Catherine The Great will be a perfect and wise Queen. 👑 One time when the public came to see the Royals in the street, a little girl asked Catherine if she is a Princess. I have not seen the BBC story yet, but am so glad to know the positive, true facts from not only a relative, but an eye witness to the personality and mannerisms of the principals involved: Lady Colin. It is wonderful to be able to share your historical knowledge in this format. Thankyou.
Lady C, I'm 76 & my Family was connected to the Marchioness of Blandford, so I remember the scurrilous gossip about the Dutchess of Argyle. She was said to be a Nymphomaniac. Of course, a coterie of Homosexual Men could NEVER have been made Public ! Purple Hearts were Amphetamine tablets. Very common at the time
That's so interesting you could see everything unravel at the time. As for the purple hearts -- I thought they were Drinamyl (Dexamyl in American English): en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dexamyl? Were they also Amphetamines too?
I had thought that as this was a ‘ real life’ story the BBC could not ‘re- write this historical drama’. How wrong it seems was I. With one very long , cool and truthful breath you have shattered the BBC’s make- believe Woke world ! Well done M’ Lady and thank you for your first - hand experience of such complicated characters in an aristocratic context that few people understand.
Hello Lady C. As soon as I received a flash that you had uploaded, I immediately pressed to view. However, before I know what you are going to say, I wanted to express my view on the programme. I felt so sorry for the Duchess because I thought the Duke was very unpleasant, to put it mildly. From what I have read, she was very beautiful but I felt he really only wanted her for her father’s money. You will obviously know more than I and maybe the BBC got it wrong but that is the way it came across to me. Thank you for all your contributions particularly regarding Harry and Nutmeg. You are the only one I really believe because I know you have special contacts. Please stay with us.
I’m so peeved that we can’t watch this BBC production of A Very British Scandal in the USA. I wonder if or where we can stream it to view it. Lady C, you must truly be a loyal friend to Margaret, Duchess of Argyle. I really admire your righteousness!
My Dear Lady C. How elegant you interpreted The true events of “A Very British Scandal “. I found watching the show on UA-cam in USA. That the Duke was only after the money from his wife’s then once that had dried up. Or before he had moved on to another woman. He was a CAD. He treated women horrible. He used his title to defame them anyway he could. I throughly enjoyed listening to you today. Bless You Dear Lady C. Love your chats always.❤️❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏
I DO hope you are asked formally to review this series. I am appalled by the inaccuracies which distort the story outrageously. Thank you for setting the record straight.
This is a wonderful New Year's gift to us! No one delineates Klassy vs class like YOU do Lady C! I adore these corrections of the clumsy b- level shows! Brilliant! I am American and your age exactly and so appreciate you sharing these details, insights and nuggets of wisdom! There is little depth or humour in current "Gossip" movies, but you truly share information that is correct and educational...and best of all, fun!
Lady C, it often drives me crazy when the television people try to represent/portray British Aristocracy. They haven't a clue. Modern faces, deportment or lack of, poor vowels and articulation.... I am sad that the BBC didn't ask for your input; simply ridiculous. ⚘
Dear Lady C, I had no knowledge of Margaret . However, 25 years ago, one of my children (who played in a pipe band) came home and told me that the Clan Campbell are despised by all other! I thought this rather amusing, considering we were in a different hemisphere from Scotland and my child in fact was friendly with a Campbell family. It was only much later that I came across you and through you this tv series. I knew immediately that this was mostly rubbish and the usual twisted tale I have come to expect from our "media" Thank you for your insights and for confirming what I had read between the lines.
There is a series here on UA-cam about various Scottish clans. Two of them I remember well. One was the Fraser clan. I believe it was the Highland Frasers who have historically been known as superb fighting men, and the Queen's favorites in this regard. The other clan whose story stuck out was the Campbells. I've known a Campbell or two, and settled in to hear some heartwarming tale of all their good deeds. HA! More fool me! The Campbells have long, long, loooong been known as the worst of scoundrels. Lady C has given those Campbells elegance and dignity they do not deserve. I've got to find that series and give it another watch, and I warmly recommend it to one and all. Just wish I remembered the title.
The Scottish side of my family are Campbells. I'm not proud of it. They turned against their fellow Scots to act on behalf of the English in oppressing and repressing them, especially in the 1600s and 1700s. The Campbells pretty much stopped at nothing in treachery. I'm an American, so I only found out about this as a teenager. I was crushed.
@@edennis8578 The Campbells as you are probably aware committed a massacre of the MacDonald men, women and children in GlenCoe. It is a heartbreaking story and after hearing it, it is hard to think of Campbells in a good way, although I am sure there are many good members of the clan. There is a moving song about this tragedy on YT, it is by the wonderful Corries, called ‘The Massacre of Glencoe’.
why do they keep saying Archie is in school he is only 2 preschool doesn't start till a child is 3 the only thing they have for age 2 is daycare for parents who work and the only thing going on at daycare is naps play and lunch and with snack time they really don't learn anything but to share toys and potty training when the child is ready for it

