    So there was a +20foot selenicereus grandi that was taken down for construction and I went and collected up some cuttings. They are scabbed at both ends and I don’t think they were cut at nodes…will it still grow if potted up using this method? Thank you.

    • @desertplantsofavalon
      @desertplantsofavalon  8 днів тому +1

      Hi Angela :-D yes the good news is the cuttings will still grow if they were not cut at nodes, if you lay the cuttings down on their sides they will still root from any of the areoles ( where the spines come from ) and new growth will grow from the top of the side of the cuttings, happy propagating and thanks so much for watching and for your wonderful comment, wishing you a fantastic plant powered weekend XXXX

    I assume these are just their starter pots? I’m getting some cuttings off eBay of this plant and I’m looking to see how to best pot it so it looks nice. Do they trail down or climb up? I saw someone had them growing up a tree! I can’t do that but I want it to look pretty and be happy. What’s a good “final potting” to use more permanent than a nursery pot?

    • @desertplantsofavalon
      @desertplantsofavalon  5 років тому +1

      Hi :-D yes these cuttings are growing really well now and they are trailing plants by nature and like to grow supported with a trellis if you have the room to support them growing up a trellis they love this :-D if not then the best thing to do is to keep them as close to a south facing window as possible so they get as much light and sunshine as is available :-D they can trail down too if you have the space to let them grow along the ground as long as they have a sunny position :-D thank you so much for watching and sending you an abundance of love and happiness and PLANT POWER from across the Emerald Isle for a wonderful new week ahead XXXXX

    I was wondering at what age do these start (or possibly start) to bloom? I have some (i think) in my home that are about 2 years old...
    Also how do i determine if mine are actually this species? they look a lot like them and I bought them with that name, but I am starting to doubt if they are since they are supposedly very rare...

      OMG I know the flowers are meant to be out of this world with their size and beauty :-) I am not sure about the fruit although I know it is edible to eat and I wonder if it tastes a bit like a dragon fruit haha :-))) thanks so much for your wonderful comment and for watching :-) and sending you lots of love and heaps of happiness and plant power from right across the Emerald Isle and have a amazing weekend XXXX

      The only dragon fruit i tasted was smth creamy smth coconut like, with a kiwi texture.
      Was not sweet or sour , so it was not smth that costs a lot of money.
      Could be because unripe or unfresh because the green bits on the peel were dry.
      Would like it selenicereus were sour though.

      This was my question. I also love strange and unusually plant babies. My mother in law sent me a cutting from her “queen of the night) I cannot wait until it blooms.
