Tiny Tim's act has aged well, with much of Laugh-Ins audience being like Dan Rowan, a WW2 vet, you knew you were going to get a little smarm ," kept him out of the army, heh, heh" But let's face it, if his act wasn't unique, he wouldn't have been there. That said, Dick Martin acting like he was in actual pain, was funny. But the one most in on the joke, was as always Tiny Tim himself.

I'm also a musician, and here's a story you can probably relate to. My brother (drums) and best friend (bass) did a gig with Tiny Tim at a local hotel back in the 90's. They rehearsed with him for a couple of hours and learned a bunch of songs (old, obscure ones from the 20's & 30's - no sheet music, by the way, just all by ear). Then after rehearsal, he tells them "I might play these songs, but then again, I might not", which scared the sh*t out of this pick-up band, especially considering the place would be packed with 500 people! So, they go on stage that night, and Tiny Tim is just launching into obscure song after song - few of which they rehearsed - sort of stream of consciousness! Talk about sweating it out! (The band had very good ears, luckily.) They said he was really a very nice guy, but a genuine weirdo. But, yes, he was a talented guy.

Folks this was in the act, Tiny Tim did the stint to get attention, he actually had a deep voice, this was part of his comedy act so don't get mad at the show, this was pre planned. The people who think that this was mean to Tiny Tim, are all wet, this was part of his act, and he got well paid from earning nothing, to public exposure and more fame. Tiny Tim was actually an expert on old music from the 1920s on, married had one child Tulip, he later on went on Johnny Carson, Howard Stern, etc. interesting personality and was in fact married 3 times last wife had money.

I saw this when it first aired. Most of you probably have no idea how popular Laugh In was then. It was so much faster and more adult than other shows at that time. It aired Monday night, and Tuesday mornings everyone at work would talk about it. Despite Rowan and Martin's attitude toward him the show made Tim wildly popular too and we tuned in every week hoping he'd be on. Before all that he'd worked in little Greenwich Village clubs for years. I had the chance to see him then and still regret not doing so.