I thought it terribly sad to see Lady Margaret Argyle treated so apaulingy. One rule for men especially the elite, another for women. I question this, has anything changed over the decades?
It is a joy to behold your command of the language, your perfect diction and enunciation and your ability to shine a light on the truth and go straight to the crux of the matter. I find myself riveted to your videos and learn so much each time. I have seen several 'docu-dramas' about royalty and find them trite, shoddily written and badly produced. I have not seen this particular one but from your description I see that it conforms to their usual low standards. I was not overly impressed with Helen Mirren's 'The Queen' either-- some of the dialogue was straight out of the worst biographies and actually made me cringe because the lines were so shopworn. As a Canadian, I don't always have access to BBC productions but after watching many of your videos, I now feel comforted because clearly I am not missing much. Thanks Lady C!

Dear Lady C, thank you for your amazing history lessons! You are like an encyclopedia! I love to listen to your information, and, to find out what really happened! I wish you would publish a book on how one's titles should be written, spoken, etc. It is hard to find correct information anywhere! Also, it amazes me the BBC did not know the difference between a Duchy and a Dukedom. It is simply incredible how much information you have stored in your head, and, therefore at your fingertips, so to speak. However, the BBC cannot even pay someone to ensure the titles, references to titles and the like, are correct. Downtown Abbey (the show) had its own historian and royal etiquette expert, and, the costumer and set decorators even sourced period pieces, clothing, etc., and, when none was available, had buttons fabricated to match those which would have been worn on the clothing of the day. One would think the BBC would take a page out of Julian Fellowes book, especially since there was one published with that very information! (The World of Downton Abbey by Jessica Fellowes, the niece of Lord Fellowes.) Please keep giving us historical and other other information, Lady C! You are a treasure, and, I look forward to your vlogs! Much love to you and Mickey. May God grant you a happy and healthy New Year!
@@lepolhart3242 Actually, the costumes and set were exceptionally well-researched and replicated for filming. The etiquette coach was also a movement and speech coach, as well. There is an entire special outlining his work. It has aired on PBS many times.
@@gigiray7413 that's all they did get right. It doesn't take an einstein to work out. For example the servants are always spotlessly clean from the scullery maid to the cook. The reality was some servants would have been filfthy from their job as they worked extremely hard. They had very little free time working 18 hour days. They were not allowed to have casual conversations with their employers as they only spoke when spoken to. It's all written down in etiquette books at the time. They were expected to give their employers "room" if they were going about their duties and a member of the family seen them in a corridor. The servant would hide behind a curtain or door or they would have to face the wall and pretend they weren't there. When Anna the house maid gives an opinion to Lady Mary in one episode it could have gotten her fired in reality as it wasn't allowed. There are many stories of employers treating servants badly but the servants couldn't do much about it. History has been whitewashed. Some employers were better than others and that's it.

Catherine The Great will be a perfect and wise Queen. 👑
One time when the public came to see the Royals in the street, a little girl asked Catherine if she is a Princess. Catherine replied to the little girl "Are you a Princess? You look like one in your little pink coat".
Contrast that exchange with Migraine asking three year old Princess Charlotte "you're porky aren't you?"
I think having the Middleton grandparents help show the grandchildren the " normal" side of life, will also go a long way to keep them grounded.
At 78, I often wonder what future history will look like when all of us who were there are gone. Thank you so much for your integrity and sharing. Lovely.
Just heard on TV that Meghan had moved to Montecito AFTER knowing her earlier husband was living there with his wife.
You can trust Neil Sean too!
@@lisap9936 Allegedly.
@@ArntyouAKAValerieNosey 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣👍. I’m growing quite fond of that silly little word.....allegedly! What happened to IMHO?
Not just "special contacts" but integrity... something sorely lacking these days.

Ooh, another beautiful room! I love the warm yellow and soft white. As always, Lady C looks lovely, and Micky is adorable!

Oh honey, you been 'missing out'!! LOL My son says that 'klassy' has been used for the last DECADE. Lord help us all LOL
Dear Lady C, Please write another fabulous book about 'The Argylls, The Real Story'!!!
Lady C, it often drives me crazy when the television people try to represent/portray British Aristocracy. They haven't a clue. Modern faces, deportment or lack of, poor vowels and articulation.... I am sad that the BBC didn't ask for your input; simply ridiculous. ⚘
XXXX
She sounds like a very honourable lady.
You are absolutely correct. As a Robertson/Jardine I can confirm that the phrase "Never trust a Campbell" is well known.
Am so glad you are able to sort out Margarets situation with veracity.
Good morning Lady C from Toronto Canada!!!!!!!!!!!! Love your videos! Keep educating us and speaking the truth. Peace!!!!!

