Hey Jaron I know your a master teacher/break down king. But the part from 17:12 where the crowd jumped in was magical I only realised it when you pointed it out i.e how there were 3 parts going on Coko, The SWA girls/back up singers and the crowd! man you put my ears on that one 🙌🏾
Come on! they are the ultimate girl group, they look good and sound great and Coko...she doesn't get enough credit for being one of the greatest sopranos.
I dont know what ypu talkin bout but huni listen, they look great and sound even better! Let them sing their song how they want to. Coko can sing her butt off. Her voice takes me back to the 90's, very nostalgic. Coko is definitely one of my top 3 singers of all time. Love love love SWV.
@@naturalbby1722 why do we need her to be a personality. I want her to be that amazing singer that she know is,and leave the residue for the connivers. Notice the word Con.
This Tiny Desk was amazing. Lele's voice is distinct and I can always hear it. Taj always holding it down with her part - a singer!! And Ms. Coko made some intentional choices with her phrasing and other choices with moving her voice that were masterful. OOOOOWEEEEE!!!
Thank you for mentioning Lele & Taj. I never liked that they were underestimated. Yes, Coko is the distinct lead but they definitely can hold their own. After all, the group was Lele’s vision.
I got my life on their tiny desk concert, the background singers, proud of Jalen like he is my nephew. Taj gave us everything as a secondary singer, she showed up and ate the mic up
SWV gave me my life. It was a whole sing-a-long in my car. I was a little off key, but still.😊 THEY SOUND GREAT AFTER DECADES & shout out to Jalen (CoCo's son) he is awesome. That soft T was so smooth as this song was too & her maturity singing Rain Down On Me is bone chilling. One of my favorite Tiny Desk Concerts. And the back ground singers diiiiid that. WOWWWWWWW
I’ve always been a fan of how they had interesting chords in their music while singing mostly easy-to-follow melody in the verses. Of course with the vocal harmony work going in between those two layers.
THISsss…concert got me through a rough commute thru the DC Metro area. These ladies are pure perfection. Ms Coko singing lead, the backup, the band, and Coko’s son🔥
Loved the way you unpacked this performance, Jeron. And a big thank you to tiny desk and swv for making this finally happen! So glad Coco's voice was sustained through the years!
I’m not a musician but I know good music. I’ve only seen like two or three of your videos, but this is really dope to see you break down videos this way with the knowledge and talent to explain what folks are intentionally doing with their voices.
I needed them to sing use your heart for taj I need them to sing if only u knew for lelee and the other songs are coco but them are my songs I love to hear them have their moments on cause iykyk lelee and taj do they thing on both songs that I mentioned
Y’all ain’t gone make me feel like I was the only one Coach Jaron had scrunching their face when he broke out with the fancy term of “polyphonic”. I wasn’t ashamed to google it. Here y’all go 😂😂😂. producing many sounds simultaneously; many-voiced.
Jaron you should make the polyphonic segment of this vocal analysis into a short. And add the words onto the short when you describe the 3 sections. Also add in what the BGV are doing as well. Oh and I'm happy you put it out so quick! Not Jaron delivering same day like Amazon!
So happy to see and hear this! I love listening along with you and learning new things about music. I would love if you would analyze Coco's son solo feature. He has a great voice! Thanks for this 🙂
Coko still sings the SAME after all this time, in fact, even better! Them pipes are EVERLASTING and she doesn't get enough recognition!!! ❤❤❤ and then her son too is an amazing vocalist... c'mon generational talent and wealth!
This was amazing, my only complaint is the vocal mics should of been turned up a bit more, cause the live instruments are louder and you can miss some of the nuances and style choses they made with runs/riffs if you’re not keen or watching for them… they get lost in sound in a few places. But still stellar performance from one of my all time fav girl groups.
This was such a treat. I saw this and instantly knew you would have a video! I would love for you to do classic jazz greats like Billie Holiday❤, Sarah Vaughan, etc.
This was amazing!! Such great voices! For some reason this reminded me though: We need some Maxwell analysis. Not This Woman's Work, falsetto Maxwell, but just Maxwell in general. That man sang with such articulation, he embodied every note he sang. So much air too, words just flew out his mouth in such a smooth way. And his vibrato? Hmmmm
I remember Coko stating in an interview that she had surgery on her vocal cords a few years ago. Maybe that’s why she sings a little breathy. But she still has an amazing voice.
@@eleeveeayees3425 Taj did have surgery about 8-10 years ago. This was documented on their reality show SWV:Reunited. I going to try to find the interview Coko stated she had vocal surgery.
Love that Coco has her son with her, doing backgrounds and a solo!
Coko was FLOATING on weak! 🎶🔥😮💨
They sound just like the recordings. SWV really deserve their flowers!
Yes they fiya🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Coko is THE definitive VOICE of the 90s to me. That tone and delivery influenced SO many other singers
💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯

Lee Lee and Taj are underrated.babyyyyy they killlled too. Not just Coko all of these ladies sound amazing!!!! Legends, icons, irreplaceable.

Coko taught a vocal master class in this tiny desk….
Jared I ❤❤❤ your analysis of my sisters from the Boogie Down Bronx and Brooklyn!!
Younger Keisha was so excited to see that they did a tiny desk concert. And they did not disappoint. SWV, the ladies and their songs, have aged well.
Those background vocals and harmonies were amazing! CoCo is a goat
Coko gave us CHURCH with the song "WEAK." So very churchy in the 90s. So beautiful!
Taj's mic was definitely on!!!
Yesssss! Heard her but where was lelee

Rain was my favorite song of theirs ❤
The audience was on point. I love it. It's a testament of SWV's influence.
The crowd definitely passed the vibe check ❤❤❤
They sang on key🎉
The ladies were phenomenal. I love how Coko somehow maintains her Bronx accent with the church hardiness of her voice.

I agree about Lelee. I enjoyed her announcements throughout the concert. All three play a pivotal role in the group. All three are needed. 💛
Great performance. I really wished they would've done "Use Your Heart"!!

That riff @ 5:02 was so Dorinda. I know y’all hear it? 😌
She gets it from her mother as well.
I couldn't wait for SWV at Tiny Desk! They were so good..and I love the harmony. I didn't want it to end. 🥰🥰🎵🎶🎶👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
SWV shines when they are live. Their inherent talent shows through and the richness of their catalog comes out. I think I love them even more now.
