On July 2, 1963 Juan Marichal of the SF Giants pitched 16 shutout innings (and 227 pitches) against Warren Spahn of the Milwaukee Braves (who threw 15 1/3 innings and 201 pitches). Giants won it in the bottom of the 16th on a home run by Willie Mays.
@@choiyatlam2552 and in fairness the Cain as well, although not as high profile as the others obviously, and Cain has this funny stat where he took I think 6 or 7 no hitters/perfectos past the 5th inning in his career. Out of those he only won 2, the perfect game and a complete game shut out where he gave up one double lol. The other games he go no-decisions or lost
I was watching this while it kind of randomly occurred to me…. This has to be one of the best kind of games to win as a player. I mean really though, can you imagine the amount of joy/relief to finally see a run cross the plate after all that hard work and the pent up frustration of not scoring through 10 innings? Then again on the other side it’s gotta be the worst kind of disappointment like all that great pitching and defense for nothing 😒
Ground balls, pop-ups, an absolute clinic on getting soft contact by two starters in their primes. You don't have to strike everybody out, kids.
1:00 that voice crack tho

This is how all condensed games should be
Could you imagine as a pitcher going 8 or 9 innings and getting a no decision
Lincoln Mark imagine 10 innings of shutout baseball?
Yes, and it's called the Degrom (previous known as the Felix).
