I just want everyone to know that ap classes literally traumatized me, I have spent time talking about them and my experiences with them with my therapist that I have been seeing for over a year. To anyone who needs to hear this (because I did): please please please don’t take an ap if you know you’re gonna suffer more than what you’ll get out of it. It’s really not worth it, they’re a scam, and your life won’t be ruined by your decision to not take one. You are worth more than a grade or a score, because you’re more than a student.
I can attest to this as well.. I took 4 APs this year (which is not even the maximum at my school… others take 5-7 in a year) and it made me suicidal. Thankfully I’m also seeing a therapist and recovering after those dreadful exams.

Dang well now I feel better about myself as a normie 😂 I had my graduation 2 days ago and there were many kids who did 4-10 AP classes, it felt like the whole class of 2022 was put to shame when only 57 of them were getting awarded lmao. I had a moment of doubt of “maybe I should’ve taken an AP class to get an award to impress my family” but I should know because I took one in sophmore year and literally had breakdowns and imposter syndrome going in to class LOL. From then on I decided to live a carefree life of regular classes because I understood everything was a lie and highschool isn’t the end all, be all. I regret giving my money to the college board because I didn’t even take the test since I was too anxious, I didn’t even know it WASNT mandatory. Literally scammed 💀💀 I hope you’re recovering 💞 I really think AP classes aren’t necessary unless you want the push, or they are a class that benefits your future career. Other than that, if it’s just for the gpa, it’s not really all that hyped to be just to get accepted into college.

As a senior, I just finished all of my schoolwork this year. I just have one more assignment from an AP teacher to finish up. Watching this after I was tortured for 2 years feels like living life in creative mode. My summers being ruined by AP work definitely hits close to home.

ugh, i hated that feeling of not knowing what to do. when i was still in high school, i liked summer vacation (as do all kids), but i always felt uncomfortable with the number of days that would go by without having to worry about schoolwork. chores, community service, and work could only do so much; it always felt like i still had more to do (i could never sleep well just thinking about how unproductive i was being). it isn't until my mental health got the best of me that i realized i was basing my worth on being the best at school-- and this included taking as many ap exams as i could, getting perfect scores, taking psat practice classes, having a job, sacrificing my sleep schedule and overall health to finish everything on time, and so forth. i hope you take great care of yourself, and remember that whatever score or grade you get, it's completely fine-- even if it doesn't feel fine at the time. stay hydrated, and above all, appreciate all of your efforts.
AP physics 1 is fine. The content might be a little challenging but its definitely managable. Most of the math you'll be doing is basic algebra and trig. The test itself is pretty tough since collegeboard makes their questions unnecessarily complicated.
My school doesn't necessarily force us to take APs, but every possible track in a subject leads to an AP. When picking classes, the only options are an honors class or an AP and some classes force you into an AP afterwards.

JUST TAKE DUAL ENROLLMENT CLASSES. They’re easier, much less stressful, and you don’t have to pass a damn exam at the end of it to determine if you get the college credit or not. For some reason, some high school teachers and counselors will manipulate students into thinking that dual enrollment is a bad look for a student when applying to university, but if you want to save your parents’ wallets and bank accounts, do them a favor and knock some college classes out while they’re provided to you FOR FREE!!!
Dual enrollment is good as long as you know those credits transfer to the college(s) you're interested in. Otherwise they're more of a waste of money since AP is more universal with American colleges 😭 at least that was the conversation I had
@@AllianaHogeland that’s true, but from personal experience, the classes that can’t transfer are usually only low credit hour classes like Economics, which you’re required to take in my state if you want to graduate. So I decided to just take it for dual enrollment since the AP version of the class is 100x harder than the class provided at the university.

Taking lots of AP isn’t worth it Take APUSH always (you never want to take US history in college trust me) AP English is strongly recommended but College English courses are pretty good on their own Take the AP science that matters to you but do note that it rarely sets you up for college credit, instead when it comes to retaking the college course, it’s a review. (I personally recommend chem and physics C) Take APs that you enjoy (Art history, music , etc) Don’t just take APs in general

I hope the best for everyone who tested! I finished off yesterday with physics II (which I have no doubt that I failed 😂), which was my 6th test. After seven exams (with AP research being the 7th) I am glad to be done. If all goes well, I will have passed over 10 AP exams in my high school career (I have now taken a total of 14, and of the 7 scores I know, I have only ever not passed 1). Get some rest guys, we have earned it!

Only good thing about ap class I took way you were done 3 weeks early and no final exam. My ap class was said to be easier than the alternative according the other students who didn’t take it but I wouldn’t know cause most of my friends where in that the ap class or a year below me so never had them complain

I liked my AP classes way better than IB. IB never stopped with the extra work and was WAY past boring. It felt like quals for projects that felt like section duty. My own damn fault for picking HL.

I'm pretty sure they had meant required/recommended homework **before** the AP course starts on the first day of school. However, ur taking AP alr so idk if u were given homework before the course had started or not.

I hope the best for everyone who tested! I finished off yesterday with physics II (which I have no doubt that I failed 😂), which was my 6th test. After seven exams (with AP research being the 7th) I am glad to be done. If all goes well, I will have passed over 10 AP exams in my high school career (I have now taken a total of 14, and of the 7 scores I know, I have only ever not passed 1). Get some rest guys, we have earned it!

Only good thing about ap class I took way you were done 3 weeks early and no final exam. My ap class was said to be easier than the alternative according the other students who didn’t take it but I wouldn’t know cause most of my friends where in that the ap class or a year below me so never had them complain

I'd assume ur in 9th grade with those classes, but ofc. No matter how easy an AP is it still makes u an AP student, and you should be proud.

I liked my AP classes way better than IB.
IB never stopped with the extra work and was WAY past boring. It felt like quals for projects that felt like section duty.
