- The House of the Virgin Mary (or Meryem Ana Evi in Turkish) is a place where, according to the beliefs of many people Mary, the mother of Jesus, spent the last years of her life. She was supposed to arrive at Ephesus together with St. John and lived there in the years 37-45 CE until her Assumption (according to Catholic doctrine) or Dormition (according to Orthodox belief).
Brief history
In the 19th century a German nun, Catherine Emmerich, had visions of Mary in Ephesus though she had never been in this area. On the basis of her description, the priests from Izmir discovered the foundations of the old homestead on a wooded slope of Bülbüldağı (the Hill of Nightingales), also known as Koressos, near Ephesus. The house was dated to the 6th century AD, but some of its fragments came from earlier times, perhaps even from the first century CE.
Although the place has never been officially recognised by the Catholic Church as the home of Mary, a lot of gestures made by the popes authenticated its history in the eyes of the faithful. First, Pope Leo XIII blessed the House of the Virgin Mary during his pilgrimage in 1896. Secondly, Pope Pius XII gave the House of the Virgin Mary the status of a Holy Place in 1951. This privilege was subsequently confirmed by Pope John XXIII. Finally, Pope Paul VI paid a visit in 1967. Since then the House of the Virgin Mary has become a place of pilgrimage for the faithful. In more recent history, the House of the Virgin Mary was also visited by Pope John Paul II, in 1979 and, more recently - in 2006 - by Pope Benedict XVI.
There is none decisive historical evidence to support the theory that Mary spent the last years of her life in Ephesus. However, some indications testify in favour of the theory. The first one is the documented presence of St. John in Ephesus. Jesus entrusted him to take care of his mother before dying on the cross. In Selçuk, we can even see the tomb of St. John and his basilica. The second premise is the existence in Ephesus of the Church of St. Mary. It was the first temple devoted to Mary, the mother of Jesus. Additional arguments brought during the debate over the authenticity of the House of the Virgin Mary are the choice of Ephesus on the venue of the Council of Ephesus. It was convened in 431 to resolve the dispute concerning the determination of the unification of human and divine nature in Jesus Christ and the title of Mary as the Mother of God. Additionally, the Greek inhabitants of the nearby village of Şirince had the custom of pilgrimages to a place called Panaya Kapulu to celebrate the day of the Dormition of the Virgin Mary.
Sightseeing
Currently, the restored house serves as a chapel. Every August the 15th a solemn mass is held there to celebrate the ascension of Mary. Masses are also celebrated every Sunday at 10.30 am. Typically, the chapel is crowded by huge numbers of tourists who visit Meryemana while on their way to or from Ephesus. The place is under the care of the Franciscan order.
The House of the Virgin Mary also has enormous significance for the Muslims, for whom Mary was the mother of one of the great prophets of Islam, called İsa Peygamber (i.e. Jesus). Below the chapel, there is a wall covered with ribbons of fabric, paper or plastic, which Muslims bind to express some wishes.

It's my desire and dream to visit the house of Mother Mary in Turkey and I'm praying for that to mother for it to happen. Today is 1st Sept 2020. Will come back when I go there. Hello Quentin, I pray you already fulfilled your wish to visit Mother Mary´s home
in Ephesus. I did in 2010 after the fire in Ephesus. To my amazement the whole
hill was burned expect the first row of pines and trees surrounding the house.
Thereś a souvenir shop where the house is located and I purchased a small metal
picture of Mary holding baby Jesus. I dipped the picture on the water of the well
and brought it with me to CA. Keep it under my pillow for some time, then one
day I heard of a young woman, wife of a friend, who got breast cancer for the
second time and her prognosis was poor. I gifted her my metal picture of our Lord and His Mother Mary, and this girl got cured of cancer........true story.

I was there in August of 2022. It was a beautiful visit and experience. I HAVE WATER FROM HER FAUCET.

The commentator seems to mix up John the Apostle who lived with Mary the Mother of Jesus in Ephesus, with John the Baptist who
lived and died (was murdered) in Israel. John the Baptist and St. John the Apostle are two distinct persons in Jesus`life! John the Apostle wrote the Book of Revelation in the Island of Pathmos, not John the Baptist!
Maybe the commentator is Islamic… since this is Turkey… and ALL Christians know the difference!

The building itself is an Orthodox Church, so they have the authority to decide the dress code.
So, some websites are saying that parts of the house are closed off, others are saying that in the house is an area for "muslim prayer" can anyone confirm or deny this. From looking at a map of the building it seems that the entire building is included in this video... am I mistaken? Thank you.
No part of the building is reserved for Islamic worship. But it has a section with iconas under the authority of the Orthodox Church

Acta 1:14 Is is the last biblical reference to the Blessed Virgin Mother of God. We know the apostles were sent by Jesus Christ God to celebrate the Holy Mass in any land of the world for them can be saved in Paradise through Him. Infact, His death in the Golgota was salvific for the people who assist to his Passione and Resurrection from the death on the cross, but not for the others. For their salvation, Christ instituted the Eucharist to repeat and make alive his sacrifice for the salvation of the believers who partecipate to It.
Therefore, the Holy Mass Is necessary for our salvation. It isn't something of which we can live without. For this necessità, the Lord instituted the Eucharist and have the Holy Spirit God to the Twelve in the day of the Pentecost. The Virgin Mary was just full of the grace of the Spirit of Christ God since the time of the Annunciation and of her conceiving by work of the Holy Spirit God.
We also know at the feet of the cross Jesus entrusted His mother to St John the Apostle and Evangelist. In Acts, nothing is said on her apart that she was used to pray daily with the Apostle.
We can imagine she remain with St John when the Apostles left Jerusalem to arrive in the countries Jesus assigned to them.
This is indirectly confirmed if we think John wrote the truth of Satan and his final defeat in the Book of Revelation. Demons have the power to block the human vision of the Truth. His prophecy would be possible uniquely NEAR and at the LIGHT of the woman called by God to win the satanici incarnated snake of Genesis 3:26.

This is all a made-up story. According to the revelations given through Maria Valtorta' and her writings (Poem of Man-God), Blessed Mother stayed in Jerusalem, after Our Lord's Resurrection and Ascension, specifically in the house in Gethsemane (property belonged to Lazarus) until Her Assumption. Why would She leave the Holy Place (where Her Divine Son died, rose from the dead, and ascended, after fulfilling the Redemption) and go else where?
It's so ridiculous that these women wear these scarfs over their heads like their pious or something special, absolutely ridiculous & very ritualistic
