Poor old machines, when built were never predicted to be so curious and revered. Quite haunting and I can only hope they look as they once did and are to never be lost again.
These were wonderful gorgeous automobiles when new. Very unique and rare vehicles. I am glad they will be brought back to life via a no expense spared restorations.
There is no doubt these have been and still are the toys of conspicuous consumption of the ultra rich but at least their restoration is a testament to the art and craftsmanship of the men and woman who designed and made them as well as those who restore them. Hopefully they will be displayed and not locked away so we can all enjoy this rolling art.
After a full restoration the Grand Sport Talbot-Lago T26 (matching numbers) will have a value 10 to 15 more times the auction prices & restoration cost ! Talbot-Lago's name is appreciate as Bugatti ! The problem, having fund to start such project but there is a market around the world for 20/25 million classic cars...
I wonder how much of the restoration/recreation is original from the barn find. Not to criticize it, it is just amazing to me that all or any of those original parts, components can be restored to the degree shown.
A great and interesting video. Fascinating that the car in absolute worst condition sold for the most by far. Thank you also for using titles and not having some yo-yo narrating. (If I have to nitpick, I would lose the hard rock guitar, but that's just me.) Well done.
Words almost fail me. BUT FIRSTLY--how on earth, could ANYONE, just carelessly allow, these Automotive Gems, to rot away like this. Secondly, How the HELL, did they salvage enough useable material, to make it worthwhile? But I guess I know the answer---a deep, and perhaps purverse love, of these, man-made 'CREATIONS'
By the way - this black Ferrari California Spider (7.50) was owned by Alain Delon,so has been sold not for just two millions, but nearly nine, even in this poor condition...P.S-Gorgeous cars...I really hope that someone gives them back their former glory...!
The Parts are no Problem. Who has so much Money, has also the possibility to create another new parts. The cars were built on this World and no somewhere else .
I assume the vertical cylinder is the boiler. Seems to me there is very little clearance between the road and the bottom of the boiler. Going over a small bump could result in destroying the boiler and scalding the rider. Very impressive though.
This presentation has some very interesting content. It is just a shame that the music has been allowed to dictate how long those images and texts remain for viewing and reading. Further, the limited time to read is compounded by the use of small text. It's very hard work! 😲
Seems odd to me that such valuable and wonderful cars owned by very wealthy people were put into such sub standard accommodation where damp, water and general exposure to the elements would cause inevitable serious deterioration.
Rare classic cars, collected by a wealthy car enthusiast, carefully and lovingly stored , NOT! Surely some of them would end up more as semi replicas, rather than restorations. People do strange things, especially rich ones sometimes.
The most strange of this collection was the Ferrari 250 California formerly owned by Alain Delon, considered as definitely lost by Ferrari enthusiasts, parked in the barn like a used Ford Capri, under a vague tarp blocked by a pile of old car magazine... Solded in auction 16,3 millions €...
These cars are essentially race cars. They don't make cars like this any more "Rusted shits" that were some of the best engineered cars of their time and when restored will be a dream to drive for the lucky who get the chance. Check out Jay Leno's garage to see how these cars will end up. But if you love you Toyota then I guess you shouldn't be looking in the first place. These cars will be restored you can bet your life on it and they will increase in value.
+derpface_ engage I think your missing the point--these amazing vehicles aren't going to remain in that condition---watch this space, as they say. Given time for restoration, they will be worth 5 times that at least.
Maybe they were beautiful looking cars, but they are all crap now and I would never pay that kind of money they went for, you figure all 3 are going to need major body and chassis work and in some cases replacement, so the data plate says they were built and bodied by so and so, guess what all that history is gone rusted away and thats left is probably mechanical and those engines are crap too, so sad to let something as beautiful those cars once were just waste away, shame.

Very nice and well done presentation/video. Thumbs up!

