  • Information for going up Half Dome by following me from my morning at camp to Yosemite Valley Trailhead to the top of Half Dome and down again. See and hear all the important sights along the way.
Skip the permit, the long drive, the physical toll, and the early mornings. I'll take you on the trip to Yosemite's Half Dome and experience one of the most iconic hikes in the United States.
I won the 2-day permit lottery to hike the Half Dome in July 2022, so I camped at Dimond O Campground, drove in to the park in the early morning, and managed to hike to the top of the Half Dome on a clear beautiful day.
The permit is checked by a Ranger at 7 miles and 4000 feet climb from the parking lot.
Permits are obtained online 2 days before the day of your hike via the following link via a lottery: www.recreation.gov/permits/23...
Expect the full hike to take 8-12 hours. Bring plenty of water (3L+) and do not attempt if you have a fear of heights...
... or enjoy the journey with this video at the comfort of your home.
Enjoy the Half Dome experience and the ambience of the trails. I will show you some sights along the way. Weather was great and I am very happy with the footage.
Enjoy the background music, run/walk along your treadmill, and explore with me!

I did this when they did not have a ranger check (a) permit, but in addition to being necessary, it is a very good idea to have one there, since there have been a lot of bad conditions in that area, like sudden storms and people being dehydrated and no local water for them there. Anyway, nice video. You have got me interested in trail running in Yosemite in the Spring. (Sometime you might like the Chicago marathon, that is my favorite event)
