A young fellow who knows what he has to do, does it, despite the troubles, and does it in stride. Not many like him anymore. I can say I’m very proud of this young man and any others like him. Kudos Luke. Keep up your integrity and harm work. Good things come to good people.
Great video. Brings back some memories - when I was 8, my family and I lived on a boat for 2 years or so, some of that time in the Bay. I had a small berth and an old crate to hold my belongings. That was it. I'd lay there at night listening to the water against the hull just like you were describing those ice sounds. I'm sure I'm forgetting some miserable cold nights but those were some of the best times.
Brings back memories of when I used to live on a 28' boat for half a decade. It was pretty interesting for the most part and if I ever had to, I'd do it again. Little limited as far as amenities went for a while but it was pretty decent living. On really windy nights, I would get tossed around in the bow and listen to the ropes straining Miss ya, Dulcinea.
Always glad to see a guy so thankful for what he has. To re phrase an old Japanese proverb, "A man can spend his entire life searching for the perfect crab, and it would not be a life spent in vain."
Luke, crabbing and freezing aside, you indeed are very blessed to do what you do and have the support of a wonderful woman. In this day and age of such crazy antics in relationships, it is clear what a great couple you guys make. I'm going on 38 years my friend, and I wish you all the best!
I'm glad I caught one of you shorts about 4 months ago, this channel gives me the feeling of " it's gonna be alright" the way you make things work that should NEVER work is amazing, keep posting and god bless
Luke you always think you are not much for your wife. You are so much more than you think. You are so hard working. Committed to being a great crabber and great husband. We all watch you because it's so nice to see someone that is such a great person.
Had a houseboat for about 11 years. When i bought it it wasn't ever pulled from the Monongahela river in years and i stayed overnight in it the first winter! Cold ASF! But after seeing what that boat endured from the spring floods i pulled it for the winter after the first and dry stacked it. Peace of mind! Love this guys channel.. 💯🔥
You should order up some Chinese diesel heaters. They're $100 bucks and you can tap them into the boats diesel tanks and customize the location. They're only 12v to power the fans inside them and you can run them on a trickle charged battery.
Love your content. I am a general manager at a golf course in NC. I showed some coworkers your videos and we got a great laugh at your humor. Your "creatasketchy" ways had us all smiling. Keep up the great work!

Luke your wife truly love you. I took my wife up to the Sassafras in Oct of 2020 during Covid for a end of the season trip.( spent a lot of time on the boat during covid) It got down into the 40's both nights and she was ready to go home and my boat has a reverse heater. I just gave you a follow. Great video.🙃🙃🙃
The boat has to be ready because...the crabs never sleep...IDK maybe they do but this is why MD is called America in miniature, From the temperate rainforest to the blistering cold, we got it all! Wish I was there man, reminds me of the winter dad drove us out onto the Severn in the old VW Beattle. 2' of ice and we drove across to Herlad harbor and up the boat ramp.
Luke, if everyone had your attitude, work ethic, humor and a hundred other positive character descriptives too long to list, this world would be a far better place.
Greetings from Alaska. Just started checking out your YT content. Great job and good job on keeping the boats afloat. I admire the ambition and work ethic. Nice to see someone else who started in their teens too snd just keep sending it. I don’t do the commercial fishing thing but can relate. I run a construction company and have rentals and such. Never fails the worse the weather the busier I am either taking care of my own places or doing damage control on my clients homes. It was -10 here this week and I was shoveling my roofs to keep them from ice damming and or collapsing. Sometimes you just got to embrace the suck and keep going. Cheers to 2024
add a canopy to the back and cover it in solar panels and maybe a wind turbine. build a few battery cells and mount all the components. that boat can handle a system large enough to keep you fully powered a long time. maybe indefinitely. it will keep the heaters running in winter, and a perfect sized A/C for summer
I love how in some parts of the country 60 degrees is “not bad” when I’m literally in my cabin looking at the temp on the wall show 54 and giggle a little. Norms for people just a state over could be drastic. Just a funny observation. Love your content!
With good wishes and luck, you won't have to boat camp again this year. But if you do, a large sheet of cardboard over the he hatchway will help keep the heat nearer to you. But stretching a tarp over the cover and tying it off to the gunnals and stern will provide a little extra space. However, if you're really adventurous and risk taking. A camp propane tent heater is your friend. Just make sure you have extra one pound propane bottles or a connection hose to hook it to a standard gas grill bottle.

Luke, the cheap Chinese diesel heaters can be had for around $80 each. They could be plumbed to your diesel tank, exhaust is easy, and they are 12v DC. You could put it in the bilge and set the thermostat to 32 or so and problem solved. As a bonus, you could also heat the cabin and wheelhouse using the remote control and some additional dryer hose venting. Have fun... Joe

I would consider installing a couple diesel heaters. A fairly lowcost way of heating up both the engine bay and underhatch areas and the pilot house and cabin. Might also come in handy if you go for a winter season catch. They are pretty easy on 12V power and fuel also put out way more heat then a space heater. I live off grid in Arizona and use one for heating myself. As someone that has had boats I am reminded of the old saying " a boat is a big hole in the water you throw money into'"! Good for you if you can figure out how to pull that money and more back out of the water! Living independently and making your own living is an awesum thing!
That has to be a baby Mal. Mine is 14 and a half years old now. Still going strong and has been the biggest blessing of my life and sacrifice I should add. Her hips and back legs have lost power but she is still young at heart. 99 % deaf as will but vision is excellent still. Enjoy!
If you get a extended run tank for that generator which is six gallons that will give you 60 hours of run time. Thats the setup i use with a Black& Decker 8000btu heat and ac unit in my semi truck. Works great and cheap.
I stayed on my boat for most of hurricane sandy! The marina i was in at the time in New Jersey had a big wishbone style trailer on land behind my boat slip. I left around 11-12 to a rising tide to head home to the wife. The next morning i went to the marina thinking my boat was gone looking at the destruction at other marinas! Luckily the trailer collected three boats that would have floated and probably would have swamped mine!! I was so lucky to sustain no damage!!!!

Just a thought, me personally, I’d keep the WEBO the same way it is, add some canvas around the deck canopy and a hot tent stove for the cabin and the deck. Kinda making more like a RV rather than a work boat.. make some great Chesapeake Bay weekend camping trip videos, make some “catch clean cook videos, rafting up at Conquest Beach, the spring fishing for Rock.. stuff like that would be awesome videos..
