I purchased a "new to me" chrome, mapex Venus kit two years ago, as an upgrade from the 3 other low end kits I had to start out with. I couldn't be happier with the kit. I use mineil cymbals and the chrome finish picks up the lights on stage, beautifully. Great kit
Gideon, greetings from South Bend, WA USA. I really enjoyed your review on this great looking and even greater sounding drum set. I own an early model Mapex V-Series drum set. I haven’t really been able to find out any detailed info on it as to when it was built. I have sent the serial numbers to a number of people in the know, but there doesn’t seem to be much info about this kit. Anyway, thank you for the very informational and even more entertaining video. You are a great drummer.
Thank you for the kind words! That's interesting - the Mapex Venus Series was originally popular in the late 90s and early 2000s. I think the new version is great! 😃
@@GideonWaxman The guy from Mapex that I talked with told me that judging from the serial numbers it was probably from the early 1990s. I was trying to find out the name of the wrap that is on it. No luck though. He said there were no records of wrap colors from that time. Oh well.
Both are solid options, I think the Venus is the only one of the two that includes everything in one package. It's a little more affordable too. I'd go for the Venus!

Awesome! Great choice. Enjoy it!
This was a good play thru and review. If you have the means to get ur hands on lots of different price point kits, you’ll do well. Thanks for this.

What a great watch again! Love this review
I’ve heard that Mapex is a fantastic product for the cost. This kit sounds as good as any kit that isn’t 6 thousand dollars.
Just bought one thanks to this video😅
Awesome! Enjoy it 🥁
Bro, im going to buy my first drum set and i narrowed it down to MAPEX VENUS and TAMA IMPERIALSTAR what should i pick
