Time Management : A.Don't try to cover every same thing in quicker time. B.Making every single counts. 1st half: C. Data gathering: Don't ask every question. Eg: Taking Hx for PMH of Heart attack and Stroke Hx & Drug in pts with Elbow pain is irrelevant. Maximizing question on high values questions. 2nd Half: (Mx) First minute/90 second:Golden minute. Manage situation than Managing condition.
Dr Arora, thank you for the tip. I have one question though: I am quite familiar with the idea of outlining the management plan without diving into details (as you mentioned, some patients require years of management and follow-ups and it is impossible to fit everything into 8 minutes) but don't the PLAB 2 examiners have a check-list where they have to tick the boxes? For instance, if the box says "explain lifestyle modifications" and all I do is just touch on it (e.g. "we will be talking about certain lifestyle modifications that are required to decrease the risk of further complications, as well as medications we will be prescribing to you...), doesn't that mean I might not receive a single point for it as i haven't really elaborated on the topic? Thanks!

👍
Manage the situation better than manage the condition, show the overall picture at the beginning, good tip. 👍🏻

When I say ( I will check your vitals), should I sort them and say your blood pressure, pluse, o2 level, temperature?
Thank you!
Thank you! 🙏
So in case of elbow pain with all those diagnoses in the past medical history, we ignore the PMH altogether? Or say one line about it and leave?
It depends how relevant it is to the presentations. If no link to the elbow at all then I wouldn’t mention it just for the sake of it 🙏
Thank you! 👌