It's been four years since these sold at auction. I'm interested to see what the restoration progress on them are. Especially 110109
me too.
Hopefully they will be fully restored in the near future. However it is one hell of an investment to make.....
I hope the'll never be restored. Just put them in a museum like this. Great pieces of art.

it should be interesting to follow their restauration .

That third one is the sort of car that is advertised as "one careful lady driver".
Excellent and very interesting!
Great vid , thx for posting
this guy knew his stuff !!!!!!!!!
All three cars are incredible but will take years and millions to restore.
I have restored my former cars gratis.
"Ran when parked."
it is such a shame that they ended up the way they did, please do a follow up vid on the restoration or completed works of art.

In other Countries the similar cars were crushed, also today in America, the cars built before 1940 are still crushed. I saw here on UA-cam.
A car god would be proud to drive
And parts will be a serious problem. Will have to manufacture own parts / pieces where necessary. Huge commitment . . .

Thought you would mention some of the history about #100272
Makes one proud to be Egyptian :)
Cars so beautiful they make one weep, another exceiiant film. Not sure about SWOOPY though!!!!!!
Is there hope for number 3, it looks awfully gone and about to turn to powder.
Man, why couldn't he throw a nice tarp over all the cars he had. I am sure a tarp would have stopped a lot of the damage.
My thoughts too.

!Oh yeah, remember Mons. Baillon from the first Pink Panther movie?
Seems odd to me that such valuable and wonderful cars owned by very wealthy people were put into such sub standard accommodation where damp, water and general exposure to the elements would cause inevitable serious deterioration.
Afraid to wash it...might fall apart...
But the wind ??
It would be interesting to know who the original owners of these cars were.
Considering what the cars sold for 1 might think the video could be longer to showcase them better

An interesting and well-made documentary... but there seems to be an elephant in the room. This is madness. Car collecting has become absurdist.
Found in France, so why are these all right-hand drives?
U know the front grilles and fenders are so similar to my mk4 humber super snipe ,
Un-freakin' believable
Stuff those vulgar Lambo rollerskates, what a way to cut a dash in the King's Road! If I had it, that's the way I'd flaunt it.
What other cars were being stored there?
Trabant !!
Ionel Sandra; A Trabant should be worth at least twice what the Talbot-Lagos are worth.
Have you believed me ?? It was a joke .
I know it was a joke. A Trabant wouldn't be worth the air in a Talbot-Lagos spare tire.
Quelle tristesse de voir toutes ces voitures françaises partir aux USA

A dream to drive? No power steering so VERY very heavy steering.. Exhausting more like.
Rolls-Royce ripped off the design of chassis #100239 Record Fastback for the current Wraith. But Talbot-Lago did it better.
More money than brains.
Money makes money.
OMG ,so much money for...I don't know. But nice Cars ( before)
But why Beethoven? Debussy would have been more appropriate.
It's Gourgous
Majestuosas máquinas
1.4 million for a fucking talbot which was super fucked
noty
+Kange FIN Grow a pair mate
***** uhmn why? i just dont like rusted shits even if they were super rare
+derpface_ engage I think your missing the point--these amazing vehicles aren't going to remain in that condition---watch this space, as they say. Given time for restoration, they will be worth 5 times that at least.
Philip Croft maybe, but i wont be the one doing it even if i had the money
Beethoven Nr.5 perfekt
me encantan los autos antiguos pero la persona que pago por esa chatarra son un poco idiotas .
Es mas barato hacer una replica.
what???? one million for a car that is completely rusted, and is destroyed on one side... ill pass
+Sebastian Conde Fuul restored it will be a 20/25 million car !
It looks like a Buick
The totally unrelated Beethoven soundtrack is pretentious and extremely irritating. This is a waste of time.
sólo basura!!!
nice of the French to focus of silly, frilly things and leave the fighting and dying for their freedom to the British, Canadian and American soldiers.
Post WWII vehicles bucko...or did your ignorance blind you to that fact?
