with Leah & Rebeca. I know this came on UA-cam a very long time ago, but still thinking of these two wonderful young ladies, well done. 💝💝💝💝
Oh come-on every shark should give them this money for charity
They’re all crying by the end of this and it warms my ♥️
The guy selling dry balls to put in morning smoothies, his business was also named hummingbirds
God Bless these 2 very Special Mom's!
11:25 "Steve made an offer, so I'm out."
lol
I hope they do amazing things in the future for all those families out there
this made me cry...good on you girls, go get your vision for the kids :)
hummingbirds 100% beautiful business :D
I never cried because of this kind of things, but this touch my heart and made me cry
for those hoping they were successful. It is called Ruby and Ollie's now and are still open :)
Fantastic 👍, thanks for your update, cheers. 😊
This is brillant. As a mum to special needs kiddos I know how hard it is to find care that treats our kids like children that understand things and have feelings even if they can't verbalize them.
This is one of my favorite episode ever.... ✊🇿🇦
Awww. I've worked with these children. They're lovely little souls.
One of the most natural and passionate pitches I've seen without the cheesy gimmicks. Shame on the 3 sharks who went out for silly reasons.
This was so wonderful....and also hard to watch. Our 9 year old special needs daughter passed away in August of 2014.....and I can't tell you what it does to my heart to see this.
I'm sorry for your loss 😭😢💐
If I took a shot for every episode of Shark Tank where someone said the word "journey," my liver would make a run for it.
The men stood up and were counted! well done! Kudos to the Leah and Rebecca! such big hearts!
"I was in and for that reason I am out" Jenny
First one of these that I was crying my eyes out. These women are super heroes
When offers like this come in shark tank, it's difficult for the sharks to refuse.
Firstly because they don't wanna seem rude or heartless.
Secondly because their 'business mind' conflicts with their emotional side
Imo thats kinda messed up and manipulative, but money is money👌
this is why they wont do a charity version.
Maybe they just have a good social conscience. Also, they're all incredibly financially successful so it's not like they're risking everything to do something really good and desperately needed for kids with special needs. They're all parents so of course it's pulling at their heart strings. Not everyone is as cynical as you.
Elena Williams I don’t think it’s cynical I think it’s just honest like he doesn’t mean to be rude or anything
Idk they can act emotional all they want but if the buisness can't turn a profit then perhaps it's not a investment worth making in a "buisness"