Love it, love it, love it and a welcome break from the Duo. A fast disappearing world and a pleasure to listen to facts and not acceptable fiction. Thank you.
Well well as you are fond of saying:"You couldn't make it up." What a tale the real story is, thank you for sharing it.
Lady C thank you for this wonderful video. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to you explain the truth of what went on. My goodness, it seems quite complicated and you did well narrating the story. Keep these coming to all of us please as they bring the past to life. I never expected BBC to get it right, they have a very poor track record of presenting the truth! 💚🧚
I love the room you are in! Thank you for sitting in a new place!!! I am spoiled and you indulge me every time I tune in! Thank you Lady C for bringing a ray of sunshine to my life several times a week, no less. I am truly spoiled. Thank you again. I do appreciate your review of your family's story. Very interesting and we know the fact are accurate! You are a national treasure.
(The World of Downton Abbey by Jessica Fellowes, the niece of Lord Fellowes.)
Please keep giving us historical and other other information, Lady C! You are a treasure, and, I look forward to your vlogs! Much love to you and Mickey. May God grant you a happy and healthy New Year!
Downton Abbey is a good tv drama and that's it. It has very little realism in it.
You are such a beautiful lady I admire you . your life hasn't been easy but you lady have held you head high and maintain your self the true lady you are.thank you for setting such a strong example for all of us in this world.
O my… I had a sudden vision that if you HAD sold t-shirts, that your most popular would have read as:
Klassy!
Thanks lady C for this. One thing I noted about 'British scandal' that as with other recent BBC productions was terribly badly lit and you couldnt tell what was going on half of the time. I came across Margaret Argyll, as a teenager when she was in a photoshoot magazine article, with members of the Manners family .I always felt alot of sympathy for her, as time passed and I had read more about her . It is a story that would catch the imagination of people but I think it was rather wasted for a variety of reasons.I watched the 'English Scandal' which I personally thought much better and have watched several times. It is definitely shame they didnt liase with you and Mr Bryan Sweeney more. Love to you and Mickey
Utterly fascinating! Thank you, Lady C, for sharing your unique insights with all of us. You bring history to life with your master story-telling style. ❤️
Wow! What an interesting story! Have not watched the BBC production (dont watch BBC on principal). Also, what a fabulous change from the harkles!
...between you and me...correct...’me’ is object of the preposition ‘between’...I do remember it well🤗
I wish you could put out a film called The Real Truth behind A Very British Scandal.
Would love to see the BBC shown up for their lies in this production.
If I was an actor in such a film I would have done my own research and would only want to be part of a truthful portrayal of the events therein.

I just love your frankness and sense of honor and dignity, Lady C. I wish you’d write a true story about this very interesting family that you happen to find yourself in.
Yes, Margeret was a friend of my neigbour, Lady Joan who told me her makeup was always immaculate. I have been inside the shop at Inverarey Castle and the staff there told me the Margeret had been the Duke's favourite bride.
Brilliant! How ashamed they must be feeling at the BBC...
Utterly fascinating!!! I did watch the programme. I remember the headlines of the an Argyll divorce around when I was having my babies and not paying much attention to the wider world so was curious. I think I shall watch it again now, having heard your more factual chat. Like having a gossip with a friend. I now know two things. 1. Mrs Thatcher was wrong “Greed is not good”. 2. What a good thing The Pill has been. If I were not watching the H&M thing I would not easily believe people could be so heinous. And you are able to set both sagas in place. Thank you, lovely Lady C. for sharing your experiences with us. I am grateful to know the truth behind these "docudrama" put out by the BBC and others. One of the others put out by the BBC, "The Crown" has been so appalling that I no longer can tolerate watching it! I am of course, not an insider like you, but I have read enough books (including ALL of yours) about the Royal Family and others that are related to them, to know that 90% of the context of that particular docudrama is, as you say, rubbish! Thank you for setting things straight!

I watched the three episodes and I felt so sorry for Margaret. This version Lady C is telling us sounds much better. Why don't the BBC do their homework?
It's called "artistic license".
Lady C - if the Beeb got it so badly wrong , surely surely The Duchess of Argyll can sue them for defamation of character, because they certainly made her look bad.
Not when she's been dead for 30 years.
I especially adore your ending..One Good woman/mother who changed the course of history and breaking generational curses for a lack of a better term. Much love Lady C

Amazing history lesson and setting the record straight about the injustices to Margaret
Lady C, you are a very eloquent raconteuse! Ending with your anecdotal story of the Dowager Lady Argyle was lovely! And, it allows your listeners a glimpse at the true character of Georgie! You presented the facts in a very conversational manner. Moreover, never once did you project any bitterness and you ended with a very nice tribute to the Dowager Lady Argyle and her children. Certainly, your experience with this family was hurtful and traumatic in many ways; however, you gave insight into the strength of your character and ability to forgive and move on! Wonderful correction to the misinformation of the BBC!!! Kudo's to you!!!

Hello Lady C. I watched that series too and was very annoyed by the way Margaret the Duchess of Argyle was portrayed. She gave everything she had to give to that awful cad of a man. He didn’t deserve her, and considering she gave him back a fully refurbished castle and financed his every whim his behaviour was brutal and cruel. He was devoid of any empathy and rightly described by you as a sociopath. I wonder how he fared out with his American heiress afterwards? I love your channel and I avidly follow all your podcasts, for which I offer my thanks.
